  1. I picked up an older model and I would avoid like the plague. I have only done 150 miles in it and now I have a major fault with the hybrid system, no idea of the cost yet as it conked out just before the trip to the in laws for xmas. So much for the much lauded Lexus reliability.
  2. Thanks for your replies. The display was still showing the battery and the other flowing paths. Yes when coasting it looked like it was sending current back from the look of it. However I couldn't see if it was running from Battery on dial in front of you.
  3. Private sale so no warranty. I had loaded the car up and was setting off for the in laws. The car suddenly pings with the amber warnings of the sliding car and an amber brake warning by the C of the temp gauge. The Middle dial display then says "Check Hybrid System" and "VSC something". There was also an "AFS(?)" warning light amber flashing on the right hand dial. I limped to the lexus dealership but being it was Sunday the service department was not working. When I started the car again the warning triangle was red so I limped home as i was unable to get the dealer to check it per the manual. I touched the brake disks and the fronts were very hot (could be touched but not for long) the backs were warm but not massively. Anyone had any experience like this? Any advice?
  4. Thanks @welland for your response. I will ask my local garage about that then. Luckily mine was services by Lexus up to 99k so the timing belt was done which is nice. I have looked and the non OEM brands are substantially cheaper so will probably use them if the garage allows it. The key is still a bugger, I am getting a new battery as the thing is starting to not unlock unless I press it in a particular way...
  5. I have purchased an 2006 RX400h and I enjoyed the 150 mile drive home, a little thirsty compared to the wife's 1 series but all round enjoyable drive. The previous owner only had one key, which unfortunately was in a third party fob. I need to change the battery in it asap but I would like to get 2 official keys sorted out. Any advice on the best (and cheapest) reliable place to buy these? Also the brakes disks are a bit shafted so I am wanting to get these sorted. What sort of price should I be looking at for replacing all 4 corners? I have found the parts online and disks seem reasonably cheap as do the pads but I am assuming the whole disassembly will be the expensive part. I am hoping to use OEM parts if I can. I realise this isn't an exciting new model like a lot have on here but the community from what I have seen is pretty welcoming.
