  1. I know the sport version has different gearing to the standard models so that would explain the difference in rpm... If you have the sport model too then I have no idea!! I do just over 100 miles a day so definitely isn't anything to do with short journeys. How would I know if my egr is faulty? Maybe I am over reacting with the carbon deposits and it is the standard amount. Avon tuning (recommended on here) will do a stage 1 remap and egr deletion for £300. Will probably do that as heard good things.
  2. Can you confirm where the MAP sensor is? Might of cleaned it as I did clean a few sensor located around the EGR valve and the sensor near the air filter (MAF I believe). cheers.
  3. Thanks for the responses. Paul - A few months ago I thought I was possibly changing up to 6th too early; however after reading some posts on here I found out that 6th gear was useless for the standard 220d and not the sport, due to the gearing. When I am driving in 6th gear at 70mph the car is at 2200 rpm, which I thought would be fine??? 5th gear at 70mph is around 3400rpm, which for me felt too high, so I decided 6th should be fine for 70mph+ I used to use supermarket fuel. Since my last egr clean (1000 miles ago) I have only been using shell nitro v power and will continue to use this or BP ultimate. As I am thinking about blanking the EGR anyway, I may just blank the faulty one rather than buy a new one and get that blanked.
  4. Morning!! I have a question that I need some help with regarding the EGR Valve. I believe mine to be faulty as it needs to be cleaned like every few weeks (even though I drive 100 miles a day), plus my fuel consumption has dropped - 33.5mpg. Been thinking about getting it blanked and remapped. However, is it better to buy a new EGR Valve and get that blanked or just get the current faulty EGR Valve blanked? Does it make a difference as technically once blanked the EGR isnt really doing anything. Thanks for your help.
  5. I also have an IS220d, owned for about 8 months now and the only issue I have had is the rear ceased brake calipers. Mine is an 07 plate with 86k miles on the clock, it is the sport model. I do 90 miles a day and haven't had a single issue, couldn't fault the car. From the 8 months experience I have had I am a very happy Lexus owner and I will keep with the brand. Probably upgrade to the 300h in a few years. I do suffer from low MPG, very lucky to get over 35mpg and that is driving no more than 80mph on a dual carriageway. Then again the comfort and luxuries make up for it!! If you know how to drive and maintain a diesel car then you wouldn't have any issues with it. I dont understand why people buy a diesel if they drive 10 miles down the road and then moan when they get a blocked DPF.
  6. Hi Shahpor, Thanks for the welcome and reply. Sounds like a bit of a mission then, will have to get it looked at when I have some spare money. Just had to change both the rear calipers and discs!! No problem, the company is called Lex-Tech, the garage is hidden away. Post code is SO32 3PD, number 01489 877125. Speak to Stuart, he is the owner, a very helpful and genuine guy. I will try and record a video and post it up.
  7. Many thanks for the advice. It doesn't sound like the actual pedal, or an interior noise. The "thud" is coming from the engine or under the car.... I think anyway. Will definitely get the engine mounts checked. Is there an easy way to check if they have had it?
  8. Hi Guys, Firstly, just want to say this is my first Lexus and I know many of you are not a fan of the IS 220d, I am loving it. It did take some getting used to, especially the gearing (although I did pay the extra to get the sport), still a clunky. I have owned the car now for about 7 months and it has 86k on the clock, its a 57 plate. Full Lexus service history, but I did get the dreaded DPF fault after a month. This was repaired by a highly recommend Lexus specialist in Droxford, Hampshire. I do commute 90 miles a day, fingers crossed I don't get that fault again!! Anyway, recently I have noticed that when I release my foot of the accelerator it makes a weird thud. If I turn the radio off it is very noticeable. Has anyone else suffered from the same problem or know what it could be? It does appear to be more noticeable at speed; however, it does make the noise every time you lift your foot quickly off the accelerator pedal. Any help would be appreciated. Many thanks
