  2. I have just rung round the lexus garages round my area for my 60k service and got the following quotes:

    Bolton - £575

    Manchester - £574

    Stockport - £570

    Liverpool - £532.40

All the above will provide me with a brand new IS250 or IS220D for the day with a full tank of fuel. Liverpool also said, As my car is an 04 plate they will check the Timing Belt and if needs replacing they will get it replaced for free through Lexus as the timing belt shouldnt need replacing on this age of car.

Thats the prices I have got so far, going to ring round them again and get them to play against each other.

Are these prices any good though??

Ring Lexus Hanley, they'll wipe the floor with those.

  3. I must express an interest here as I asked the same question some time ago about converting to LPG.

I have not taken advice on single or multipoint but everyone recommended a fast lube system as a must

    Yes, definitely.

Mileage quoted worries me. I have a light right foot and average 28 min on petrol. On a run I can get 33-34 mpg on petrol.

The average drop in consumption varies but is said to be about 10%. To get 18mpg you must be flooring it at every opportunity.

I don't get much more mpg than that on petrol to be honest! Like I said, it's very mixed driving (a big chunk of it is winding Mid Wales roads).

I'd expect you to get 30mpg on a run on LPG.

  4. I believe that's the squealie bit, yes.

Can't remember which way round they go, so check the ones that you take out, and fit the Mintex ones the same way.

If the rear ones are like the ones on the GS, they are VERY strange looking - to me at least! Pay attention when taking the old ones off so that you can figure out which way the clips go back on.

  5. Been running my GS for about 2 years now, Romano SVI (multipoint injection) system fitted with a 75 litre Stako toroidal tank in the spare wheel well.

Very happy with it, it's more than paid for itself.

    Quibbles:-

At high load & high RPM (hard acceleration in PWR mode, for example) it can't get fuel through quickly enough and will trip back to petrol until you ease off the throttle. Bigger injectors would probably cure this, but apparently I've got "C" injectors fitted already, and bigger ones aren't available!

Power is down a bit on LPG (noticeable when you switch to petrol and the car suddenly has more oomph), could increase the fuelling to counter this (got the cable and the software to communicate with the Romano ECU) but this means it trips back to petrol (see above) at a lower loading.

  6. Got multipoint on mine. More to go wrong (6 injectors instead of one), but runs fine. If you're fussy about more things to go wrong, ride a pushbike instead of a Lexus! :P

Only niggle is that it can't get enough fuel through at high load/RPM, at which point it'll trip back to petrol until you ease off a bit. Could do with bigger injectors really, but as mine are already apparently size "C" the newer (Romano fast) injectors don't go any bigger!

  7. Mine was the following (formatted below to fit a Samsung D500 screen):-

    I've just won a

    competition with

    Barclays 2 travel from

    Gatwick 2 Jamaica on

    Sat 28th July. Its all

    expenses and 10

    nights in a 5* hotel. I

    can take 7 friends and

    was wondering if

    you're not doing

    anything could you put

    my bin out on the

    Monday while I'm

    away?

My mother called me a git when I sent it to her

  8. I did that before. Started looking round for stuff to burn, spotted what looked like a piece of wood in the grounds of the flats behind my house. Grabbed it, turned out to be wood-effect uPVC. Chucked it on anyway, resulting in a thick plume of smoke that went up about 8 feet then mushroomed out. Flats 40 feet away, couldn't see them through the smoke. Whoops! :P

  9. Good lad.

For anyone else thinking about it, you've got to sign up to get the full list of participating dealers, but last time I checked the majority of dealers were involved. In a dense area such as London you're guaranteed to find one nearby!

Also of course, if you're close enough to Stoke-on-Trent you can go to Lexus Hanley and save even more! I'm about 100 miles from there and it's worth the trip!

  10. Haha, mine was pretty low last week with 6 bags of self levelling compound in the boot (150Kg). Plus a full 75 litre LPG tank. Plus the best part of a full tank of petrol!

Could get one finger in at the back, or four round at the front (wheel arches, that is).

Got to do the same again soon too, need to buy 22m² of floor tiles!

Anybody any idea how much a pack of tiles weighs? I don't mind putting 150Kg (equivalent to one really fat guy) in the boot, any more and I'd rather put some in the footwells or make two trips.
