Thanks for the input, I guess if anything can do these kinds of miles it's a Lexus.

The one thing, more than any other, which make me a little apprehensive is that the car is straight piped - which is something I really don't like and would have to address immediately.

Does the ISF use the same exhaust / cat system as the 250 or is it bespoke? (I'm assuming so)

Having the entire exhaust system redone would quickly erase most of the savings I'd make going for this one, at which point I'd be better off just spending a few grand extra for a fully stock one on lower miles.

I'm also somewhat tempted by the Cat S one, given how low the mileage is (+ facelift), but my brain is telling me to run for the hills.

Totally different exhaust compared to the is250. I'd sell you an OEM Catback exhaust if you want.

Hi once again. I have a question about this vacuum valve. Is this possible during stop to check if its works or not? What are conditions to activate this valve?

    1) Remove the vacume pipe, start the car. The pipe should be sucking in air.

    2) Drive over 4500 RPM and notice the intake sound.

They're the easiest way to check.

Absolutely, follow that link and it should take you to it. Any issues direct message me 👍. Same again, if you know anyone else in an F that is attending Japfest but not on the stand, send them the link to join the chat too. F family 🤟🤟

Thanks, there's two groups on that link? I've joined one and requested to join the other.

    Hello all,

I am looking to see if anyone has a valved ISF exhaust sitting around? Yes, yes, like rocking horse excrement I know, but worth a pop.

I have a SS Hayward and Scott system, but looking for something I can change between all out noise and OEM. Predominantly for track and those early mornings!

    Thanks.

    Hey Rich,

Let me know if you sell the H&S exhaust!

I've heard of people doing this and am wanting to try it but just worried if there are any long term impacts to the car from doing this.

The flap opens anyway after about 3200ish and sits open when the car is off so I am guessing there would be no downside other than maybe some heat soak?

Are there any known issues with capping the vacuum line other than heat soak? I am guessing some people have had the flap open for years by now, especially some of the ISF guys.

Haven't heard of any long term problems, however it does drink A LOT more fuel - maybe it's me, my heavy right foot hearing the intake at 1800 rpm. It does make the intake very bass'y, certainly turns heads if you give it some beans.

  6. The newer versions had updated: steering ECU, suspension; Torsen LSD, Daytime running lights, Bluetooth streaming, updated water pump, updated instrument cluster.

You can tell its a newer version by looking at the steering wheel, if it has a blue bottom then its 2010+ with LSD.

Tyres - look for inner wear. A common issue on all variants. Easily fixed by Figs/RR Racing parts.
Brakes - Lexus will charge you an arm and a leg for each axle. Go to Euro Car Parts, brembo OEM brakes and pads - get them fitted at an indie!
Warranty - if you go for a newer version, even if it doesn't have full Lexus Service History, they will accept it after a check. But, all servicing must be done at Lexus thereafter. IMO it's worth it, £850 or so for 2 years. Had a bit of condensation in my headlights, they covered both lights - parts and labour, easily paid for the warranty.

Other than the advise you've already got, there's not much that goes wrong with these cars.

    Good luck!

  7. Congratulations Billy!

Honestly, it's totally up to you, some insurance companies require it, some don't. It can bring down your premiums but IMO, what you save on the insurance premiums, you pay for in service charges for the tracker.

A ghost immobiliser would be better, approx. £500 with installation.

Direct Line are worth getting a quote from.

Unfortunately they won't insure me even after phoning them.

With insurance there are 3 “excesses”........compulsory excess, voluntary excess and excess prices!

Apparently you can now insure your insurance excess by paying an additional premium on your insurance, this is known as car insurance premium excess protection premium gold standard cover. I wonder if this is also subject to the IPT or insurance tax as I call it.

” Quote me Happy” used to be the slogan for Norwich Union, now Aviva I think, I rang them once for a quote...it wasn’t pleasant they even tried to add my Mrs onto the policy in an attempt to reduce the premium despite me telling them she has never had a licence never mind driven a car.

The eventually quote was triple my usual amount, I put the phone down and muttered “Quote me Wappy”

Apparently LV do good insurance but only for green cars.

Weirdly enough, QMH are much cheaper than Aviva. Hopefully Aviva can price match.

I always use Compare the Market, although the logging system of your quotes leaves much to be desired.

Each year the insurance for my wife's Yaris comes through at a real premium hike, I go on to CTM and always get much lower quotes, she then goes back to her original insurers and gets it down to near CTM's prices. It's a pain but it does save quite a wedge.

That's the first website I check but I've realised something, prices are higher on comparison sites when compared to going direct!

Quotemehappy are Aviva.  Comparison sites or official term "aggregators" are all owned by major insurance companies or banks.

They also "brand stack" where they put brands they own in a very close price bracket and basically fill the screen with the majority of brands they own.

I work for a rather large insurance company who own a smaller Bournemouth based company.  My wife used to work for said Bournemouth based company setting up the brand's on the comparison sites.

Car insurance is relatively cheap at the moment.  I have just renewed my FK8 Civic Type R and the wife's Alfa Giulietta for £370 for the year with a £250 compulsory XS (staff discount helps).  Thought it was funny that the Honda came to 170 for the year and the 10 year old Alfa was 200 🙂

My ISF was just over £200 a couple of years ago

    Good hunting 🙂

£200, Lucky! I doubt I'd ever see that price in London.

Spot on, there is a price to pay for Compare the Market type competitiveness, as I mentioned when the DVLA messed up the registration of my car and motorbike I had to change my details four times and incurred a £30 fee for each one. It was of course in their terms and conditions so I had no choice, and of course getting any re-dress form the DVLA was futile.

There's a reason why it's always hidden in the fine print 😞
