I have a 2016 model which I have owned since it was 1 year old and across that period I have averaged 34-35mpg.  I don't do much mileage, much of which is short journeys in 20mph zones in London.  With a bit of adaptation, due to the imposed low speeds, I find the hybrid system balances battery and ICE power quite well.

Interesting that the new RX will no longer have the six cylinder engine and slightly less radical looks.  Not sure if buying a new model will incur more depreciation than normal when the new model takes over.

Thanks for the information Peter. From the information that has been provided,I would say that my average fuel consumption should be between 34-35 mpg.I think that the later models of RX 450h 2020-2022,are a little more economical than the earlier models.

One of the reasons I am buying the car is because of its silky smooth 6 cylinder engine, and the seamless way it delivers it's power from Battery to ICE.

Not sure about the new model of RX.From what I can see it is loaded with new technology, and has a 4 cylinder engine. I think that the vehicle is supplied with run flat  tyres as standard ( not good for road noise).

As far as buying a new RX 450h is concerned, I managed to negotiate a really good price,it worked out cheaper than buying a 5 month old model.

  2. I have ordered a new RX450H fitted with a 3.5 litre V6 engine. The official MPG is between 35-36 MPG.I am very curious to find out from the owners of this model, what fuel consumption figures they are experiencing. My driving habits  consist of a mixture of short trips and longer motorway journeys. From what I can  understand  the hybrid system is more suited to stop/start driving conditions.Constant speed motorway cruising  tends to use mostly  ICE,as very little free electrical energy (braking/coasting)  is going back into the Battery.I am assuming that the motorway fuel consumption would not be that good.I do appreciate that in the winter months the fuel consumption figures will be lower.

I do not have a heavy right foot!

I look forward to your comments.

    Hi Ian,

I have a service plan running (my 2nd one)  which I pay monthly as it’s interest free, if I remember correctly, my local dealership priced it very competitively to the point it became a ‘no brainer’ not to purchase it

It gives the added benefit of no increase in costs during its lifespan of 3 years which seems a perfect solution to me….

on my previous RX I initially used to just pay each service but then realised the benefits and took a plan out.

The £1280.00 they have quoted you is the full current cost of an intermediate service@£325 , a full service @£630, followed by another intermediate @£325 so I’d try and haggle if you can to reduce those prices by 10% perhaps for being a gold member on the forum?

    Hello Kevin,

Thanks very much for providing the servicing costs breakdown.I now know  that there are 2 intermediate and 1 major service carried out during the 3 year  period, (not knowing I  thought that it might have been 3 major services).  With current inflation rates running at over 10%,I am tempted to take the Lexus 3 year fixed price service plan.I will try to negotiate a discount.

  4. I ordered my NX350H Premium Pack Plus back in November 2021.The Lexus dealership took a £500 deposit and said that the delivery date would be sometime in May. The deposit would be fully refundable if I was not happy after test driving the dealership vehicle. In March an NX350H became available at the dealership, and I went for a test drive. I was quite happy with the vehicle, my wife however found the seats to be uncomfortable, and commented about the road noise. After the test drive I informed the dealer that I was happy to proceed with the order,(I convinced my wife that the car was no noisier than our Range Rover). The dealer then informed us that the delivery date would be mid July, then  delivery was  pushed to August/September, in fact nobody from Lexus could give an exact delivery date. I was getting a little frustrated at this point in time, and there was also a seed of doubt in my mind about my wife's thoughts about the car. I decided to take a test drive in an old model  RX 450H Premium. The car was very quiet,(no run flat tires), easy to drive, comfortable with good all round visibility,  instrumentation was logically laid out and not overly complicated. The vehicle is powered by a 3.5litre V6 engine that is silky smooth, I averaged 35mpg on the test drive. My wife found the car to be both quiet and comfortable. The old model of RX 450H has been around for some time so most faults(if any) have been ironed out. I was so impressed with the vehicle that I placed  an order for the old model RX450 Premium(delivery confirmed December), I then  cancelled my NX350H order. The long term waiting times for the NX350H and my impatience pushed me in a different direction, and now I feel that the right choice has been made,

It has been really interesting to read your comments about the NX350H/450H, and I hope that delivery will be soon for those people still waiting with long term outstanding orders.

I am now switching to RX450 forums.

    All the best.

  5. I ordered my Lexus 350H with the Premium Plus Pack in mid November. I was told at the time of the order that the delivery date would be in May. I revisited the showroom a few weeks ago in order to take the demonstration vehicle out for a test drive. I was very impressed with the overall performance and refinement of the vehicle. The sales person then informed that the delivery date had been pushed back to July. I have tried to check the build status on my Lexus account, but no build date has been given. I would not be surprised  if the dealer informs at a later date that the  expected delivery date has been pushed back to September.

If it is any consolation, I was going to order a Range Rover Velar, but was told that the delivery time would be approximately one year, and the vehicle would not necessarily come with all the option extras that I wanted due to silicon chip shortages. I walked away without placing an order, then I walked into the Lexus showroom and placed my order for the NX 350H.At the time of order the dealership seemed quite confident about a May delivery. I walked away feeling quite happy with my decision.

Hopefully I will receive my NX350 in July.

    All the best

If it's any help, a couple of days ago I tested a 450h which I should think is of the same quality as a 350h and it was the quietest cars I ever driven at any speed, and I have driven many mostly German made cars.

    Thanks for the information.

It interesting to hear your comments on how quiet the vehicle is, I would imagine that most of the time the 450H that you tested was running from the Battery, which is a great way to test a vehicle for road and wind noise. It would appear that Lexus have done a very good job with the sound insulation.

  7.  I have just been in contact with my local Lexus dealer regarding an update to my order that was placed at the  end of November, my order was for an NX 350H with premium plus pack. I was told at the time of ordering that the expected delivery would be in May, the dealer has now informed me that the expected delivery date has been pushed back to July. In the next few weeks I will book at test drive in the 350H and see how it performs, my main concerns are road and wind noise. I have driven a Toyota RAV 4 Hybrid and was quite impressed with the comfort, but at motorway cruising speed  it seemed to pick up a lot of road noise. I know that the Lexus NX shares the same platform as the Toyota Rav4, so I am hoping that Lexus will be a little more refined.  I was informed by the Lexus salesperson that if I was not happy with the vehicle after the test drive I could cancel the order.

  8. Hello,

I placed an order in November for a NX350h with the Premium Plus Pack, the colour I have chosen is Sonic Titanium. The salesman said that the expected delivery date for my ordered vehicle would be sometime in May.

I wanted  to take a test drive in the vehicle before buying, but a vehicle was not available. According to the Lexus dealership in Reading, a vehicle should be available for a test drive in January. The  dealership said that if I was not happy with the vehicle after the test drive, they would cancel the order and refund my deposit.

Hopefully I will be happy with the new Lexus  NX350H !
