  1. if i was to supercharge my is200sport would it seriously reduce my already short 1st gear range

No it will be the same, only you get there faster, you main problem is finding a supercharger :o

is the charger a stock item or will it have to come of something different.i do have a few quid coming my way soon so i have been thinking on the lines of the supra twin turbo i believe it will be around the 4 grand Mark fitted, just need to find some where with more info on the subject

which one would be the more sensible choice???

No new tte superchargers left mate, 2nd hand is your best bet, about 2k, for the supra twin turbo fitted, i should think lots more than the 4 grand mate, where did you here that ?

  2. As some of you will know , I recently bought the supercharger kit that Chris - Aztec bandit had for sale after his unfortunate incident.

After gathering a couple more parts including new belt, water pump, timing belt, tensioner, new plugs, brake discs , pads etc I took the car down to Charlesworth Motors - about 280 miles away. Stopped the night had a few beers in nice local pub across the road and got to garage for them opening .

By 10.00am the bumper was off and brake discs/pads /oil change etc all done. Next up was the timing belt.It should have been the water pump but they did the belt then realised I wanted water pump fitted as well... should have heard the guy when he saw the box with the pump sitting unopened. He got that seen to though and obviously has to redo the timing belt. About this time Gord rolls up to keep me company so we go across the road and he was well ****** off when the bar across the road had no stella.... anyway , cheers for the company matey - would have been a long day hanging round if you never made it.

Back to garage to see progress on the charger fitting. - intercooler was on and the air induction kit fitted and also charger itself. Now for all the pipework.

Almost the last piece of jigsaw was wiring up the FCD. Even Stevie needed to have a quick look at the instructions for that.

Down off the ramps and the heavens opened just in time for test drive. Stevie drives - and all you can hear is the whine and the car dissappears down a hill. Seriously thought might not see it coming back in one piece due to the rain. Anyway , 5 long minutes later he appears with big smile , thumbs up all good then I get to test drive it on the 280 miles home...

The biggest thing to get used to is the whine off the charger rather than the performance difference. TBH wasnt too keen on the noise at first but kinda grown to like it . Even my wife describes it as ' sounds like a beast waiting to escape' . Over the last 1000 miles I have grown to like the charger better and better . The car also seems to have lost a slight hesitancy I thought it had on the way home - maybe just the ECU relearning ??

Anyway , long story I know. The main point I am making is that a big up for Stevie and the boys at charsleworth - was well worth the trip down. IMO dont let anybody fool you, the fitting of these kits is not as straightforward as you may have been led to believe. I reckon well worth paying these guys for the reassurance they can give you and so far no problems at all.

Lastly - cheers Gord - hopefully stella back in stock next time mate.

    Cheers Kev

Was nict to meet you to Kev :winky:

  6. why cant you take it?

    dont the locks work?

they do but insurance was granted on basis it had a cat 2 alarm which I thought it had.....they will not pay out for theft as it is now....its in a locked compound in a locked & alarmed workshop so quite safe

Should be ready for me to take it to the ring though :winky:

Don't imports have to have cat 1 fitted when they come into the uk ? or is this just on newer cars coming into the uk ?

  7. Thought not :whistling:

Anyway from what Phil was telling me at santa pod, James (i think) has done lots of work on this engine in the past (way over 300bhp) so with the work he has done to Phil's car it is making 300bhp no problem :D

Do the the math...also go to each website................

if as you say its WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY over 300 bhp lets see the dyno....I've pointed people at where mine are.....also will pay for his car to go to germany to do a top speed shoot out :whistling:

Or santa pod (did the car do a run ?........ think my is350 did a 14.1 (Can't find the slip & it was damp)

Or any track day.......even in my 270 bhp 1992 jalopy :whistling: or the IS350 or the wifes bog standard mr2 ZZW30

    Please read my post :whistling:

  8. much as I love the place its getting very expensive.

fuel to get there / hotels...........you really want a 4 lap ticket mounts up....

probably get 2 full track days over here for what you pay....

howver will still probably go !

A track day around a very small track @ RAF base is just not the same :o i can see why you like it mind ..... its cheap :P

think i've done more track days and trips to the ring than you old boy

hope to see you at the ring at the weekend as my car should be ready for wednesday

BTW its not a track day you refer to its a competition there are places available so you can always bring your lexus along to show me how its done.............

Nothing to say then Gord ????????????????????????

    mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm thought so

Well yes Dave i do, the only time i can last was what against ? your 420bhp aristo ? or all the other more powerful cars of the day, but i seem to remember doing rather well the last time in went to such a track day :whistling: big old German slug i think you once called it ? seem to remember getting much better times than your 370bhp lexus :whistling:

I did note, you not said you came last in the time attack series or anything else you may or may not have entered :whistling:

  9. hi,re-joined l.o.c to flog my running aristo turbo for parts-how do i upgrade to gold when ive already joined?is this the only way i can sell it or shall i just use ebay?

You might be better off selling your aristo bits on a aristo web site :winky:

  11. I inititally fitted mine without any lube and every gear was like that!!

Might be worth popping it back out, lubing it all up and try refitting it to see if that makes any difference?

After that it wasn't too bad at all :)

I did put quite a lot of gearbox grease on the shifter but ill have a go at putting a bit more in the gearbox opening itself.

Thanks for all your help guys,

Would be great if i could find out where to get the trd shifter from and how much it cost

The TRD shifter was well over £200 mark mate, i did sell the B&M so got some money back to fund it :winky:

The TRD was 100 times better just like the standard one :D i got it from prolex many yrs ago now

  12. Hey all,

Recently purchased a B&M kit of the bay for decent price - I fitted it today; forward gears work like a dream but selecting reverse seems to be almost impossible to select without using TWO HANDS!!??

I'm pretty sure ive fitted correctly and got my old man to have a look at it too (he's a mechanic) and we can't figure out why its so stiff when trying to get into reverse.

Reading some of the other posts i see that other people have encountered the same problem but not to the same extent - i mean i'm no weakling but this just seems ridiculously hard to do!

Any help or advice on this much appreciated . . . thanks,

Yep mine was the same :o

Did you find a solution to it or is it summat im gonna have to get used to?

Well you sort of have to live with it mate, but in the end i got TRD one, that was 100 times better :D
