Hi Richard, Thanks for your reply. No reason just general interest. I have a friend in the U.S. and once stored a car over there for annual trips so still keep in touch with him. He has a GS 450h and thought it might be of interest to us both. I have looked at Hybrid Battery Solutions and was thinking of investigating their hybrid battery conditioner and harness that appears on a You Tube video but couldn’t see anything promoting it on their website. I’ll take another look to see if it’s been updated.

I came across a company online called Hybrid Automotive who sell equipment and services to recondition hybrid batteries for Lexus, Toyota and Honda cars in the U.S.A. They apparently have a distributor in Ireland too. You can also see some videos of them on You Tube. What I wanted to learn was if anyone has had any experience of their products or services? I’ve been advised by my local Lexus dealer that the smart key card is not available for My GS450h unless it was supplied from new. Only the fob is available. I wanted to check with other members here to learn if this is indeed correct? I wanted to add a smart card as it looks more convenient to carry. Thanks for any advice.

Thanks John, I don't drive that much with the current lockdown but have driven back from South Gloucestershire where I bought the car to London. On a weekly basis I take it up the M1 to the first junction just to keep the battery charged and especially after washing it to ensure any residual water is removed. I will clear the codes down and hope they don't return. Cheers.

Hi Johnatg, Thanks for commenting on the P code issue. Are you referring to the Hybrid battery being low or the 12 volt battery? Cheers.

Hi Colin, Thanks, yes I have the paperwork from Lexus so it might justify some of the financial pain. I'll have to cancel my other AA cover. I'm guessing Lexus will send out a card and details in the post once the direct debit is set up. I had hoped being a member of the club might reduce the warranty cost but I don't think so. Hoping my local Lexus dealer in Edgeware will offer a discount on servicing costs.

Hi Colin, Thanks for your advice. No the engine check light wasn't on. I'll re-check the error codes again next week to see if they are still present. The Lexus extended warranty for this model is some £ 1,095.00 for 24 months. I hope it won't be needed but I guess it would be prudent. Cheers.

Hello Lee, Thanks for your welcome. I’ll add some photos soon. The idea of buying a GS 2006-2011 hybrid has been eating away at me for some time. My BMW E39 has been off the road prior to lockdown with a repair so I had an excuse of sorts... I’ve watched all the ads and reviews on You Tube, downloaded all the reviews from across the world ... and still can’t get enough of reading about and watching the technology... The acceleration is amazing and enjoyable. A few dash rattles to resolve and other bits and pieces I’d like to replace like the chrome exhaust tips. I'm a little worried about the hybrid battery but you only live once... Which GS model do you have? Cheers.

Having had a variety of (mainly) petrol cars over the years - Datsun 180B, Jaguar 420G, Fiat X1/9, Honda Accord, Mercedes 300/500SL, Cavalier SRI, Mazda MX-5, Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser, BMW E39 and more I thought it time to try a Hybrid. Amazing is the first word that comes to mind when I put my foot down. I hope the honeymoon is a long one...

Hello, I've recently purchased a 2010 GS450 SE-L with some 37,000 miles on the clock. It came with a three month warranty from the dealer. I have plugged in a OBD unit to see if any faults came up and there are two present DTC PO100 and DTC PO010. I wanted to learn if these codes are serious, important or costly as the dealer warranty will expire in May. I can't get it booked into my local Lexus dealer until after the selling dealer warranty expires due to the Covid shutdown. I am also thinking of taking out an extended Lexus warranty as the car is still under ten years of age and Lexus advise they can still offer a two year warranty if taken out prior to the 10th anniversary. Is it worth the expense? Thank you.
