Hey @corpjones, I use this one: Wireless CarPlay for Lexus NX RX IS ES GS RC CT LS LX LC UX – Road Top

Just make sure to select the correct navigation option based on your car (e.g trackpad, joystick etc..)

Here is a post I made which includes installation instructions:

Thank you so much for all the info, taking all that apart scares me so will have to try and find someone reputable to do it for me

  2. Thank you all, just came across this video which did some good controlled tests, whats interesting is the results at the 6:10 mark:

In a nutshell, under 10 degrees the all weather tyres perform better in the rain, looking at London weather averages, that would be 4 months out of the year (Nov to Feb) the all weather tyres should outperform, rest of the year they are still not too bad but do lag behind summer tyres a bit.

Trying to decide what to do now, if I go for all season i'd have to replace all 4 tyres, my rears still have 5 to 6mm left I think so that feels like a bit of a waste, would welcome thoughts from the members here 🙂

    Hi Feanor,

I just opened mine up this weekend gone to sort out the screen flickering issue - which I did.

I noticed on my system the DIP switch is set to 1234 (on) and the rest off, even though the manual suggests it should just be number 5 on.

If I followed the manufacturer instructions and just set switch 5 to on, none of the controls would work (premium nav with joystick).

To their credit, the manufacturer is very easy to get hold of on WhatsApp. I got the unit from AliExpress.

Where did you get your unit - might be worth reaching out for support?

EDIT: ignore the above, I saw you got it working!

I am after a unit too, any chance you can PM me (or post here) what seller you purchased from? trying to use someone who fellow members here have used before 🙂

  4. Hi everyone

I purchased my car around 3.5 years ago and its got Bridgestone Turanza all round, I only do around 4k miles per year now, both front tyres have around 4mm left but I've noticed some cracking as attached.

    image.thumb.jpeg.8b7e99518901367cf1a7e3ef6c48f438.jpegimage.thumb.jpeg.55a5e2f5a4c5dc05a9f8654dfa9c0c78.jpeg

I cant see any DOT codes on these (heard they may be behind the tyre where I cannot see it) so not sure how old these are, at least 4 years old I'd imagine as i've not changed it since my car ownership, would you guys replace these tyres based on this? Costco have the  MICHELIN e.PRIMACY ones available for my car for the fronts so thinking would just go for that (not been overly pleased with my Bridgestones), open to any feedback about my tyre choice too 🙂

    Thanks!

  5. Thank you both for your replies, I'll have a look and go for one of these systems, the one I originally looked at the back/forward skip buttons on the steering wheel for the music do not work but think thats not an issue for the above 2 so thats good, if anyone has any youtube links handy on installation then please post them, I'll also do a search when my system arrives as I think i've seen it before on this forum somewhere 🙂

  6. Hi Everyone

I've seen various options available for retrofitted Android Auto / apple Carplay into the IS300H and had a couple of questions, I've got a late 2013 IS300H premier with reversing camera and Mark Levinson sound system.

    1) Is there a system which most owners here have gone for which they'd recommend? Some even seem to have bigger screens then the OEM one which would be handy.

    2) Does changing the system affect the sound quality at all and do the steering wheel buttons and reversing camera etc still work? I definitely am not confident in doing this so I would probably call the Lexus or Toyota dealer and ask them for a price, appreciate people are saying its quite easy but i'm too nervous to tackle this myself.

Advice would be appreciated as I love my car and this would definitely freshen it up a bit for me 🙂

Just wanted to say that I recently installed the Carlinkitlife Wireless CarPlay (and Android Auto) Kit £250 and absolutely love it. Works perfectly (once you get it set up) in my 2015. Install is 100% plug and play. No cutting wires or modifications needed to existing harness. That 0 complaint from me doesn't lag, doesn't crash, retain steering wheel controls, easy to switch between AAuto and Carplay, factory unit look. 100/100 would highly recommend."

Thank you for the link, do you know if it will work with a late 2013 with the mark levinson sound system? Theres no way I would be able to do this myself so think I'd have to find a specialist.

  8. Hi all

My late 2013 IS300H has the blinking TPMS warning light so sounds like I need to replace one of them (no idea which one!), has anyone had this done and can recommend anywhere?

I was thinking either buy the sensor from Toyota or Lexus and get someone like F1 to fit or just go to a tyre place and get them to supply and fit, I normally only use genuine Lexus parts but for a TPMS sensor maybe OEM will also suffice i'm thinking..

Or if we know who manfactureres the Lexus TPMS sensor I can try and see if its cheaper for that brand, trying to avoid paying £85 just for the part if the £40 is also good quality.

    Advice appreciated 🙂

Unfortunately for me, yes I can hear😄

I have already hdd plugged. All songs converted to wma lossless (ml can read lossless wma files).

I need phone for tidal master streaming.

I found when streaming music via Bluetooth car only accept sbc codec (which is the poorest quality). In my lg I have few codecs incl Ldac and aptx hd.

Where I can find bluetooth specs in our 300h?

    Thanks

I've got a 2013 is300h premier which has good speakers, I've got the same issue, can't see a way to use usb with Spotify, only Bluetooth works, please update everyone if someone finds a way 🙂

Ok so after 4 weeks of being at the garage the car is back now and working again! Just going to post what happened so it helps other people in the future.

So after I sent the car to the garage, they were looking at changing the start button on the dashboard. Turns out this didn't fix it as the 12v battery was dead the next day. Then they started pulling fuses to see if it helped. Pulling the ECU 2 (the body control ECU) fuse turned seemed to do the trick and the radio/ac/lights went off. Plugging it back in brought the issue back.

So they phoned me and told me that and quoted me £1050 for that ECU alone :(. They then left the car overnight with the fuse off but this still killed that 12v battery again, and they were sure that it was something else(even after replacing the ecu with a new part so they put the old one back)

After a few weeks of head-scratching and basically getting nowhere, the car decided to drop a hint of where the issue was by activating the headlight washer and emptying about 3 litres of washer fluid all over the shop floor. This was a bit suspicious so they looked closely at the headlight washer and pump assembly and PRESTO!!! The Ecu controlling the headlight washers(different to the windscreen washer ECU) had basically had a short circuit, and made the washer pump run 24/7, which also burnt out the motor in the pump when it ran dry. Was quoted £700 just for those two parts to fix it(and it was very fishy that they had the parts in shop already) so I just said **** it and they unplugged that whole assembly and the car has been fine since I got it a few days ago. I think I will wipe the headlights clean myself rather than pay £700 for the stupid headlights to get a stupid spray on them.

All in all it was about £500 plus vat for the diagnosis including a new battery as the 'old' battery had died being discharged about 10 times during the last 4 weeks. Basically the issue was with the headlight washer ecu and assembly, and im grateful to them for finding it cuz I would not have in a million years thought it would be something so simple yet so frustrating to find.

Anyways, I hope it helps someone out there who comes across this issue in the future, start pulling out fuses and if it is the body control ecu 2 start looking at what is connected to that ecu, especially the headlight washers as Lexus having the parts on their shelf already means its probably a more common issue with these basically bullet proof cars.

Going forward, I think its time for me to sell this car as much as I've loved it. Its appreciated in value quite substantially since I got it and with a baby on the way, I cannot justify spending at least £500 every time ive had an issue with it(like 5 times already). will settle for a cheap Honda until I can come back to Lexus and own my dream car, the LC 500.
Thank you all for your help in trying to find this issue for me and I hope it proves useful to someone in the future 🙂

    All the Best,

    Josh

Many thanks Josh for the update, I had a Honda accord which was very reliable so I'm sure you'll be happy with one 🙂

Yea the car doesn't seem to have been tampered with at all, which was my initial thoughts as well. I'm also inclined to believe its a power module or relay somewhere but that's out of my depth I think (my brain switched off when I read there are two ECU's and two fuse boxes lol).
With regards to the battery voltage when the car is running it moves a bit between 14.62 and 14.59 but that seems mostly normal.

The car has been at the mechanics since Monday, ive never seen a more bewildered look on the tech's face as I described the issue to him. Definitely not an everyday or common issue I think. He suggested there could be an problem with the physical start/stop button and would take a look at that.

I haven't received any phone calls since I dropped it off and I cant help but feel like its gonna be very expensive to diagnose and fix. Ill keep you updated anyways on the outcome.

Fingers crossed for you, will be interested to know the outcome 🙂

I was lucky enough to pick up a used one for £220 because it had some damage on the front. I swapped the front panel with my one. Pretty simple just a few clips and disconnect a ribbon cable from a zif connector.

Fitting the head unit was really easy, just the reverse of the removal instructions video earlier in this thread.

I have contacted Lexus to ask if they would like to perform a fault investigation into the original unit for other customers. I await their response.

Please update the thread when you hear back, would be interested to hear their approach 😃

As expected it is the head unit itself that failed. I bought a second hand unit and fitted it without any issues, even the reversing camera didn't need calibrating.

The bad news is that my unit is the newer style (still Pioneer) with the different shaped knobs and a slightly different lower section.

Interestingly most of the functions on the unit including the car information menus can't be accessed without the SD card fitted.

The battery draining issues appears to have gone away since the head unit blew up!!!! Suggesting that it is something in the internal power supply that is causing the permanent drain and failing completely once the battery is removed.

Glad I didn't spend the £2000 on a new amp that Lexus recommended (no return if it didn't fix the problem).

    Good news that its sorted!

How much was the unit, did you fit yourself?

I think you should ask for a refund for the Lexus diagnostics at the very least, they could have cost you a lot of money and charged you for the privilege.

I just got the same warning for(I think) the first time in about 4 years on a 64 plate is300.   Stop, start, all good no warning again...   Will keep an eye.   Apparently it's BSM=Blind Spot Warning system.   So, even if it does recur, it's not a STOP, DON'T DRIVE type warning.   Which is nice.   But hopefully all's well with you too.

If it helps mine was resolved by Lexus replacing the 12v Battery so that was the cause, was easy for them to test the Battery too so might be worth doing?
