Well 4 years with my Mesa Red IS300h and I've now move on to this..

Er, its a Kia.... Stinger 3.3 Twin turbo.

Must say that the amount of toys this thing has makes the Lexus look a little poor by comparison.

Quality wise. I'm impressed, and this thing is seriously fast.

Is300h is definitely not a car for petrolheads. I'm coming from a 330d and I'm also quite disappointed with some stuff. The only thing Lexus can't be beat is at reliability.

Not sure if you got this sorted already but although you are in "P", make sure the foot brake/handbrake is engaged too. Hopefully that should work.

I had already given up, but you were absolutely right. With the "handbrake" it works.

Thank you so much! This is to put some videos in an usb pen for my daughter to watch when we are parking waiting for mummy or something...:)

No idea about the miles conversion bit as I'm pretty sure its quite involving to reprogram the cluster to do as we would assume a simple task. The TPMS module, are you handy around taking trim panels out? you would need to access the TPMS transmitter module in the passenger REAR C pillar trim. To do it properly you would have to strip quite alot to get to that panel.

I see...I then believe it's too much hassle for the advantages of it. Just really can't understand why car manufactors don't provide proper costumer service with these kinds of "updates" even with additional costs...

If you cannot leave the vehicle for two weeks or less without the battery going flat then replace it as it has lost capacity, which only gets worse each time you flatten it.

If you regularly leave your vehicle for more than two weeks then consider fitting a larger battery, or get a solar charger to help out.

If you only make short journeys then you aux battery may never get fully charged so worth giving it a charge before you leave it for a long period.

Check your insurance policy before you leave it with a disconnected battery/no alarm.

I do every day a journey of 20 miles to work (40 miles total) with highway for most of the time (engine working).

I believe my Battery it's already at the end of life and probably it will have to be replaced at the anual maintenance in October, but till then I wanted this one to last... 🙂

it was working fine (2 weeks was not enough to have issues starting the car). Now it seems that 2 weeks is already too much so I'll just hope it doesn't get completely drained in 3 weeks so when I return at least I don't have to reset windows, etc... 🙂

Yes, the solar panel I linked to above. It works with either natural daylight or artificial lights from underground car parks - probably not as well, but it does work.

I'm assuming you have a jump start battery pack, which is the thing you refer to as "a portable remote charger boost" that looks something like the picture below? If so, then no, there's nothing like that that you could keep connected because the battery in that would just go flat like your proper car battery does.

    You've only got four options:

    1. Access to mains so that you can use a trickle charger
    2. Solar panel
    3. Battery goes flat and you use a jump start battery pack when you get back.
    4. Disconnect negative terminal from 12V battery and put up with having to reset windows, power locks etc.

Many thanks for the reply. Not sure what to do here.

What exactly is needed to reset windows, power locks etc as I know that when I return from my trip one way or the other the Battery will be gone? 🙂

  6. Writing here so I don't create a new post about the same topic.

Any idea on how to manage this when you have no electricity plug available to connect a maintenance Battery to the car?

I have a portable remote charger boost which I used today after the car was parked for 15 days and had not enough Battery charge to start properly.

Soon I'll be 3 weeks away and wanted to avoid the Battery to be completely empty when back.

    thanks,

    Bruno

Sadly, I think perfection is unobtainable, no matter how much you pay! There'll always be something.

My missus's 17 year old Yaris is a brilliant bit of kit 😁😁

    😁

Perfection is subjective yes, but what we are discussing here is simple stuff...for example never had any issue with cold/hot air in my old VW EOS, built 10 years before than my lexus...
