Well it's been a long few days, but she's home! All clean and shiny too! 😎
-
All sorted - no dramas.
Only advisory was on the rear brakes getting low, which was on my to-do list anyway. I must have been in a lazy mood, as I've just asked them to deal with it - most unlike me!

Fingers crossed.
I felt the same when I had my CT loaner.Tis a wierd feeling. Usually worrying with any new car that I don't 'know', but it has an extended warranty so what is there to worry about?!
The CT is too small, too slow (and not even that economical), horribly unintuitive inside (how is this progress?!) and rides like, well almost any other new car I guess. Hope they do better next time. Shame there's no new GS to tempt me with, but I guess it's not beyond the realms of posibility that I'll end up with an IS next - just not whilst I have so many massive child seats to fight with!

In for MOT with Lexus. I have a shiny new CT200h as a courtesy car. I want my GS back!

Like members of my family you're probably having trouble keeping up. I do have my OG9-3 Convertible but I recently weakened and picked up a 2005 9-5 Aero saloon. That's the one I took to Karl. 82k miles and £1350. Silly not to really.
Hey Josh, sorry about your thread
Just referring to what it says in your profile 😉

Actually it's just me moving around a lot.
While I'm sure Hirsch are still a force to reckoned with I'm pretty sure NoobTune can offer all that for a fraction of the cost. I went to see Karl a couple of weeks ago and my Aero is ridiculous now.
Anyhoo, the OP isn't going to buy a Saab. Even though he should Did I mention how cheap they are?
Is yours an OG or has Karl started doing the NG 9-3s? Mine was a 'st3' 9-5. The fun's in getting stuck in yourself though - download a copy of T7 suite and have a play!
For more sensibile people though, NoobTune is definitely the place to go. 😎

Tis amusing to see how many Saab fans are on here, having recently arrived from UKSaabs myself! 😎

I tried looking this up the other day but drew a blank.
The brochure only lists 3 interior colours but not their respective codes; https://www.lexus.com/documents/brochures/2010/2010-Lexus-GS-Brochure.pdf
The UK equivalent which you can get from here:
https://www.lexus.co.uk/owners/your-vehicle/#past-brochures
...refers to lB02 as 'Ivory', but all you'll find on a Google search (for Lexus LB02) is US cars for sale advertised as having LB02 parchment leather.
Ideally someone would sell a dye/repair kit which referenced the code, but I can't find such a thing anywhere - they all sell Ivory and Parchment as different colours!

Hmmm. Perhaps I should have posted this somewhere more central where non-GS owners might have seen it too!

My '05 Saab 9-5 Aero is the first car I've ever owned that specifies the use of 98RON in the handbook. It even warns against the use of anything else.
I can continue my V-Power affectation with a clear conscience.
Goes like the clappers too.
In this case, Trionic 7 effectively reduces the torque request when it senses knock. It'll run fine on normal fuel if you need to though - no need to panic if you get caught short!

If you have a laptop then a miniVCI cable from eBay will come with a copy of Techstream, which is the diagnostic software that Toyota/Lexus techs use in the dealer workshops. Of course, this is a pirated copy so it's a matter for your own conscience to use it or not but you can download the same software free of charge from Toyota/Lexus officially and pay for a block of time to use it. Either way, you'll still need the cable anyway.
Any recommendation on which one to go for? None of the ones I had a quick look at actually stated that they come with Techstream, but that might just be for the obvious reason!

Recently purchased a Lexus IS 300h..... great car.
I regularly put BP Ultra (97 Ron) in my previous car (VW Eos 1.4 Sport), and felt that it benefitted from this grade of petrol.
I am quite happy to use this grade in my Lexus but was advised against this by the salesman, on the basis that “it will burn out the valves”
Any comments / advice would be appreciated......
The short version: the salesman is talking nonsense.
Slightly longer: higher octane fuel will provide a performance benefit (beyond any claims WRT 'cleaning' etc.) only if the engine is mapped to take advantage of the increased resistance to knock that such fuel offers. This could be through more aggresive ignition timing (which would be retarded if knock was detected e.g. through the use of lower octane fuel), or (in a forced-induction engine) through boost levels. Without any details on how the engine management system on your car works I can't comment on whether it has any capacity to take advantage of higher octance fuel. The concept of it having a negative effect and 'burning out the valves' is nonsense, though.

Lex-tech aren't a million miles away, over towards Eastleigh...

Just to update this: the pump wasn't plugged in and (/because) the pipes were in a right state! Someone has had issues with it in the past and bodged/failed to fix it. Not a drama as I knew about the problem when I got the car, but (following the latest rule changes) would have become a MOT issue this year. Tested to confirm the actuators/jets are ok, and I now have the bits to rectify the rest. Frustratingly, I couldn't find any 10mm I/D pipe anywhere local to deal with it there and then.
For reference (as per my question above), the actuators are indeed 'powered' by water pressure.

Looking to do a couple of minor touch-ups on the leather in my 2010 GS450h. The trim colour code is LB02 - can anyone tell me what colour that was referred to as? Ivory/parchment? I can't find anyone who supplies a leather repair kit specifically referenced against LB02.

It was cheap! Pics to follow when it's not filthy... It's had a knock on the NSF corner a few years ago which wasn't repaired all that well - I'll stick a new wing on it, probably a bumper cover too. The appeal of this one was that it's newer and lower milage than I'd otherwise budgeted for, it was cheap enough to still be quids-in once it's all sorted, and also the minor point about it still being under extended warranty, which I can extend for another 2 years...
I was never really interested in the non-hybrid GS. Would have preferred an LS to a GS430, and the 300 didn't really excite me... I was originally looking for an LS430, but my local Lexus specialist convinced me that the 450h was the way to go. Once I'd driven one, it wasn't going to go any other way!

If I remember correctly when lights are on first use of windscreen should also trigger headlamp one - you could use that to check the button.
Nope... So that should rule out the button at least - unless there's more than one fault of course.

I'm having the same problem with my (new to me) 2007 rx400h. I've yet to find and check the fuse. Filled the windscreen washer fluid to full. Headlights on and nothing, can't hear any pump noises either.
The owner's manual will tell you where the fuse is... Not that it would 'fix' whatever had caused the fuse to blow in the first place, just worth checking in the first instance.

Next I would press the button and listen if pump is starting. If yes check pipe work.
Thanks. The former is an easy test at least! I did try the latter, but couldn't hear anything from where I was stood reaching in through the window to press the button. I need an assistant for next time, but that's what kids are for, right?!
Anyone know whether they should operate with the car 'on' but not 'ready'?

Don't forget the headlights need to be on for the headlight washers to work just incase you didn't take that into account
Thanks, but unfortunately I did already know that - shame as it would have been about the easiest 'fix' you could imagine!

So, first thing to sort out on my 2010 GS450h - pressing the button to wash the headlights achieves precisely nothing! All I've checked so far is the fuse. I'll pull the bumper cover off at the weekend and see what there is to be seen, but any tips in advance of that would be appreciated... What's most likely to have gone wrong? Switch? Pump? Blocked hose? Actuators?
One specific question: is there anything electronic in the system other than the pump? I.e. are the actuators that raise the washer jets 'powered' by water pressure or is there more to it than that?
Any input much appreciated!

Took me a while to get round to this, didn't it.
Few things to sort out, but overall pretty pleased... it's not a high spec car by any means, but even the SE is hardly spartan. & Being newer than I expected to get brings useful things like Bluetooth/usb/aux rather than a tape player!
