  1. My old jump starter pack has given up the ghost so looking to purchase a new one (don't worry, I didn't drain the battery on the car again lol). Is there anything to consider with the IS300h when purchasing a jump starter pack? A lot of the packs have engine size limits but as our cars have tiny Aux batteries, could I get away with a starter pack designed for a 2 litre max? Do I need to get one designed for hybrid type cars? TIA
  2. New owner to the IS300h (pre-owned) for about three weeks now. With all the good weather I decided to do an interior detail myself. To make a long story short, I ended up draining the battery and had to call assistance out (forgot my starter pack at work). These aux batteries definitely do drain quickly. To be fair though, I still haven't gotten use to the car and probably had it in the wrong mode with the doors open or something. The AA guy certainly had a laugh. Says it happens all the time and that Lexus call outs are usually the quickest and least involved. In the future, is there anything I should do to prevent this happening again when detailing the interior?
  3. Yeah, I was thinking of getting a small 8" active sub. Something that wouldn't overpower everything else.
  4. Will use a high level active sub that can use a feed from the existing speaker wire. Gonna do some more research and see what I can come up with.
  5. When you used it on the drain tube and you say it spewed out, do you mean after you finished spraying it in or while you where spraying it in? I take it the spewing only came out of the drain tube? For vent use, did any of the liquid spill out into the cabin area? That was the one thing I was concerned about and was happier to find out that I could just spray it into the condenser via the drain tube.
  6. So what about 2017 onwards? I'm trying to figure out if a simple active sub will make much of a difference rather than adding extra speakers to the rear.
  7. Are the front and rear door speakers the same for the factory 8 speaker setup as they are for the 6?
  8. Inazone, did you use two amps for your setup or one? I really don't fancy cutting the rear deck, do you think changing the rear door speakers is any easier? As you said you had to tap into the rear door speaker wire, I take it there is no wiring running to the boot or rear deck on our cars?
  9. So a multi channel to the rear door speakers and sub in the boot would suffice right? Do they make multi channel high level amps? I never used a high level amp before.
  10. Linas you are a star! Thanks for those pics. Yes, I know I will need an amp for the door speakers but will need one regardless if I add coaxials to the rear deck wont I? How is the Mark Levison system powered, by one multi channel amp in the boot?
  11. Right, I probably should have gotten the dealer to do this when I purchased it but it slipped my mind and I didn't really notice any smells at the time. Since taking it home I noticed a slight "off" smell every now and then. I attribute it to the fact the car was sitting on the Lexus lot since Sept and got a little stuffy. It's not a bad smell per say and it is very slight. When mixed in with the smell of the leather it reminds me of the smell of Crayola Crayons. The smell has been dissipating since driving it but I bought a can of Toyota Air Conditioning System cleaner. I thought it was cleaner one you sprayed in the vents, however, it's used by spraying into the condenser I believe. Has anyone used this air con cleaner before and if so, where do I find the condenser drip tube to plug in to? I will also be changing the cabin air filter in the glove box.
  12. Thanks for that Linas. In the Mark Levison diagram there are two small tweeters fitted to the rear doors. Will the door cards for the Mark Levison fitted cars be different to standard models? Not sure why Lexus didn't fit coaxial speakers to the rear doors in the standard models or just replicate what they did in the front. The front ones aren't fantastic but they are miles better than the rear. If I do an upgrade and tap into the existing wiring, I may upgrade the rear door speakers anyway. I rather do that than cut the rear deck.
  13. I've only had my IS300h for almost three weeks now but have done about 800 miles in it so far. CC is a lot less polished than I expected from this car and unless you are on flat clear roads I can't see any mpg gains from it. Some one with a well trained foot can easily do better for smoothness and mpg. I only use it early mornings when the motorway is clear. I'm getting 52.8 mpg average (based or car's computer) and I spend most time in Standard mode. I do a mixture of motorway, A roads and B roads. Mostly 30 to 40 mile journeys to work. I don't drive during rush hours so roads are mostly clear for my journeys. I find that ECO mode is an absolute waste if driving normally and I would only use it in traffic jam scenarios. Standard is alright but still quiet a bit of lag at the bottom end. Sport mode is how the car should drive in my opinion and I don't think there will be much loss in MPG when compared to Standard... unless you are always giving it the beans. I will continue my driving style until I have to fill up again then try the next 1K miles in Sport mode.
  14. So are there spaces for coaxial speakers and the sub on the rear deck? I thought it was just one space for the sub?
