I've found that it doesn't seem to make any difference after the nine years....

It did with Saga a few years ago, I had 20 plus years, but I changed & stayed with the same company for a couple of years who only gave 15 years.

I left & went to Saga, but they would only accept the 15 years I had with the current insurer even though I told them I had over 20 years before that, they added about another £30 because I couldn't prove the 20 years I originally had, so I have had to build it up again & don't want to lose it again now.

I was with Tesco the year before and when it renewed last April it went up 37%, but as it was still within a few pounds of the cheapest quote when I ran an online comparison I stayed with them. Hoping that given last years large increase, this year may be more palatable... but not holding my breath!!!

The only issue with Tesco ins is they only give 9 years NCB & I had 20 years when I joined from the AA last year.

I have had to phone them & they are sending out a letter with 21 years NCB proof.

  3. Well I just had my Tesco insurance renewal through, £260 last year, £610 this year. 😬

20years NCB protected, Retired so no commuting, 4,000 miles a year.

Just been on comparison site & can get it for £314 with all of above, but £100 excess compared to £250 with renewal.

So goodbye Tesco, hello Aviva, unless I can manage to get a better deal somewhere else.

I don't know, I'm not sure when and what the FL changes were.  There are three to choose from though, two 2018 plates (an 18 and a 68) and a 69 plate. All are between 25 and 30k miles. One is marked Select, but doesn't appear in the used approved list when you filter nationally. I can't check the spec of the 69 plate online as they've taken it off sale until I view it later today. The first one I saw and drove appeals because I know it's Advance, plus it's just had an MoT and service, I don't think the 69 plate has been serviced in the last 6 months, but it does have 4 new Falkens fitted to it. Sometimes there can be too much choice

I think the F/L came out in 2017.

I would always go with the newest model if possible, unless there are things you can't live without.

    I thought I'd replied earlier, seems I haven't.

Confusingly the Advance spec shows reversing camera and cooled leather electric seats. The first car had both.

Second car has manual tahara seats so cannot be Advance spec, yet it has the reversing camera, which is only fitted to Advance and Premier, and is not available as an option on any other model.

I did smile at the avalanche of typically Japanese acronyms for everything, but self healing paint is a new one on me. Back in the 2000s I worked for supplier of external painted trim parts to Toyota and pretty sure there wasn't anything specifically magical about the paint specs.

Anyway, looking forward to tomorrow's edition of the automotive equivalent of meet the ancestors as I try to establish some more of the history of these two vehicles.

Are you sure the car you are looking at isn't an face lift IS300h comfort pack model?

Mine is a 2020 70 plate comfort model & it has Tahara heated seats, reversing camera, rain sensing wipers, keyless entry & auto dimming mirror.

  6. I have just looked at my service plan, taken out last year for another 3 years after my initial 2 year plan run out.

The cost for 2 full services & one intermediate service is £1465/ £35.80 a month which should be the same for your RC. There is no discount, but it stays at that price even if the cost of servicing goes up.

  7. Well I have just returned from having my IS300h serviced & MOT'd at Canterbury Lexus, 3 years service, but only 9,300 miles.

Very impressed with service, dropped car off at 09.00 given a coffee straight away & then they provided a driver to take my wife & I into the city for some shopping & lunch.

They phoned me about 11.30 to tell me it was all completed & to let them know when I wanted collecting, I said as the sun had come out we would walk the mile or so back & when we returned the car was ready, washed & vacuumed.

I will definitely be returning to Canterbury Lexus.

IAN is the manager of both Tunbridge wells and Gatwick. He's not great as he's never around, overall all the dealers in the south of England are hit-and-miss, especially miss when it cones to any warranty work that needs to undertaken.

Unless of course you have an executive job and if that's the case the service is perfect as the dealers like to stay out of court

That is not good to hear.

    Hopefully Canterbury will be ok.

The one I used last year also closed, so you may be talking about Maidstone?
I went to Lexus Canterbury to have my Dashcam fitted and the experience was very good, so I may try them for annual service. Heard good reviews of Lexus Sidcup too.

Yes Maidstone is the one I have been using.

I have a service & my first MOT booked in at Canterbury on Friday, so I will see how I get on.

I originally thought I would try Tunbridge Wells, but they never returned any of my calls or emails, so I changed it to Canterbury.

    Hey folks,

I've been thinking about this for a while and given that Lexus no longer offer the IS in the UK.

I've been asking myself what car would i go for next?

It has crossed my mind about importing new IS from Japan but it's a very unlikely scenario despite how much i love the IS series.
Next option would be an ES... but its still a little ugly and pricey even in the used market.

I think the next logical step would be the RX.....

Or do i walk away from Lexus for good...

I've never been the type to simply go for the latest edition of the same car and im sure the wife would say "we need a bigger car"

I still have a few more years of the IS by which point the kids will have outgrown it space wise...

But i do wonder.. and im sure im not the only one that wonders 🙂

I have wondered this for a while myself.

I love my IS & it does everything I need it to do & would definitely looked at a newer IS.

Unfortunately I think the ES is too big & I am not too keen on SUV's myself so would probably have to look further afield to find what I wanted.

I have discussed this with my wife & we both have agreed now that as the IS has only covered 9,000 miles in its 3 year life we are going to stick with it for probably another 3 years.

  11. This has been an interesting topic to follow.

I don't necessarily agree with all the comments made by Linas, but he is entitled to his opinion & some of what he is saying is true.

Some of his comments though you do have to take with a pinch of salt, but it does make for interesting reading none the less.

I love my Is300h & I know Linas has a dislike for them, but I am the one who owns it & that is all that matters to me.

As for the ES, I have only sat in one at the dealers so cannot really comment about how good or bad they are, all I know is that I wouldn't buy one because of their size.
