  1. Hello,

I picked up my new 450h 2 weeks ago immediately noticed a rattle on rough A roads.  Went in on Monday and dealer fixed it as could not hear it on way home (A pillar drivers side). The next trip which was about 80 miles and the longest so far I noticed a new  sound coming from in front of me when at motorway speeds on rough roads (possibly dash or steering column), also now getting used to the car the steering wheel is slightly offset.

This is booked into the dealer again for a couple of weeks to investigate, slightly frustrating on a new car and wonder what else may start working loose.

Finally, appreciate the engine has only done a few miles but fuel consumption is currently in low 30s, has anyone else noticed this and have an idea of when this will start to improve ?

  2. I had an email from my dealer yesterday, according to their systems they are currently expecting my car in early October so that’s 4 months from placing the order.  So it does seem Lexus are now back up to speed on orders, but I do hope they are not building new orders at the expense of old.  I would have been quite happy to wait and financially would have been better the longer I had left it

I hope you are correct however....

There are people on here (myself included) who have waited 12 to 18 months for delivery so it does seem quite strange that delivery has now been reduced to 4 months.

I placed my order in early June and was told 6 months for delivery.  I took that with a pinch of salt and in no rush to change.  Will be I interesting when so orders placed this year start to b delivered.  The Lexus website is quoting 4 weeks for RX orders.  I may have imagined it but I thought the NX part of the website said that all the delivery slots for 2023 had been taken.  This is no longer there.

  4. In order to reduce everyone’s insurance premium and deter even the attempt of the theft this plate needs to be fitted to every car vulnerable to it.  If Lexus only fit to 50% then there is still a 50/50 chance for a criminal to make it worthwhile so they will still try.  It’s only when it becomes not worth their time that they will stop.

I now realise why LV would not insure my RX without a tracker 2 years ago when they were happy to insure my XC90 which was more expensive and a faster car

  5. Thanks all, sounds like I am not missing anything obvious.  Smaller less space etc I havent driven a new RX I know if I did I would be temped but I do want a smaller car and there is not much difference in speficication/luxury from the new NX to my current RX .  It is a shame manufacturers dont put the same effort into their smaller cars as they do their top of the range ones.

I now have the reply from Lexus and it is quite disappointing, although not entirely unexpected. It came via snail mail so I'm attaching a scanned redacted copy. Draw your own conclusions, but my interpretation is they are not going to do anything,lexus.pdflexus.pdf which is not what we should expect from a premium manufacturer whose USP is customer service. This is not over in my book but before I go back to them can anybody flesh out the exact details of the cabling the crims are accessing to steal the car. I'm guessing from descriptions so far that cabling to the interior of the car is run through the passenger wing behind the plastic lining and this is what they are getting at or am I wrong?

Thanks for this, it is a slightly longer version of the one I received by email but some paragraphs are identical.

I was going to ask if there would be any contribution to a secondary immobiliser.

The RAV 4 has a similar vulnerability, I am not sure if the new NX is the same

  7. Hi, looking at opinions of people who have moved from RX450h to NX450h as I am due to downsize (RX large, smaller family etc).   I test drive one at the weekend, drivewise car seems to be a little slower (Battery empty) not as smooth (no V6) and not quite as comfortable but not a massive amount in either of them.  I think the colour options are mostly meh whereas the RX I do like, but appreciate thats mostly personal.  Techwise much improved, night and day.

What do those that have moved think after using for a while, any regrets or things you preferred in the RX.

    Thanks

  8. I came from an XC90 T8 which had a 0-60 around 5.3 seconds and would give you a kick in the back as it changed gear at 60 but I don’t find the RX slow. Just put in sport if you need especially fast acceleration then back to normal.  Even in normal it’s ok. Fuel consumption between 33 and 38 depending on journey.

as others have said ask for another test drive to make sure you are happy

  9. I thought the 2020 Rx had Android Auto

i use this in my RX which works well but does seem to work best with Android 11 and above

    https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/aawireless#/

Just be wary of how quick your Battery may drain.  My S22 ultra will drain quicker than it can charge on the wireless charging pad so have to plug in anyway on long journeys.  My old P30 was ok but did drop connection with the device  occasionally (android 10 issue I believe)

  10. There are a few annoyances,

Cruise control will run away downhill then complain about it

The beeping from tailgate, why it beeps to tell you when you pressed the button I don’t know, if it was from inside the car I could understand.

That the stereo goes off with the ignition (previous Volvo would stay on until the door was opened)

Whilst the hybrid system is far from rubbish I would love to see the version IV hybrid system with the V6, having seen it in others cars it is far superior

My main dislike is the infotainment which is clunky and the scrolling down a list just awful.

  11. I managed to get a puncture on a Boxing Day, Costco said they couldn’t fix it (and didn’t charge me) and suggested I buy a new one,  they have only done 4,000 miles so fairly new.  Looking to get a replacement I haven’t been able to find one anywhere.  It came with Dunlop sport max 050 on size 235/55/20 102V.

These seem impossible to get anywhere, as couldn’t even find the size on Dunlop site.  Will be a call to the dealer tomorrow but I have never struggled to get a tyre before.  May end up with 2 new ones which I could do without spending the money on.

Has anyone else had problems with replacements, what do you normallly do?

I don't wish to personally attack anyone or cause offence to anyone but come on, the RX isn't THAT big!

Do delivery vans, bin wagons, BT vans, milk tankers and suchlike manage on these narrow lanes? If the answer to that is yes then it's not the RX at fault is it?

And yes, I do live in a town but having holidayed (is that even a word?) in Devon and Cornwall many times I'm no stranger to those narrow lanes by any means.

Agree it’s smaller than tankers BT and delivery vans,  but normally they aren’t the ones reversing due to size and lack of visibility for them.  In some cases the RX was to long to fit into the passing places.  Driving forward is no problem but meet something coming the other way and having to reverse 1/4 of a mile can be challenging.

  13. Thanks for the comparison.  My RX is my first Lexus and I love it however due to family moving on we are likely to downsize at some point and the NX will be on my list.  NX will also be easier to drive down the narrow lanes in Devon when we go there.  It was not fun having to reverse a quarter of a mile down a narrow lane with beeping from all sides.  But having said that my RX is one of the few cars I appear to have become emotionally attached even after only 3,000 miles.

regarding the fuel consumption I am getting around the same as you but I have noticed 60mph seems to give much better fuel consumption that at 70 if you have the time.
