  1. Thanks all I've just changed the battery to the original Lexus one. However, my boot (open/close) button on both the boot lid or key won’t work. Any ideas?
  2. Thanks again. I suspect that I'll give Lexus parts tomorrow. How long would you reasonably expect the battery to last? The one year experience doesn't seem great.
  3. Many thanks Colin I'll have a look at this. It does seem a bit steep in price. Are the other options alluded to either too big or somewhat fiddly to fit? I'm looking for a straightforward solution that isn't too costly
  4. sorry, meant that I've jump started the car from the battery points under the bonnet next to the fuses...but am looking to replace the panasonic d23 battery in the boot
  5. Sorry for hijacking this thread… I have a 2014 rx450 and have had to jump start a couple of times the battery under the bonnet presumably due to the cold weather. I’m trying to work out which battery I need to buy. I recall seeing that the battery was a smaller size and was around £200+ when reading about it on the forum last year. However, I can’t find this information now. also, is there a need to connnect to another supply whilst replacing the battery? many thanks
  6. Thanks, Am out of the Lexus dealer network this year so will see who else could do it locally. Will have a look at local hybrid specialists, that would be my thought. Am also thinking about getting waxoyl treatment for the underside around the same time for winter. Anyone else had this done?
  7. Dear all, Grateful for your help... I have an RX450 and have just had the following flag up on the MOT as a minor defect. The tester said that it was the high voltage cable from the hybrid battery running but that they would not touch it. Any thoughts on solutions or who could look at it. I am in Leeds. Many thanks David Electrical wiring insulation slightly damaged or deteriorated High voltage (4.11 (c) (i))
  8. Thanks again Steve all sorted now. Managed to fix the new part and all working as normal
  9. Thanks again. yes, it was a little fiddly but have managed to get the whole mechanism out. I’ve had a play around with it and can’t manipulate it to work and suspect will damage it if I try and prise open the unit itself. lexus want £178+ vat for a new mechanism and it will have to be shipped from Japan taking 2 months! Have managed to find a used one so fingers crossed….. yes, it was my MOT where it was picked up….
  10. Managed to take out the seatbelt mechanism thanks to your help Steve… it appears completely jammed and suspect I will have to buy a new mechanism from Lexus
  11. Thanks Steve that looks really quite complicated? How do I go about removing the seat base and upright? Have managed to pry open the rear shelf but don’t have enough room to manipulate the belt mechanism. I wonder if I need to resort to a garage? Lexus or a standard garage? Can imagine the cost building quickly….
  12. Hello Grateful for your help… The rear middle seatbelt mechanism appears to be jammed and I can’t extend the seat belt from the reel. Is there a way to free the mechanism. I’m not sure how to access the mechanism, from the rear parcel shelf or some other way? I can’t find anything online or any video demonstrating this. many thanks David
  13. Hi, grateful for your help. I’ve got a 2014 RX450h and the interior ceiling light in the rear of the cabin has stopped working. what bulb do I need to replace it? Tried searching online but can’t find anything definitive. Is it a 194 LED? Do I need CANBUS or not? many thanks David
  14. Thanks Is it worthwhile purchasing the equipment and trying to understand and use myself or going down to the local garage/auto electrician for?
  15. Hi all, Grateful for your thoughts. The driver's side temperature control on the driver's side of my 64plate RX450h (controlled both by the physical buttons and the trackpad display) has suddenly stopped working. The passenger's side continues to function normally. The climate control is stuck on dual zone. Does anyone know if this is a fuse issue? if so, is it easy to replace? Have had a quick search but couldn't find anything online Many thanks David
  16. Many thanks all, Apologies, wasn't suggesting that people were not being helpful at all. Have really found the forum very informative. Have done some "testing" at home. ie one person sit inside the boot and another hosepipe down areas of the car....no clear conclusive location for how water is getting in....i can see water dripping at this time but not sure if it's the lag of the water trickling through the trim etc.... possible area. 1. at the top of the boot behind the roof gutter trim there appears to be a plastic seal.... ultimately, i wonder it's a matter of stripping down the trim and working systematically through ...? not sure if any other suggestions....
  17. Hello all, any thoughts on the above would be gratefully received... thanks
  18. Hi all, have attached some photos of where the leak is showing from and where I wonder it might be coming from pic 1, 3 and 4 are possible entry points I think for the water ingress....3.1 is a zoomed in version of 3. which shows the roof trim where the roof bars would be? pic 2 is where i have seen the water coming from in the boot before dripping onto the boot floor. any thoughts on how best to approach this? has anyone else seen anything like this before? thanks David
  19. Hi all, I have a 2014 RX450h advance which has been great in the 2 years I have had it. However, in recent weeks have noticed a water leak into the boot. The water appears to be dripping from the trim around the right sided boot light. I am not sure where it originates from. I can’t see any obvious entry from the boot lid and wonder whether it’s from the roof bars or seal at the rear of this... I couldn’t find anything on the forum re this model but have seen that it can be an issue for the RX400.... grateful for your thoughts.... David
