  1. Yhay sucess new Battery fitted two weeks ago this weekend I left the car off and alone for two days straight and the car started up first time with no issues so yes it did infact need a new 12 volt Battery only after two and a half years re the Lexus Panasonic 450amp Battery. So the 350amps the old one that was giving off without load wasn’t enough to start the car I guess.

Seems a very short natural life for the battery, just 3 years 🤔

Indeed. I blaze my music almost at maximum everyday hence why on my previous German cars I always intentionally bought the 600-700+ Amp battery’s knowing this can cause a drain on the Battery. When I bought the Battery Lexus did say to me it would last three years as well which I didn’t believe them at the time lol.

    Hi thank for replay.

I’ll order a new Battery this week and pray the issue disappears and goes away as this is the first time happening since I’ve owned the car and putting in a new (the Lexus Panasonic) in January 2021. FYI I have the mark Lev sound system so majority of the time daily I do tend to play my music almost at full power as well for three years straight I can imagine that would have a negative effect on the Battery over time?

That YouTube video, complete with clicking relays, looks like classic symptoms of a low battery voltage. If you have a multimeter, check the voltage at the battery both with the car off and when you're trying to start it. Anything much below 12V and you'll have issues.

If you've managed to get it fully charged from an external source (mains charger like a CTEK etc) and you're still having difficulty, and the battery voltage won't stay above 12V for more than a couple of days, you've either got a parasitic drain on the battery, or the battery is kaput.

If it's the battery, Tayna now do one which looks an exact replacement for the MK4 GS450h

Is your car a mk3 or mk4? Sami's battery dimensions work for the Mk3 but I believe don't for the Mk4.

I'll say it again - I don't believe a Panasonic battery (which cost you what? Not far off £300) would only last 3 years - mine is Panasonic and is coming up to 10 years old.

Don't forget the heat sensor and the gas vent tubes.

grrrrr so if none of Halford’s fit I will have to buy Lexus one.

I also noticed maybe conjecture at a guess if I drive the car daily (I.e everyday)  it seems to start fine but twice I let it sit for two days without using it came back and was struggling to start up and took 5 minutes of turning on and off before with 1-2 breaks between before would start.

Just for the benefit of others that have not seen my recent posts this exactly what my cars doing re YouTube video and the YouTube guy said a Battery replacement fixed the issue. My current cars 450A capacity Battery currently giving me 350A capacity with car off (and no electric load on it?)

I hear you I’m trying to take the easiest route without paying for diagnosis and having my car off the road when I need it for work on Monday to Friday.

    Hi,

Just wanted to share my findings: I was looking for new 12V battery for my GS450h (2008), and these will fit directly the battery tray in the trunk:

    • Varta Blue Dynamic E23 570412063 70Ah 630A size (in mm): 261x175x220
    • BOSCH S4 026 70Ah 630A, size (in mm): 261x175x220
    • Yuasa YBX3030 12V 72Ah 630A SMF Battery, size (in mm): 260x174x225

The original battery is Lexus 28800-31281 Panasonic S65D26L 57Ah 450A, size (in mm): 260x173x202.

I ended up buying the Yuasa YBX3030. Installation was really easy: the only thing you need to do is to remove the temperature sensor from OEM battery and glue/tape it on top of the new battery.

Does the Battery lid fit flush re the Yuasa Battery you bought?

Thanks for information on the Battery dimensions I’m gonna try and see if one of Halfords batteries fits for my car gs 450h as Lexus fitted that Panasonic one and it appears it maybe low after three years in the car.

In the comments one suggestion of brake actuator. I believe both batteries in my car seem ok.

I found a YouTube video of exactly what my cars doing intermittently at moment what do you think?

The YouTube guy with the same problem as me said a Battery change fixed everything even though his original 12 volt Battery appeared fine (which mine appears fine as well) and my car friend has suggested that 350amps left on my Battery for my hybrid car seems low. So that settles it I’ll buy a new Battery
it’s been 3 years since I last changed it and Lexus did say to me it would last 2-3 years.

Possible you just ran the 12V down rather than anything wrong with it.

Because all the 12V has to do is start the computer and then open the relays to the main hybrid battery, if its basically flat it may
actually still manage to start the car.

Had this a few times on my last 12V battery when it was, well working but it had basically no capacity left after 15 years so was very
easy to run it flat if you left it on without the engine running for any period of time at all.

Ops looks like I spoke to soon it didn’t start first time again today but eventually started after 5 minutes I’ve definitely got a problem somewhere. Gonna have to get someone at some point to diagnose it and it’s annoying happened at the end of my annual leave.

I’m still using Lexus Sidcup as I haven’t found a top quality inpendent Toyota/lexus garage yet. I’m from Gravesend area sides.

have no idea when I’ll have the time for this annoyance.

the 12 volt appears ok and the hybrid Battery seems ok like it charging ok.

but I’ll lean eye on the hybrid Battery could be suspect maybe.

What utter nonsense. In the category of 'they'll tell you owt'.

My battery is coming up to 10 years old. A Yuasa battery (if that's what it is) should last for more than 6 years at least.

    Hopefully it's a one-time glitch.

    Hi

Hi good news went to start the car today it started first time no issues after letting it sit for a day. So maybe that other day not starting only after several attempts issue was just some kind of one off computer glitches that anyone that’s got a computer knows happens every now and again. 😅

  12. Hi should I be worried first time in four years my car wouldn’t start.

It only started after several attempts of me pressing the car on and off with the power button and brake pedal. Re the pictures does these words PARKING BRAKE INOPERABLE and CHECK AHB SYSTEM warning light was on when it wouldn’t start but they gone now the cars started and working.

I last fitted a new car Battery I think four years ago?
