I'm going for a compromise solution, buying the genuine arms but getting the local garage to fit them. I plan on keeping it for a few years to come and it's my main car for work, long journeys, going to France etc.

I'll try and get a photo before they come off, the current bushes are starting to crack - it's particularly evident on the outside of each bush.

Mine were completely cracked and starting to split but they were cracked for 3 years so I would say Lexus telling me to change them for previous 2 years was premature. But when they were changed over it was a different vehicle. If it didn’t need a lot more work I would have kept it. Sorry day that.

What is the attraction of buying these parts from Rock Auto in US? Is it that they are cheaper that compatible components that are available at UK parts factors? Or is it that they are only available in the UK from Lexus dealers (at much higher prices)?

I couldn’t get them in uk except Lexus at £335 each vs £200 for both delivered from USA in 5 days all duties and del paid. That’s the attraction cash plain and simple.

  3. When you say readings the same was you touching one of your tester probes to earth and the other to each posi connection as it could be a earth issue in the connector cable to ground, or did you find the ground in the connector and test from there against each positive. Could just be a broken or corroded earth depends where that light packs picks it up from within the wiring loom. Run a loose cable from earth on the body to the connectors earth see if it then performs normally.

Thanks for the replies. Have read lots about the top mount bearing being a problem and also the CV joint. Had a look in the wheel arch and can't see anything obviously untoward. Haven't had a look at the top mount. The car is booked into the garage on the 3rd so we will see what they say. There is also a sort of rumble/hollow noise from the passenger side wheel when we go over a pothole which might be related.

What did the garage find on yours Andy

  5. So after 13 years the original Panasonic Battery was replaced with a new Bosch s4 024 on recommendation from here. In the end it started to manifest a check hybrid fault, cruise control died on motorway doing 70mph, info display for power info died at same time. I changed Battery over and all faults have now disappeared. Thought I would share in case any others had these issues. When I tested the old Battery it showed 11.67v and 20amps so clearly was at the tail end of goosed. I got it delivered by Tanya for £69.83. Just need a vent tube adaptor if anyone can point to one they got.
