    Thanks McShmoopy

It seems my late 2009 Lexus IS250c unfortunately has a Type A unit. White screen display. Also unfortunately I didn't buy from Teyes! I bought from Ali Express and the seller has been very unhelpful. They confirmed that their head unit would fit and work on my model. I only sent the front photo. Since then they have been painfully unhelpful and reticent to reply. After looking a the Teyes fitting instructions I have gone ahead with fitting it and it is very similar to the Teyes screen. it is a 10" screen.

I have been following their very helpful harness fitting instructions and have got most of the connecting done. I have fixed the screen and amp to the frame but unfortunately the final connectors in my kit are the wrong shape and size so I can't connect the android screen to the amp. Unlike the Teyes photos, my version doesn't have a seperate Sat Nav. It is post HDD and needed a dealer map update at 300 quid plus. The Satnav must be included in the amp, I guess. I have connected it up as described by Teyes anyway.

I hope the correct connectors will bring my screen and android unit to life. So far sound and radio from the DVD box but no screen activity of functions. Do you know where I can purchase the correct loom or adapters for this unit.

Also i've read that as it's a IS250c  the amp won't fit in the head unit space and needs to be fitted elsewhere. Is that correct?

    Thanks

Unfortunately they will have sent you a type B so it wont work, even in my normal IS the space is tight so you’ll likely have to  trim some the redundant back plastic that is used non navi models. Im planning on doing the same and running a new camera as I’ve upgraded my xtrons to a teyes and transplanted my xtrons to a slightly older IS.

The only consideration with the IS250C for you is running the camera cable as it is a nightmare compared to regular IS’s although fellow member Ahmed had some recent success.

Photos of my recent teyes install, still in progress and will need to trim the back.

  2. I've got some experience in the android head unit area for these IS250's the key thing is to understand whether your car is a pre facelift or facelift model, easiest tell is if you have a white type of infotainment or the all black. Usually if your car is a facelift 2009 you'll have the new style white infotainment but thats not always the case as one of my vehicles is a 2009 facelift car with an old black style infotainment.

The best ones to get on the market are the Teyes CC3 as they provide full functionality of your original OEM radio and preserve the original sound quality of your Mark Levinson or standard sound system. I have used other head units such as XTRONS and the GROM V Line but the Teyes is the best in terms of quality and reliability. You would purchase a specific model depending on your type of infotainment or the seller would provide you harnesses to support both pre facelift and facelift, however your mileage may vary.

I fitted a Teyes CC3 to a IS250C aso if you need any support feel free to reach out otherwise Ahmed on the LOC forums has recently fitted one of these and he's the go to for Lexus mods in this community.

Hello members. I have a question about headunit. Can you retain the ml. Or stock audio settings. I like being able to use the ml dsp for driver etc on the ml. Is there an app I can still do this not to mess the ml system up.

Yes the Teyes CC3 retains the original DSP for the mark Levinson system, there is an additional DSP that can be used to customise the audio further but if left alone it remains like stock. You are advised before making the swap to the TEYES to set your EQ and audio levels on the OEM system however you usually can access the OEM DSP settings via an app on most android units

  4. The only time aftermarket stuff can throw up an error code is if you upgrade the tail lights with something like a HC motion set of tail lights, usually these require a resistor or something installed alongside it as the pre facelift out of the box cant support upgraded LED tail lights.

The VLAND headlights dont suffer from this kind of issue so it's either an incorrect fuse has been pulled or a set of fuse has blown responsible for the three errors you're getting. I do recall getting quite a few dashboard errors when I installed my VLANDS but thats because I pulled the wrong fuse out, once I used the correct ones no errors or dashboard issues

are your deelife sensors compatible with the stock system or do you have to deal with the dash lights being on due to not having compatible TPMS sensors? Do you have a link to the ones you use?

As far as Im aware UK IS250s dont normally support the factory TPMS system, only the IS250C supported the TPMS system so assuming the car is a UK non convertible and hasnt been modified nothing will appear on the dash.

These TPMS systems will only work on the android head unit only; so whichever one you get will work as long as the corresponding app is used, if you buy a non teyes TPMS system youll just install the relevant APK to view the TPMS system

    I have a 2022 NX350h with the 14 inch multimedia system.

Is there a way to make Bass, treble and mid-range adjustments and to adjust level of sound from rear to front or left to right speakers.

Any advise would be much appreciated.

Don't have a 2022 NX350h but all the Lexus infotainments have had similar adjustment options, if you go to Sound or DSP type of menu you can adjust the Bass Midrange and Treble as well as changing the sound levels from the speakers as well as enable auto sound leveller (compression) as well as surround sound if you have a Mark Levinson system

    Hey Guys,
My 2006 IS 350 with Nav / Built in heater controls / ML amp had the amp go out last week. I emailed T’Eyes a few images of the back of my radio for them to confirm which model I need. Still waiting for a reply. I want to bypass the ML amp all together, since it’s fried, but can’t tell from the images if there are RCA outputs for a 4 channel amp and a 2 channel sub amp. I see an optical and 1 coaxial but I want to run 2 separate amps.

Let me know what you think.
    thank you,

     John

From what I can tell mate the Teyes wouldn't bypass the factory amp but tap into it, this is because whenever we access the new head units we have a factory amp settings type app to adjust the OEM settings, so if youre looking to get any Lexus android head unit youll likely need the factory amp, these can be gotten fairly easy from breakers however

Does this differ in any significant way — most importantly in the attachment points and the foglight mountings? It's certainly a possibility, though my insurer might consider this a modification, and prefer the car to be standard.

Itll generally remain the same except if you have a facelift 2011 onwards car where they change to the modern circular foglight, only thing ive pinched is a rubber right angle for the headlight washer so I could block mine off / delete it but I'm sure the part could be found relatively easy on eBay, aside from that fully stock and it shouldn't be classed as a mod unless the colour is different haha

Hi Bilal. Instead of re-greasing the slider pins just get brand new ones. Also wrap some sandpaper around a screwdriver shaft, grit around 240, to clean the holes where the sliders go.

I had a quick look yesterday for aftermarket opposed calipers for the is250. Nothing came up but except from America and costing £3.5k but one British firm makes them from billets and at about £240 but they're not is250 specific. Perhaps look online and enquire to firms you find.

HEL Performance was the firm I found. Look them up. Who knows you may strike lucky or they'd make them special if you mentioned there would be hundreds of fellow is250 owners would want them too.

Thanks for the suggestion Vlad, I took your suggestion and ended up getting new slide pins, funnily enough they give you the bind bolt also but its a little odd seeing as you cant ordinarily get it out.

    IMG_4935.thumb.jpeg.aeb003ddeffc88ab676199195a9bc3eb.jpegIMG_4934.thumb.jpeg.04f487987f4e1da5cb4c756271fab2ff.jpegIMG_4933.thumb.jpeg.7732e793cbf5f0bc82b5a6fa1b45ac61.jpegIMG_4932.thumb.jpeg.6847a9331762000cf4514a7e8743f7ff.jpeg

I neglected to realise that the new rubber seals have to go over the slide bolt calliper lips and if they dont youll just end up seizing the calliper as it cant physically go all the way.

This video from Bing a known Lexus 2IS enthusiast / model has an excellent video detailing how to remove and replace the slide pins and gaskets which isnt always obvious so I'd highly recommend it.

A handy temperature gun after a brisk drive around showed both left and right rear brake discs were only heating up to 49oC compared to when the calliper was seized was 130oC! I considered changing out the left also but if it isnt broke dont fix it haha, I still may consider the GS front brake upgrade if I can score them at a decent price but I'll use these spare discs and pads for my mums IS250 worst case.

Yes on the front. The calliper is a 4 pot design, with 2 on each side which is unlike your single piston sliding calliper design that requires sliding pins that seize up. But the rears are all the sliding calliper design so will suffer the same issue if you don't do regular maintenance on them.

23 minutes ago, J Henderson said:

Sure, the fronts are definitely an upgrade.

4 piston monobloc AVICS calipers & 334mm discs vs single piston caliper/carrier setup (slide pins) & 296mm disc.

But the rear brakes are the same on IS250/IS350/GS300 - 310mm vented.

You mentioned sourcing GS calipers for the rear, hence why I said you already have those.

"GS brakes" on the rear would only be an upgrade on an early car with solid discs.

    Edit: beaten by Colin 🙂

Ah that makes a whole lot of sense to be fair, cheers for clarifying guys, is the majority of braking done by the front brakes or the rear for rear wheel drive cars then? I do have new discs and pads for my front brakes that I haven't got around to doing yet so wondering if its even worth the upgrade for the front...

  11. 30 minutes ago, J Henderson said:

The rear brakes on a GS are exactly the same as what you already have on a 2010 IS250, so that wouldn't be an upgrade.

As for needing new discs and pads. You might get away with cleaning the disc up, but new pads will probably be needed. Usually, when a caliper has been sticking, one of the pads gets heavily worn down compared to the other.

Interesting I read up that plenty the MK3 GS’s had the same brakes that the IS350 is rocking and is a significant upgrade?

  12. HI Guys

Just noticed today that my rear driver side calliper was kicking out alot of heat and a smell so the calliper has likely seized up again. Usually I tend to grease these yearly but I figured bad weather has sped this up although the rear driver side calliper has always been more problematic. I noticed a few old threads on here mentioning how alot of guys upgrade to the GS brake callipers and its a noticeable improvement not only brake wise but it also prevents alot of excessive brake pad wear and maintenance.

I was wondering if I sourced GS MK3 brake callipers for the rear is it worth doing the front at the same time, and will I need a whole set of new pads and discs when I swap them over?

Just to put my 5p here... I have no seen aftermarket units that would support cars with factory bluetooth music etc. (White interface) so if your 2010 has that, it won't work.

To be fair mate mine was the factory white interface and head units do support it, you usually need a completely different harness of wiring for that to work however. The teyees CC3 from my mums old car and my current XTRONS are the facelift version so they can support it, for the longest time there was little to no support up until recently however

  14. Theres alot more options out there actually, a good example is the Teyes CC3 that will fully integrate and retain your OEM controls, the only exception is your reverse camera which would either need to be spliced or replaced as Im guessing you have a facelift IS250 like myself, the pre facelifts can retain the OEM reverse camera but I've struggled to get it to work when fitting the head unit for others.

There are other examples like an Xtrons which I own personally and a GROM VLINE2 however in my experience for facelift vehicles the GROM is too buggy so I'd go with the Teyes if you can.

You'll need to pick Option A as that has the new facelift infotainment (white screen for climate controls)

They do. I have them (CrossClimate 2).

Though on the rear you need to go with 245/40R18 instead of 255 as they're unavailable in that size.

I used to run full winter tyres (Pirelli Sottozero 3), and was happy with them but when the time came to replace them, I figured they were overkill for the amount of snow that falls where I live, so went with the Michelins which are "only" all-seasons.

In my experience though they are just as good in snowy conditions as a full winter tyre. With the added bonus that they are equally comfortable in warm weather, so you can leave them on all year-round.

    1 hour ago, LIJO151 said:

Michelin CrossClimate, but I don't know if they do the tyre size for 18.

Cheers for the input guys, funnily enough I already run 245 on the rear and 225 on the front, all seasons arent a bad shout incase I wanted to sell my spare F Sport alloys however I figured if I have them spare having a dedicated winter set wouldnt be the worst idea.

I never entertained the thought as our winters in the midlands are very mild but between climate change and the erratic weather patterns we've just had it wouldnt necessarily be the worst idea haha.
