  1. HI, My car has come up with the following codes after cutting out, then starting and driving fine for a couple of days and then happening again. In between it happening again i took the codes and cleared them. The codes are P0340 Camshaft Position Sensor & P0093 Fuel Leak (which i dont have) Are there any common issues with these? any easy things to check before i have to haul it into the local garage? Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks Nick
  2. since i have just cleared the fault code P0093, major fuel leak, i havent had an issue. will check the ABS unit
  3. HI, My car cut out, started again ok and drives fine. It came up with Check VSC message and a few lights, are there any common issues to check and an order of what to check first ie easiest! Thanks Nick
  4. Hi, I have an is220d, 2007, where I am having issues with the drivers side belt buckle in that I have to push the button down while putting the belt in to ensure it latched on. So I need to change the buckle, I am assuming I need to take the seat out to do this, is there anything to be mindful of when doing this, there are a few electronic bits but assume you just disconnect and reconnect Any advice would be greatfully received Thanks. Nick
  5. Hi, I have a slipping clutch and am getting some quite expensive quotes back for changing the clutch, i have a 2007 is 220d. They are saying that along with the clutch i will need to change the flywheel which is dual mass, so this makes the quote even higher, does this actually need to be done?? Quotes are around £750 for the clutch, when you add the flywheel they go up to around £1,500. The car is quite old being a 2007 so if going up to £1,500 probably not worth doing! Any advice around if the flywheel needs replacing and any idea of costs would be useful. Thanks Nick
  6. HI, My IS220D 2007 has just failed the MOT on emissions, the chap said take it for a blast up the motorway and they will test again. The car does a lot of short journeys as i work a mile away from my house, it does have a good blast of about 90 miles every other week, although doesn't really go above 2000 rpm, i thinking the short journeys do not help. I was thinking of putting a cleaner in the diesel which may help get it over the line, can anyone recommend a good diesel / engine cleaning additive? Also any other advice. Nick
  7. Hi, IS220d 2007 When I put my foot down the revs shoot up and after a second or two drop back down slightly and the car picks up speed, it seems as if the clutch slips, this doesn't happen if gentle on the throttle. Is this common, could it be anything alse than a new clutch? Thanks in advance Nick
  8. Hi, I have just had the battery light come on, so tested the alternator and it's charging at 13.6, is this too low and time for a new alternator Thanks Nick
  9. Apologies if this seems like a stupid question, but I have a leak coming from just below the water pump and not sure what the item is, is it part of the water pump? It looks like the gasket has gone as coming from the joint, seems pretty easy to change once I have the right gasket, any advise would be welcome Nick
  10. I have a slight issue in that when it gets down to approx - 2 and below my is 220d struggles to start and can take 5 /6 attempts at turning over. I have tried the priming button but not sure it actually worked after activating it last time as didn't hear it, is this common, any advise. It's a 2007 and done 145000, with no real issues. Could be glow plugs not functioning properly? Thanks Nick
  11. it did run quite low on the journey this happened approx 10 miles left, I try not to get this low!, will try filling up with premium diesel as you suggest, cheers
  12. hi, I have started to have a slight issue where the car (is 220d) drives fine then it will slightly stutter as if loses power then pick up again, just for a second, it will do this this a few times. if I pull over to check, and then start off again all is fine. it seems to go for half hour / hour fine and then splutters slightly. Are there any common faults that this could be? Thanks for any advice in advance nick
  13. Hi, I have recently got a IS220D which i am quite happy with, but upon acceleration, mainly from 2nd to 3rd i get a puff of black smoke out of the exhaust, its generally if i accelerate hard there tends to be black smoke. Is this a common item?? any suggestions for an easy fix? Thanks Nick
