  1. It took a day for my dealer to take the dash apart and fix two rattles, but I did gain a new one. Whereabouts is your rattle ? Welcome to the club..( rattle club that is) Yes its a dash out job MIne had it too now replaced its quiet and no problems As a number have been done Lexus know about the problem and how to fix it. The dash is taken out for quite a few other jobs so although it takes a long time to do it will be fine...but as for lexus build quality etc dont get me started.. How old is your car as I thought the rattle issues had been sorted on the newer built ones Good luck alan Purchased March 06 . The rattle seems to come form the passnger side of the dash
  2. I am so pleased with my new IS. However, I have a nasty rattle that has got worse over the past few weeks. Took it to my dealer to fix. They said that they need to keep it for 2 -3 days! as they might need to take the dash apart. Don't like the idea of my new £30k car being pulled apart already :-(
  3. Having had my IS250 for a couple of months, I just have to say how thrilled I am with it. The smoothness of the engine and the auto transmission is just superb. It feels solid well built and has great looks! This is my first Lexus. If it behaves itself , it won't be my last!! Having previously owned 3 mercs,1 C class and 2 E classes (which both let me down with faulty auto transmissions) The Lexus is a nice freshing change. I hae very few gripes with it: rear leg room isn't brilliant.( but heck there's only me and the wife most the time). I would like the doors to auto lock when I drive away and the wing mirrors to fold when engine turned off. But these are trivial things really. LAstly, I have a small raatle coming from the front passenger side - door, dash - not sure really. But I guess my friendly dealer will ort that out. All in all, it's a great car. If you've popped into this forum as someone in the market for one of these beauties, go for it!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. Strange question I know, but on the UK models of the new IS, the rear number plate is extra wide. Why is this I wonder? I intend to put my own private plate on, wonder if it would look better normal height (that's if it can be fitted)
  5. Thanks for the feedback. The dealer I visited said they have very small margins to play with and they are on 5% I am considering a PCP deal and this dealer came up with figures of £50 per month more than another lexus dealer I phoned last week. It certainly pays to shop around. But it makes me wonder who is telling the truth. Perhaps because it was my first visit and test drive, my local dealer wanted to play hard to get!
  6. Took my first drive in a RX300 SEL yesterday. Wow! I like it! Ifelt king of the road. However, I am very disappointed at the deal offered. Effectively the dealer offered me £700 off the retail price. I thought they would do better So I am may not be contributing to your esteemed owners list
  7. Anyone know of any company offering good PCP deal on a RX300SEL woodpack?
  8. Here I go again! First RX300 test drive this Saturday. Any tips? Do you think I might get deal to tempt an old mercedes customer to Lexus? I gather that waiting time is dependant on colour preference. I have heard I could wait between 3 weeks and 3 months according to my choice. Are the imports of RX's limited?
  9. As I said in my original post I get average of 26mpg form the C200K. Thanks for sharing your experience. I don't expect the RX to perform like a Porsche and return good fuel economy. I am looking for luxury / performance compromise on a vehicle that pulls away swiftly enough form islands and junctions to be safe. I take test condition mpg stated on spec. sheets with a pinch of salt. It is always good to hear what happening in the real world!
  10. Apologies, this is my second question today as a new forum memeber who is still considering buying a RX300SEL. At present I have a Mercedes Class coupe C200 Kompressor Auto. I do low mileage 10k a year. mostly do town and suberb driving. The onboard computer indicates to me that overall I return 26mpg. I think I would like the luxury of the RX300 (about to test drive this weekend) but is my bank balance going to be dented considerably more from petrol bills? The spec. states 16mpg ouch! is this really the case or is it even worse! Maybe I should go for the MB ML270 diesel
  11. Parking camera on SEL any good. accurate? or just a gimic you stopped using after a week or two?
