  1. Aaah mann!! am i over complicating this? theres a nother half dozen part number for the pins/ fitting kits?!
  2. Hi all I'm going to use this period of enforced isolation to replace my rear disc and pads on my is220d. I usually don't have the time for it myself, and get a local garage to do it for me, but the close down means that's not happening any time soon. last time they looked at the rears, the pad guide pins were stuck. what are teh chances that I'l screw up the callipers trying to hammer these bad boys out? I don't know if its worth bagging a couple of replacements just in case. But wow these are either expensive or on a long lead time. Also any ideas on part numbers? I found a few; but i would have thought all were compatible. The other thing is, is it worth changing what look like calliper slide pins? any advice gratefully received Dave
  3. Greetings all As the proud owner of a 2006 Is220 with jsut over 110k on the clock, it looks like I'm starting to get into 'trouble territory'. Having put on 70k on the clock in the last three years, I had the dreaded DPF fail last summer. There's a place near me, in Stockton, that does a DPF clean. They took it off the car, and 'washed it' through using water/solvents/whatever. Since then, I've done a further 10k or so without further issue. Until this week. The other night, I got the dreaded VSC/EML combo, and thought - this is it. Oddly, I didn't get the limp home mode that I expected. Last time the DPF failed, I slowed on a busy dual carriageway at rush hour from 70mph to 30mph, and nearly needed to clean the seats. This time, seems the car still runs OK. I'm not back with my car until the weekend, and will get it on the old techstream to see what's happening. But I'm wondering; what am I looking for on techstream. Is there somethng to say the DPF is blocked? I know there are pressure readings, but I don't know what's good/bad. Any help appreciated. In terms of fix... I guess this could simply be a clogged EGR. I haven't taken it off for a clean for about 50k; so hopefully its just that. Any thoughts? Thanks to all for any help. I've found this forum so useful already. Hopefully I can find a way to give back too.
