  1. Hi All, So the last few months or so I noticed that on start up there are issues with the sat nav, in particular the GPS (boxed is greyed out). It loses location while I am driving for around 5 to 10 minutes, then it finds "signal" and location is fine. This would only happen now and again, but the last week it had been everyday. Has anyone else had a similar issue regarding the GPS? If it is a GPS antenna issue, where is this located? Thanks in advance.
  2. Thank you everyone, appreciate all the advice. I will speak to Lexus again regarding the essential care. As £840 to me was rather excessive.
  3. Might be a stupid question (probably is)... but don't brakes need bleeding when pads are changed anyway? Could I just ask, would you say £840 for brakes and discs is expensive? Thanks again.
  4. Afternoon all, I purchased my IS300h premier from Lexus Swindon (great service) in May 2021, 63,000 FSH and added on two years extended warranty. Previous car was an is220d sport. Now, when I am breaking or even sometimes crawling at speeds, I hear a squeak, which I assume are the breaks needing to be replaced. I haven't yet taken it into Lexus to check, but was wondering, is it safe for a non-lexus/toyota to replace the breaks/discs? I am just worried about the regenerative breaking and whether a garage can "muck up" the breaking system when changing. Lexus are charging £840 for breaks and discs all round, which I feel is on he expensive side. Was wondering it there are no difficulties an independent garage could change them fine and for half the price. Thanks in advance.
  5. Morning!! I posted previously regarding a noise (which sounds like the bass has gone) from the drivers door, during particular songs. I have taken it to Lexus who have confirmed that the speaker is working perfectly; however, the noise is a sound proofing issue. Lexus tried to fix the problem but to no avail, they did pinpont the noise down to the window switch. Since then I have been online and seen that this particular issue is quite common with models from 2013, which have the ML speakers. There is an apparent fix, which is to take the switch out of the assembly and wrap, tightly, with electrical or felt tape. I thought "happy days" I have found a fix.... unfortunately not. I wrapped the switch tightly and even added some more sound proofing under the switch and the same noise is still there. I can confirm it is the window switch as if I play a certain track which causes the issue, a slight press from my knee against the door panel (woodish trim with the switch) instantly stops the noise. Has anyone else come across this issue and if so have you been able to fix it? It is very irritating. Thanks again.
  6. Hopefully be a straight forward fix. I have narrowed it down to the drivers door speaker. Whenever a song has some bass you can hear a crackle, and is now very irritating. I had ML in my old 220d and never had this issue, and I am a bit of an audiophile so picked up on it straight away. My only worry now is will they replace with a genuine ML speaker... or just put a lesser quality speaker in hoping I wouldn't know.
  7. Thank you for letting me know that your claims have went smoothly and regarding how the investigation works. The dealer did make me aware of the one year extended warranty being included, for peace of mind I purchased another two years. The car will only be serviced by Lexus, like my previous is220d, which was still a great car (just not up to the "usual" Lexus standard). From my discussions with Lexus Swindon, as I am still within the 30 day purchase window, this appears to be separate to a warranty claim as the car was sold with a fault. However, they deal with this I don't mind as long as the speaker(s) are sorted.
  8. Will update once the car is hopefully sorted. I am very much enjoying the 300h😀 Thanks again.
  9. Again, I thank you all for the advice. Don't you worry, I did word it that the car was sold with a broken speaker. I have now heard back from Swindon and as the car is still within the 30day purchase window, Swindon are required to fix the issue. After the 30days I could take to another dealer under the extended warranty agreement. So the car is booked in and will be checked and repaired.
  10. I have just been on the phone to Swindon and advised them on the situation. Apparently I will be charged for the investigation, is this correct? Just waiting on a call back to see if Swindon will cover my investigation costs if I take to Cardiff. I would have thought this is all covered under the warranty.
  11. Perfect, thanks Linus. I heard the Lexus Warranty is one of the best. Looks like I'll be calling Cardiff tomorrow then.
  12. The car came with 12 months extended warranty and I purchased an additional 2 years warranty. Would I need to take it back to Swindon or could I take it to my nearest Lexus dealership, which would be Cardiff? Travelling to Swindon again, with an 18month isn't the most enjoyable...
  13. Thanks Roy. I wasn't sure if this covered under the warranty. Will definitely get this booked in and sorted.
  14. Hi everyone, Not long picked up my (new to me) is300h premier. Stunning condition and love the ivory leather. I have noticed that either the drivers door or dash speaker (closest to drivers door) has a crackle with certain songs... possibly the base. Is this something that can be replaced under the Lexus Warranty? The car is 2014 and has only 63k. Car was purchased from Lexus Swindon and has full lexus service history (if that makes a difference). Failing that, is it easy for me to replace myself? Thanks again for any advice.
  15. Thanks Colin, its good to be back 😀 Thats a shame, I was hoping that during normal daylight the DRLs would come on when you unlock the car. Nevermind. Ill check tonight then if the lights come on during the dark. Yet to try yet. Thanks for the advice.
  16. Hi guys, Its been a while since I sold my is220d but I am back with Lexus after a 2 year gap. Now own a mesa red is300h premier, which I absolutely love. I have been playing around with the customisation, in particular the lights. However, can't find what I am looking for. Does anyone know if you can have the lights or even DRL turn on when you unlock the car? I thought the DRL would come on. Also, when adjusting the light sensitivity. Does the minus mean the lights are less sensitive so they come on later? I basically want them to come on sooner so have used the max button. Thanks for any help. Gradually getting used to all the gadgets in this car 🙂
  17. Hi guys, Been a while since my last post, but still have my "trusty" IS220d. Coming up to 115,000 miles and to this day the only problem has been a seized rear brake caliper!! I know the 220d gets a lot of stick on this forum, but mine has never let me down. Anyway, so I have moved to south wales, relocated from Southampton, and would like some recommendations on a reliable garage. The only Lexus dealer in Wales, Cardiff, has seriously let me down. It had taken them 5 months to replace my windscreen after the side seal coming loose due to being poorly fitted (this happened several times). If they can't replace a windscreen I don't want them touching anything else! I have also used Osaka in Newport, bit pricey and quite a trek as I live near Aberdare and Gerry Hill Toyota were more of a sales garage than a service/repair garage. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
  18. You cannot please anyone these days www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-43204734 Petrol or Diesel, both are equally as bad. Hybrid, electric or even hydrogen/oxygen powered cars are the way forward.
  19. Thanks for the comments regarding the PO-40 Mod. Will be looking into this and getting an auto-electrician to sort. I don't trust myself!!
  20. Is there really that much difference with the gear ratio between the sport and standard model?
  21. The PO-40 mod does sound great, definitely a mod I would like to do. I would just be worried about doing it wrong and messing the electrics up. I haven't done any wire soldering etc before, well maybe at school years ago. Is there a step by step guide? Like you, I would want the mirrors to close on the first lock.
  22. Folding Mirror Mod....? What is this? Don't they already fold, mine do, just by pressing the button. Sorry if I don't quite understand!!
  23. I know as I have the sport the gear ratio is slightly different, but I do get a lot of use out of the 6th gear. When driving at 70mph the car is around 2200rpm, which for me I think is about right. I wouldn't want to use it any lower. At 70mph using 5th gear the car is at around 3400rpm which for me feels too high.
  24. So it has been a while since my last post and I just wanted to write a post, out of respect, towards my 2007 IS 220d. I know it doesn't have the greatest reputation here; however, I don't want any potential owners to think they are all a heap of crap!! Purchased Luna (couldn't think of any other name at the time and now its stuck) summer 2016, got her home after a 150 mile commute and I received the dreaded check VSC warning. No limp mode, just a warning light and message on the dash. I found an independent Lexus/Toyota specialist not to far from my home, company is called LexTech and is based near Southampton. Stuart, the owner and mechanic, is an absolute brainbox when it comes to Lexus and I highly recommend him. First thing he said was "Why on earth did you buy a diesel Lexus?", that's when I first found out about the 220d's reputation. The check VSC was a DPF fault, brought the car at 70,000 miles, hoping it had been driven as a diesel should have been. Guess not!! He did a regeneration and all was sorted. The garage I brought it from paid for the work after Stuart phoned them basically saying that sold me a car knowing it had a DPF issue as it wouldn't get blocked just from my 150 miles commute. Luna is now at just over 100,000 miles, other than a seal replacement on one of the injectors she has been an absolute dream. I do clean the EGR valve out every 5,000 miles or so and do a daily commute of around 100 miles. She has Esso fuel 1 week and then premium fuel the next. Passed her MOT last year and still no advisories, the mechanic said underneath she looks as good as new. From the 30,000 miles I have got so far, I would have to say she is the best car I have ever owned. I doubt there are many cars out there on a 2007 plate with the kit we Lexus owners have, reverse camera, sat nav, dvd player just to name a few. Not only that but the car itself hasn't aged to badly, stick a private plate on it and people would assume it is a lot newer that it is. MPG isn't the greatest, I get around 30mpg, I do have the sport version with difference gear ratios so not sure if that is why I get the reduced MPG. That would be my only negative about the 220d oh and first gear being pathetic. I haven't done many mods to her, but I am thinking about having a bit of work done. EGR blanking and possible remap.... also not sure about DPF. Anyway, I just want to give some praise to a car which gets a lot of stick on here. Yeah the 220d's might not be as reliable as the petrol's; however, from my experience, she has been very reliable and nothing like the general feedback the 220ds receive on here. As long as you know how to look after and drive a diesel you could end up with a very nice car. Don't assume all IS220d's are the same. Big love for the 220d's..... touch wood head gasket doesn't go tomorrow!! 😊
