  1. This looks perfect, but it's my question too - does it retain all the in-car controls (steering wheel, other functions)? And why won't Lexus treat customers with the older (rubbish) interface a bit better, instead of trying to push me into buying a new model just for the infotainment system? I bought a month before the pandemic and still have less than 10k miles on the clock, so why would I want a new car?
  2. I have had my 2019 CT200h sport model from new, and love it, except for one thing. The infotainment system is horrible! I want to upgrade to touchscreen and Android Play, but Lexus say there is no alternative and I'm stuck with this stone age (and frankly dangerous) manual one that came with the car. I have seen a system that might be perfect (touchscreen, Android play etc) advertised as compatible with the CT range, but am worried that changing it might mean I lose some of the integrated functions (steering wheel controls, reversing camera and such like) and also how it would affect the warranty. I also don't know who would be able to fit it, as Lexus have point blank refused. Any advice?
  3. Thanks to everyone for all the helpful information. I will remember the point about running the car in ready mode - on both occasions where I have called out Lexus breakdown, I was told (not that politely) if I didn't drive the car round for an hour I might as well not have bothered to call them out. At 10pm in the middle of a storm that was not very helpful and quite stressful. Looks like I don't need to fall for it in future 🙂
  4. Thanks Herbie, that post is so helpful! I don't really see myself as a mega car techie who is likely to have to help others out, but you never know! I have had a flattened battery twice, mainly as a result of lockdown (having to shield and not go anywhere). But last night I called lexus breakdown at 6.30pm (still daylight) and the guy finally came at 9.30pm (dark, and I had to drive around for an hour to charge the battery). I just don't want to be in that vulnerable position again, and so I want some way to be self sufficient if my battery dies in future. If this gadget does it, I am happy! But of course, if I come across someone in need it also means I can help them too. I have got standard jump leads, but the location of my car at home means they are useless without a second car to jump off. Hopefully, this gadget will solve my problems - if it helps someone else, that's a bonus! Thank you for your helpful advice - when I retire, I intend to take a course in car mechanics, and with luck I will be a bit less clueless!
  5. Thanks both - this looks just the job - and cheaper than the one I was looking at! I have popped it into my basket 🙂 Many thanks again for the helpful replies.
  6. Hi all After my battery died for the second time last night (after 2 weeks of not being driven) on my year old CT200h f sport, I am looking for a good charger. I wanted to buy cTek, but they all seem to need a 240v mains supply. I live in a block of flats with no access to a mains socket near the car. I have been considering the NOCO power pack charger, but am unsure if this would be the best choice, and they have so many models to choose from I don't know which one I would need, as I am not a techie. Does anyone have a recommendation for a small, portable powerpack charger/jump starter that doesn't need a mains supply and is the same sort of size as the cTek/NOCO? Thanks in advance
  7. Thanks Jack and John - the video is really clear. The proper lexus assistance man finally arrived with jump leads, and I took the car for a half hour run with no problems, so fingers crossed if I do a short run every day for a while it will fully recover!
  8. Thank you both! I wish I'd asked here first - the breakdown guy didn't have a clue and we had to call out an 'expert' 🙂 One thing about Lexus - they seem to make the vital info very hard to find (or is it just me?) All sorted now, tyres and battery - now I know what to do and where to look it will be much easier next time. You guys are really helpful - thanks again!
  9. Hi guys - I am like a London bus (or a rash) today. Can anyone help with this: Went out to check tyre pressures and found the battery dead. No power at all 😞 Called lexus assistance, and a man is outside, but he can't get to the battery to recharge it because all but the driver's door are locked and we can't find a way to unlock them without power. So, he can't charge the battery because he can't get to it! Help! Does anyone know what to do in this situation? Heather
  10. Ala Larj - thank you so much. How embarrassing! I was looking inside the filler cap, where the info has been on my last 4 cars (mercs)! However, it has become a secondary problem, as my battery is completely dead! Ah well, one thing at a time 🙂 Thank you again!
  11. Hi all I'd only had the car a few weeks when lockdown happened, so consequently my lovely new car has been sitting idle on the driveway for 6 weeks! I wanted to check the tyres, but being both a newbie and easily bamboozled, I don't want to make a mistake! Please could anyone advise on the correct front/rear pressures for a 69 plate 200h f sport, with tyres 215/45R17? Many thanks in advance, and sorry if it is a daft question and the answer is somewhere under my nose! Heather
  12. Good morning all and thank you for all the suggestions. I've had a good fiddle about this morning, and the steering wheel option is doing it for me! I didn't realise it was there until you mentioned it, so thank you Dan and David! I did try to sort out voice, but it was pretty disastrous, and going through the command list my options don't seem as extensive as the printed list - every time I tried it I either got 'pardon?' (grr) or the first two digits of a phone number. Hopeless! I looked for the voice recognition training function, but couldn't find it under 'voice' in the settings menu, which is where the manual says to look. After getting thoroughly confused I gave up! if anyone has any tips on how to get this function working, please do let me know! At least now I can navigate, change music sources and make calls without having to take my eyes off the road, which is a huge step forward 🙂 Thanks again for your generous responses.
  13. I'll go and look later on and get back to you if it works - it does sound safer than fiddling with the floppy switch if voice commands and auto switching don't do the trick! Thanks 🙂
  14. Thanks Herbie - I will try that again. When I pressed 'media' the last couple of times it took me back to the menu, but if that does it, I'm happy!
  15. Hi Peter - thanks for replying. Yes, that was my first thought, so I printed off the voice command list, turned it on, and its response to my request was 'Pardon?' A dozen attempts (at several different commands) later I concluded that my Lexus is a bit hard of hearing, or doesn't speak good English. I am going to try the training thing later, which might help. A shame if this is the only alternative though.
