  1. Im going to get the Wald kit fitted in the next couple of months. But ive heard that you cant drop the car as much with the Wald kit. What would be the best springs to fit with that kit? My wheels are 255/35/20.

I really dont want any rubbing and dont wanna be taking my oil sump off on road humps.

    TDI have...

Lowering spring kit: Reduces height of vehicle by approximately 25mm, and has been developed for use with the standard shock absorbers. TUV approved. £225.00.

And on eBay I can get Tein springs..

    :: Body: UZZ40

    :: Spring Rate Front: 5.6/313 (gf/mm, lbs/in)

    :: Spring Rate Rear: 5.3/296 (gf/mm, lbs/in)

:: Ride Height Front: -32 (mm), -1.3 (inch)

:: Ride Height Rear: -41 (mm), -1.6 (inch)

Most lowered sc430 seem to have the Tein springs, but the drop on those seems to be quite alot.

  2. Hi thanks for the information,

Can you tell me who brought the vehicle in for you,

What year and price was the vehicle with all the Sva and modes that needed converting?

I got mine from http://www.svaimports.com it was the bosses own motor which he brought over brand new. When I got it, it was about 18 months old. I paid £37k.

  3. Just to add...

If your thinking " I dont need Sat Nav as I dont use it"

Then you should still get one thats been converted because it will kill the resale value of the car and from what ive seen dealers dont charge much more for one thats been converted.

  4. The sat nav probably won't work in the UK even if you give it a UK disc.

I bought a Jap SC430 few months ago. I did test drive a UK one at my local dealers. Black with Saddle hide and 4,000 miles on the clock also came with 20" alloys and Sat Nav and Television converted to UK. If you go for a JDM make sure they have changed the sat nav as Ive heard people quoted a couple of grand to change it over. The monitors in the JDM is NTSC so you have to convert the signal.

Jap ones tend to be cheaper and lower milleage.

I got mini disk instead of tape, which is good as I dont have any tapes. Front and rear parking sensors, think UK ones only have rear sensors.

As they had put a standard UK TV tuner in it was quite easy for me to add a 6 disk DVD/MP3 changer and also a line in for my Ipod.. but I can get over a 1000 MP3's on a DVD anyway.

I dont get the service menu on my car. As far as I can remember you can pull up on the screen things like oil change, tyre pressure things like that.

The main reason I bought this one was the low milleage and it had 20" wheels.

  5. Well I never thought I'd say this but " Thank *** for Ikea Furniture! " yep its crap furniture but I found a cheap & nasty 3" long spanner that came with a chest of draws I bought couple of years back... funny thing is the chest of draws fell apart after 6 months. But the spanner still works! :winky:

  6. Thanks to Rocky, I have my MP3 player feeding the Mark Levinson system directly. No FM transmitter or cassette adapter is needed and the sound is greatly improved in dynamic range and frequency response.

Im having problems removing the two 10mm bolts under the headunit/radio.

What tool did you use? Ive got a couple of 10mm spanners and there both too bulky to get under the radio and ive got a socket wrench but theres not enough access to the bolt to get the bloody thing on.

went down to Halfords and B&Q this morning and could'nt find anything suitable. All I can think of doing is cutting one of my spanners in half so I can get it under the radio.

    What did you use?

  7. Its an after market tuner fitted, from what I can tell just conected straight to the monitor because the sat nav is on a seperate channel to the TV.

It shouldnt be a hard job to connect up a tuner and use an input from the tuner for an mp3 player.. You can pick up a tv tuner from about £100.

Im not too sure how easy its going to be to connect it up to the Lexus monitor, but if you goto a decent car audio shop you should be able to get a tuner and them to install it at the same time.

I havent physically found my tuner yet (I think its hidden under the dash) but ive the manual for it and its just a standard tv tuner.

    http://www.cardvd.co.uk have them from £139

  8. Cheers RazRankin, yer Iam a lucky b'stard lol. Wasent that long ago I was driving a beat up old Granada with no test or tax :winky:

Cant believe the looks you get in this car, seems like everyone gawks at this one.

Not sure what should be on the steering, but it looks like this...

    5.gif

And does it come with Mark Levinson soundsystem?

Yes, but mines got minidisc rather then tape.. which is lucky cos I dont have any tapes.

    6.gif

Is that a UK TV tuner?

They've put in a seperate TV Tuner (uk one) but this new tuner has two extra AV inputs.. so thats pretty kewl cos I can wire in DVD Player, Playstation, vid cam etc straight into the back maybe even a PC (depending on how good the resoloution is on the monitor. Could even use it as an audio in for an MP3 player.

Couple of bits are still in Japanese, which they said couldnt be changed.. but Ive pretty much worked out whats what.

  9. Cheers for the advise Chris.

I bought the car yesterday, not for £30k though! :shutit:

Was a nice car and it had been to a few shows so no doubt the same one that was mentioned earlier. Got alot of toys on it minidisc and dvd player and a niffty japanese bird talks to you!

The guy was a Jap importer and apparently it was the bosses motor, one owner bought brand new from japan. He had a field in the middle of nowhere stuffed with Scoobys!

    http://www.svaimports.com/home.htm

Wheels did look nice too, havent got the car yet. Hes delivering to me next week.

  10. i like the sc430 as it is, excellent, a classic car in the making, drives fantastically, why change something that is already the best on the market?

I took a test drive in one the other day, was a lovely drive.. if anything maybe a little too smooth.

Change? only thing I would change is the wheels, the best thing about the original wheels is there easy too clean :yack:

  11. I guess a uk car with less then 5k on the clock is going to be around £44K + from a dealer.

I had a 2002 BMW 330 convertible that was an import and it was a bit of a pig to sell, lovely car but folks just didnt wanna buy an import.

Still theres not really many low mileage sc430 around.

  12. Just gave him a call and its a Jap one, suspension has been sorted and being Jap its got telly on board.

But I wont get a Lexus warranty.

Any of you chaps give me any advise on buying a Jap import. Cheers.

  13. Cheers for your answers, I went to my local Lexus dealers yesterday and Im getting different answers to my questions which is what is confusing me :crybaby:

The suspension isn't broken so you cannot get it fixed.

My dealer says I should get one with a modified suspension which lucky for me all hes second hand ones have.. hes quoted me six months delivery for a new sc430 which is really too long for me.

Also hes saying I should not change the run flats, and Ive made a point that I really dont like the idea of run flats from what ive read.. but he never mentioned that a new sc430 has proper tires, do they?

not trying to sound funny, but if you can afford a SC430, surely the origin of the wheels dont matter.

Ok agree with you there, its just ive read another thread about some chap whos wheels got bent up and stuff and then another thread about someone else who said hes car drove like ******* over 90mph. Maybe im being overly concerned, its just I dont wanna buy a donkey and if I can buy the wheels in the UK least Ive got someone I can bolock over the counter if not the dog and bone :D

btw theres one going on autotrader at a reasonable price with only 5k on the clock and 20" rims, but I think its a Jap import. Do the Jap ones have any problems over here.. I guess UK warranty wouldnt cover it though.

    2002 LEXUS SC430 COUPE/CONVERTIBLE 2002 Onyx

  14. Hi, Im thinking about purchasing an sc430 in the next couple of weeks and would really like a set of 19" or 20" chrome rims. Any ideas where I can get some in the UK (preferably near London).

Ive seen some nice ones going on eBay.com but a bit concerned about them getting damaged in transit / postage costs from states / not fitting the car.. etc etc.

Also im thinking of getting a used sc 430, do all the earlier models have the suspension fixed ie upgraded ? and if not can you just take it to a dealer and get it upgraded free of charge?

    Cheers!
