  1. Hi Guys

Greeting to all my SC friends old and new. I have been missing for sometime because I have been through the mill with personal and health problems but fortunately I am now out the other side!

Does anyone know if there are plans afoot for an annual SC430 meet this year?

It is usually June and we need to be booking hotel rooms if its happening.

    Anthony 🙂

Replaced all the interior bulbs with LEDs except the footwells.  Has anyone replaced those?   They have a very small bulb that appears to be all part of the entire unit.  I cannot remove the bulb.

    Hi there

I got to exactly the samecposition as you but due to my poor contortionist skills I only managed to remove the lens but found myself unable to get the bulb out.

So, I was making a pick up at Sainsburys which rates high on my threat threshold for bad parking issues so I look for a space no one wants. I could tell I had found it ,because it looked like the opening scene from Raiders of the Lost Ark, all cobwebs and broken dinosaur eggshells.

It is really annoying how despite parking far away from the door of a supermarket, and there being many, many empty parking spaces, when you come out someone has felt the need to park next to it! 🤬

When I arrived at the meet near Coventry the following year, everything was in proper order. I was greeted by Tom, Race Director for the Lexiguy SC430 Touring Team, a proper enthusiast. 👍

You are too kind Neil, he is so happy to do his job as parking attendant in his SC430 baseball hat you gave him (he was truly stoked) and be part of such a friendly gathering.

Can't wait for June 24 to see such a massive collection of SC's and meet friends old and new!

  5. I fail to see any pattern in this weather, yesterday it was really windy with torrential rain all day. More of the same was forecast today but now its all changed. Beautiful hot sunshine so its top down and have a run over the Pennines and back. Every day like this I think it may be the last for this year.

    Enjoy my friends, enjoy!!

  6. Hi Steven

There have been very positive reports about the rear camera kit which Calvin at SC430MODS.COM supplies.

It appears to be an easy fit, not having to remove the head unit to fit it.

After much procrastinating, I am on the verge of buying one from him and from reports, I would not hesitate to fit it my self. Especially as I have removed the boot linings previously to do a wiring job.

I don't know exactly where you are but I am just over the Pennines from Lancashire and would be happy to assist if you feel that you need some practical and moral support.

    Regards, Anthony

Not exactly on point but I highly recommend Lexus Sheffield and Gary Hudson.  They have been looking after my LS430 and now Ls600hl. Got me out of trouble and saved me money.

I have had the same experience with Lexus Leeds and the service manager Jordan Robinson.

I called in last Friday to book in for a service. It is approaching 100k and it's 16 years old. It is booked for Wednesday 1st November.

The cost of a big service is £660 and I am told that includes a timing belt replacement!

    I recon that's good value!

    Hi Malc

I sure can but they were sets of 4.

You must 100% know the exact size as there are several different sizes!

  9. Hi Nick

Thanks for that, I was contemplating what the first step should be when tackling suspension improvement and I think your idea gets 1st prize!

How many miles has your car done and is it believed that the ones replaced were the originals?

(A pic would have been brilliant)

  10. Cleaning the exhaust tips on my car seems to be a constant job but I have a useful tip....use a 12 year old because they tend to stay much cleaner than sending them up chimneys!

  11. Hi Ken

The centre caps came plain chrome with their emblem to put on if required.

I measured it precisely and trawled the Internet, eventually finding the right size in Bulgaria.. of all places! They took weeks to arrive but they were excellent and finished them off well.

I see you managed to have the Lexus symbol fitted to the wheels. Was that an expensive option or offered with the wheels? They certainly look good, though I haven't yet fallen out of love with my originals. :wink3:

My standard Lexus wheels looked great from a distance, but when close they had big lumps of paint flaking from them. They were painted by the supplying garage when it was purchase two years ago and it appeared that the paint did not adhere to the primer coat.

To do them justice they needed doing properly, which was stripping and powder coating. Then the trims and centre caps which are plastic, painting too. What I found was how much this work has gone up in recent years....no change out of £500!

The purists will say wheels should be  standard to the model. Others say that wheels are subjective and as beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.

So decision was made that new alloys were the way to go because no waiting with the car off the road, no trips to tyre fitters or repeated journeys. If not bought on line, new alloys are instant, fitted while you wait!

There are so many choices. These include style, size, colour and not least price!

    So decision was made!

  13. Hi Darren

Welcome to the SC Owners Club forum!

I have found the cup holder, ashtray mechanism and the radio flap button to all be a bit suspect and rough and very regular use takes its toll.

I had a problem with my radio flap button which turned out to be incredibly expensive to purchase new from Lexus. Unable to buy a second hand switch I found a full console on eBay for a reasonable price.

It proved useful that I cured my button problem, at the annual meet in June my friend from Conway cured his ashtray which would not stay closed and you would be welcome to the cup holder mechanism if you get up these parts!

It is straightforward and easy to replace!

    Good luck, Anthony

  14. Hi Peter

It does sound like the window motor and regulator are working because if not, the glass would not go up or down when the power roof is activated.

    My thoughts are:

So with the information you have given all does point to a switch problem. Can you put your switch on your friends car to double check it in that way?

If not, it's door panel off and check the switch is getting power and if that power is getting to the window regulator motor.

    Good luck, Anthony

  15. I had problems with my radio cover not working, I found it was the button itself that had collapsed.

After spending much time with glue and duct tape I realised that despite my skills which were honed watching Blue Peter repair is not possible!

I found the cheapest way was to buy a complete wood insert that contained the switch from eBay.

Shame it was maple so I gently swapped the button, refitted and it then worked!!!
