My 70 reg RX has only done 12K miles but I learned today when it was in to have the anti-theft plates fitted that the front tyres are almost down to 3 mil.  Whilst they are still legal, this does seem odd - bought the car from the Lexus dealer only 6 months ago when it had just 11K miles.

Seems excessive  - is that rate of wear normal on 20" Bridgestone Duellers?

I would say this is a little excessive, but may be down to the driving style of the previous owner. Having said that, the RX is hardly a car to throw into the corners 😄 My 2019 RX still has it's original Bridgestone Duelers, and has about 5mm at the front at 6mm at the rear after 17k miles (owned from 3 months old where it had only done 7 miles).

I have the pre-facelift Gen 4 RX, I believe that uses signage / camera only and not any map data.

I too have a pre-facelift 4RX. I also believe this to be true, but sometimes the nav will revert to the national speed limit sign when a speed limit has been displayed and then passed, e.g. temporary speed restriction signs on motorways.

  3. Hi Chaz, welcome to the forums and congrats on your new purchase.

I don't often drop the seats in mine - from memory the levers can be a bit stiff - but yes, those levers should drop the back seats down.

Thank you for all the information guys. What is the annual road tax for the 2017, 2018 or 2019 model year?

For RXs first registered upto and including 31st March 2017, the current rate is £165 per year. For RXs first registered after that date, the current rate is £510 per year (£155 rate for alternative fuel cars, plus £355 for cars with an original list price greater than £40k, until the car reaches 6 years of age).

How did you manage to get a courtesy car at all? And how did they allow you to choose a certain model? Every time I asked one there was nothing available in the next 2-3 weeks. And I didn’t even have a specific need, just a regular car with 4 wheels and tyres.

No issues from Lexus Stockport either regarding courtesy cars for my last 2 services, and the fuel pump recall. I didn't get to choose the courtesy cars (but then again, I didn't ask), but I was more than happy to use one CT and two UXs on those occasions. Was interesting to drive them, and get a basic understanding what the cars are like.

  6. I had a short walkthrough of certain features when I bought my nearly new RX in 2019. The dealer also asked me if I had any questions (I did have a few), but he was happy to answer them. As others have said, the manuals are a mine of information but are quite lengthy. It's possible to order paper copies of the full manuals from Lexus UK if you prefer reading them rather than from a phone/tablet/computer (or at least this was the case when I asked last year).
