  1. My IS250 Cabrio is up for sale. Please see For Sale Forum for details.
  2. I have also just completed 2 years of my 2010 IS250 Cabrio ownership. Apart from annual servicing & tyres, I have had to replace the battery & one tyre pressure monitor sensor. I have done about 6k miles in those 2 years, only using it for longish trips (minimum 50 miles - I have a Smart car for local journeys). The car has just completed 38,500 miles. I've found it to be very comfortable & a great car to drive. Unfortunately, I'm finding it difficult to justify (to my wife!) ownership, bearing in mind the cost of Road Tax & insurance whilst doing such minimal mileage so under increasing pressure to sell unfortunately. Pleasantly surprised that a 14 year old car has been so reliable.
  3. Hi Dec, Many thanks for that, very helpful. I'll make enquiries with Lexus Exeter. John.
  4. I have a 2010 is250 Cabrio with 34k on the clock. I haven't driven it for a couple of weeks. Yesterday, I found that the battery was flat so had to use the mechanical key to gain entry. I was certain no lights had been left on in the car - that has happened to me before when the boot was left slightly ajar which flattened the battery. I found that the driver's window, which normally closes the extra ½" once the door is closed, wasn't closing because the roof/window seal had become distorted, preventing the window fully closing. This had put a constant drain on the battery (according to the RAC man). Presumably, I will have to go to Lexus to get a new seal fitted. Anyone any idea what this is likely to cost?
  5. I have an unused space saver wheel & tyre for sale which came from my 2014 is300h. It has never been used & is 'as new.' See photo. Size: 125/70/R17. Make: Continental. Price £100.00 plus postage.
  6. I have had a similar problem with my Cabrio. The battery hasn't gone flat, been disconnected or replaced in my 6 months ownership. When I leave the car now I always ensure that the window lock is on & since then, have not had a problem.
  7. The brake pedal has to be pressed quite hard & you will hear a 'beep' as opposed to a buzzer. The slip indicator will flash while the hill start assist is in action, usually for just a couple of seconds. (At least it does on my 2010 IS250C).
  8. Many thanks for your replies. As I always keep the keys in my trouser pocket it could well be that the key fob buttons are being pressed when I sit down, for example. Presumably, the sparrow didn't set off the alarm as the unlock button must have been pressed. Will have to take more care in future (& read the handbook!).
  9. This morning I found that the two front windows on the car were open about a quarter of the way down. Not only that but a sparrow had flown into the car & pooped everywhere (well - all over the dashboard). It was still alive & flew off quite happily when I opened the doors. I had a similar experience about a month ago when I found the car with all the windows wide open. I am absolutely positive that I never left the car with the windows open on either occasion. Is it possible that the remote key fob has at sometime been programmed that by pressing the buttons the windows will open - something that could happen with the keys in my pocket? I am also concerned that the sparrow did not set off the alarm system. Any thoughts on this would be welcome. The car is a 2010 is250C with 32k on the clock. I have owned it since February this year.
  10. Hi Mike, Do I need to purchase all the fittings for that wind deflector i.e. remove the blanking plates & fit the Lexus parts as in this article? Lexus Wind Deflector.pdf
  11. Many thanks Dec, very helpful. Next time I put the lid down I'll be armed with some tape.
  12. I also have a rattle in my 2010 250C (33k miles). It only happens with the roof up when passing over uneven surfaces (of which there are many in this neck of the woods!). I will not be spending £1k with Lexus to sort it!
  13. Thank you. Will try eBay & breakers - its the genuine OEM ones that I want.
  14. Thanks for that. It is only the front mats I'm looking for. Doubt if I'll be carrying anyone in the back. I'll try Lexus parts.
  15. Does anyone know if Lexus still supply rubber floor mats for the IS 250 Cabrio? If not, can anyone recommend some which use the same floor fixings? I hate mats which slide around.
  16. Hi Texas & True Blue, On my previous Lexus - a 2014 IS300H - I was able to transfer contacts from my iPhone 6 & 13, just by following instructions in the handbook. Going by your experience then it looks like I'll just input my regular callers manually. I didn't realise this subject had been discussed before.
  17. Hi Barry, I had been looking for a IS250C for sometime. I nearly purchased an example in Hull 6 months ago with only 19k on the clock - & then I saw the interior - black & red seats! It looked like - what I can only imagine - a tart's boudoir.😱. I think it was a limited edition model when it was coming to the end of production. Another came up in North London with 24k but I didn't like the dealer's attitude so I pulled out. Besides, it had the same colours.......may even have been the same car as the one from Hull. There is (was) another on sale at Lexus Milton Keynes at £16k with 24k on the clock which was tempting but my wife vetoed the colour - light maroon with beige interior. An SC430 was tempting but it is a thirsty beast as well as incurring £600 road tax every year. The one I saw in Chesterfield looked beautiful but was on sale at £23k. The garage reckoned they could probably get more for it in the Spring! Looking forward to some open air motoring again (but not this week - Dudley & Eunice on the way).😫😫
  18. I have been able to connect up my iPhone 13 aboard my IS250C but I'm unable to transfer my contacts. After following the procedure in the handbook I keep getting the message 'Contact transfer failed.' The handbook goes on to state: "If your cellular phone does not support PBAP or OPP service, you cannot use this function. If your phone does not support PBAP service, you must transfer the phonebook data by operating your phone." Can anyone advise on how to transfer my contacts or is this impossible with an iPhone 13 & IS250C?
  19. Here's a nice one Mark - at a price! https://lmselect.co.uk/vehicle/name/lexus-sc-430-285-bhp/
  20. Steve, The establishment from which I bought my 250 also had a beautiful SC430 for sale - 50k on the clock but the asking price was £22k! Photo attached.
  21. Hi Steve, Chesterfield (with the crooked spire). Spent the night at The Portland Hotel (Wetherspoons) in the centre of town. Can thoroughly recommend it - very comfortable room & very modern & soundproofed from all that was going on in the huge bar/restaurant downstairs. I did more miles driving back to Devon than the car had done in the last 3 years!
  22. Hi Linas, According to the handbook, after turning on the ignition, if there is a fault with the TPMS the warning light will flash for about 1 minute before remaining on permanently. That is what is happening with my system so I assume that there is not a tyre pressure problem. My local garage tells me that it is either a sensor problem or a sensor battery problem. Either way, I'll let them sort it as it is under warranty for 6 months but thanks for your input. Thanks for your comments Dave. I certainly found on my drive back home what an effortless cruiser it is. If the onboard computer is to be believed, I achieved 35.1 mpg over the 250 mile trip, pretty well all motorway.
  23. Last week I sold my is 300H for a little more than I paid for it 18 months ago. It was a good, comfortable, reliable car but - prior to buying it - I had always had convertibles & wanted to go back to that means of transport. After searching for some months I eventually found a suitable low mileage example 'oop North,' some 250 miles away. Got the train up & stayed in the local Wetherspoons overnight before driving back to Devon the next day. Had a lovely drive back - pretty well motorway all the way (M1, M42, M5) & very quiet, being early Saturday morning. The only problem I had was that the TPMS warning light came on so stopped at the first service station & checked all tyre pressures - all correct. After checking the handbook, it would appear that the TPMS system is at fault (faulty sensor?) so it's going into the garage this week for sorting under warranty. My car is 2010 registered with 30k on the clock. Photo attached. Looking forward to Spring/Summer!
  24. Thanks for the info John. That's a hefty price for what - after all - is just a bit of mesh stretched between some metal poles! I have seen some after market ones much cheaper but these don't seem to fold in the middle so won't fit in the boot when not in use.
  25. Do Lexus supply a wind deflector for the IS 250C? If so, are there any modifications required for it to be fitted? Can it be folded up & put in the boot when not in use?
