To be perfectly honest my driving is style is quite casual, but I do like to be made aware of speed cameras and red light cameras. My UX is equipped with Android Auto so I will probably be using either Waze or Tom Tom Amigo apps, they both have audible alerts and show speed cameras / red light cameras. Both Apps provide regular map updates and can be downloaded FOC.

Thanks to all for providing some helpful information. I have tried various options that were available in the Map-Navigation Menu, unfortunately speed cameras are not listed. I have also tried searching Navigation settings within the Multi Function Display on the dashboard, but nothing was listed. The Sat-Nav system on my vehicle appears to be quite basic and does not seem to give the operator a large range of navigation options to choose from. I think that all of the older models of the UX probably had speed camera options installed, but the later UX models fitted with the 8 inch touch screens do not seem to have that facility.

Having just taken delivery of my new UX250H Sport Design, I am just in the process of working my way through the various instrument controls and functions. The vehicle is fitted with the basic 8 inch satellite navigation system which appears to work quite well, but it does not show speed cameras on the map or give audible alerts for the cameras. I have checked the settings menu which seems quite basic, I could not find an option for speed cameras. I am just wondering if speed cameras are not an option on the basic 8 inch sat-nav. Does anybody with a vehicle fitted with the smaller 8 inch satellite navigation have speed cameras installed on their system? Thanks.

I have just taken delivery of a brand new UX250H Sport Design. After reading several positive reviews about the new Lexus LBX I was interested in purchasing this vehicle subject to a test drive. Three weeks ago I was informed by my local Lexus dealership that a LBX Takumi was available for a test drive. I had narrowed my choice down to two cars, the LBX and the UX250H sport design. I was currently driving a RX450H which is a fantastic quiet refined vehicle, but rather large for just my wife and I. We arrived at the local Lexus dealership in order to test drive the LBX and UX vehicles back to back. Firstly we drove the UX 250h sport, we were both pleasantly surprised how comfortable and easy to drive the vehicle was, manoeuvrability excellent, road noise not to intrusive, and a big bonus - (no horrible beeping noises if you are travelling above the speed limit). We then drove the LBX Takumi, and I must say that we were both a little disappointed with the drive, the suspension seemed to be on the firm side, and the power delivery was not as smooth as the UX250H, also we found the seats to be uncomfortable. My wife and I both agreed that that UX 250H was the car for us. We managed to negotiate a very good price for the UX250H Sport Design, Lexus are trying to sell-off the old stock of the UX before the newer model arrives (UX300H). Having driven the UX over the past few days I am absolutely delighted with the car, on short journeys the car is averaging nearly 50mpg. Please see attached pictures.

I was misinformed by the reviews by Parkers Guide and Car Magazine, they both said : What it’s like to drive? "The LBX has a 1.5-litre three-cylinder engine with an electric motor powered by Toyota’s ‘self-charging’ (ie not plug-in) hybrid technology. It differs from the version used in the Yaris Cross in a few respects, including the employment of a balance shaft designed to make it smoother".

Unfortunately my local Lexus dealership will not have a LBX available for a test drive until March. I have read several reviews about the LBX and most of them seem to be quite positive. The LBX shares the same platform as the Toyota Yaris Cross, but Lexus claims that the LBX is more refined than the Toyota Yaris, this is due to the fact that additional soundproofing has been added, also the LBX 3 cylinder engine is fitted with a counter balance shaft which is meant to reduce vibration. During your test drive how did you find the ride qaulity, in particular road noise /engine noise? Not sure as to value for money for such a small car, you can obtain some very good discounts at the moment on new a UX. I own an RX 450H and am possibly thinking of downsizing to either a UX or LBX. About 1 1/2 years ago I had seen advertised for sale a 2022 RX450H which was available to view at my local Lexus main dealer. I visited the dealership and went for a test drive in the advertised vehicle. The vehicle was an ex demonstrator model with low mileage, I decided to make them an offer for the vehicle. The vehicle was advertised for £54,000, I was prepared to pay £52,000.The salesperson who I was dealing with said "I cannot make a decision about the price without seeking approval from the sales manager." The salesperson returned after visiting the sales manager and said "the price that I had offered was below the cost price and the dealership would not make a profit". I walked away from the dealership and decided to look at all the costs for buying a new RX450H Mk 4. I gave Carwow all the details of the vehicle that I required, this would be to exactly the same specification as the ex demonstrator vehicle that I had wanted to buy from the Lexus main dealer. When all of the quotations came back to Carwow from the dealerships, I was quite surprised to see that my local dealership was offering a brand new RX450H for £50,000 ( £4,000 less than the ex demonstrator model they were advertising). I decided to buy a new RX450h via Carwow, they put me in touch with my Local Lexus dealership. I was so pleased to have purchased a brand new car for less money than an ex demonstrator model. I had noticed that the same vehicle that I had test driven at the Lexus dealership was still for sale 5 months later at a price of £50,000. I have learnt not to always believe a car salesperson, it far better to follow your own nose, and sometimes look away from main dealerships as they tend to keep second hand vehicle prices unrealistically high.

Judging by the comments the 2.5 litre 4 cylinder engine seems to be fairly refined with no noticeable difference to the V6. My car is coming up for a service shortly, I will ask the dealership for a RX350H as a loan car, I can then draw my own conclusions about the vehicle. You quite rightly said that my vehicle is relatively new and to part exchange it now would mean that I would take a big hit in depreciation. The RX450H that I am driving at the present time was purchased just before the newer model was launched, so I received a massive discount from the dealership. I shall probably end up keeping my existing car for at least another three years, by which time Lexus might be offering good discounts on the Gen 5 models. At my age I am not sure if I can hang on long enough for the launch of the Gen 6😄. Thanks.

I would like to know if anybody has driven the fifth generation RX350H ? I have read several reviews about the vehicle and generally the reviews seem to be positive. The ride qaulity and handling of the vehicle appear to be very good, most reviews say the six cylinder engine would be the engine of choice for this vehicle (if it where available.) The four cylinder engine that comes with the hybrid does not seem to live up to the high standard of the RX. I currently own a RX450H which was purchased new in 2022, I am very pleased with the vehicle. The build qaulity is first class, and the vehicle is supremely comfortable, plus the added bonus is the silky smooth V6 power plant which delivers power effortlessly. Looking to the future, I am just wondering if it would be worth upgrading to the fifth generation RX 350H.I am not really sure if the newer model can be that much better than the fourth generation RX. Prices for the new RX350H start at £62,125 going up to the top spec Takumi £76,625. Since the new model of the RX has been released, I have not actually seen one of these cars on the road. Any comments would be welcome

Thanks for the information about Dislock steering wheel lock, I am sure that it quite effective and would act as a good deterrent for potential thief's. Surprisingly not one of the insurance companies that I contacted asked whether a steering wheel lock was fitted to the vehicle. I really did not want to go begging to my former insurance company as they refused to insure my car, I preferred to take my business elsewhere.

My car insurance is coming up for renewal, the insurance company who I am presently insured with sent the following : "We're unable to give you a renewal quote for your vehicle (RX450H year 2022). This is because our underwriting criteria is no longer being met and we are no longer able to provide insurance for this vehicle" I was quite shocked to receive this information, I can only assume this is due to the amount of thefts that are taking place on this model of car. I have visited on several car insurance comparison web sites and have spoken to several insurance brokers, the good news is that I can obtain insurance for my vehicle, but at a price. I live in a sleepy village about 40miles from London, the car is always parked on my driveway, I am retired, so the vehicle is only used for social use, my annual mileage is below average. From what I have read on the Lexus Forum web site is that the "Can Bus" method is used to steal this type of vehicle, and I understand that Lexus are installing metal plates to the vehicle in order to help prevent this type of theft. What surprised me is that when speaking to the insurance brokers, nobody ask the question as to weather the vehicle has this metal plate installed, I would have thought that if the insurance company was aware that the vehicle has the plate fitted, it might help to reduce the cost of the insurance. Hopefully if enough owners of this vehicle will have the plates fitted, in the future insurance companies might take note and reduce their premiums.

Hello, I was a little concerned about the security of my car after reading about your experience of the attempted theft on your RX, using the Can Bus method. I did not realise how venerable we RX owners are. I was not aware that this method was used to steal cars, it quite worrying . I always keep my car keys in a Faraday pouch. I have two pouches, one pouch is for the spare key, and the other is for the key that I use everyday. Recently I have started to get a little paranoid about having my car stolen, so I decided to check the security of my Faraday pouch. Keeping my key within the pouch I proceeding to my car and grabbed the door handle, to my surprise the door opened. I then transferred the key into the unused Faraday pouch and tried to open the car, the door remained locked. It would appear that after several years of use the Faraway pouch looses its effectivity. I have now ordered a new Faraday pouch. Anybody who stores their car keys in a Faraday pouch that is several years old, it might be worth checking the effectiveness of the pouch. I was quite shore that my RX keys were safe in the my old Faraday pouch !

Hello Jonathan, Thank you for providing an interesting unbiased review of the new RX450+.I have read several online reviews about the new RX model, most of the reviews seem to positive. The only negative points seem to be the "buzzy" 4 cylinder engine, overcomplicated electronic door locks, and the fiddly touch sensitive controls mounted on the steering wheel. From what you have said the new RX seems to be more refined and quieter than the previous model. During your test drive did you find the 4 cylinder engine as quiet as the old RX 6 cylinder engine?

I totally agree with your comments. I own a 4th generation RX, and I must say that it is quietest most refined/comfortable car that I have ever owned. In terms of ride qaulity I cannot see that the 5th generation RX is gong to be an improvement over the 3/4th generation RX. Having seen various road test reports (RX350H), several negative comments have emerged, firstly the touch sensitive controls mounted on the steering wheel which control the media/cruise controls etc seem overly sensitive. The touch sensitive controls work in conjunction with the HUD, the controls are not user friendly and appear difficult to operate,(a distraction for the driver).The second issue seems to be with the electronic door locks, they just seem to be overly complicated. The electronic door locks used on the RX are the same as fitted to the NX. Several NX owners have reported that during freezing conditions they are unable to enter their vehicle due to a malfunction of the door lock. Lastly, I cannot see that a 4 cylinder power plant will ever give you the same smoothness of power delivery as a 6 cylinder power unit, it is just not possible. The RX deserves a 6 cylinder power plant. The quoted fuel consumption figures for RX5 hybrid might be hard to achieve in the real world, as the smaller 4 cylinder engine will be working a lot harder than the larger more graceful 6 cylinder unit. The RX5 comes with touch screen controls/electronic door locks, and a whole host technological gadgets. I think that sometimes this new car technology works against the driver, please just keep it simple! I will be keeping my old fashioned RX, with its push button controls, and big analogue dials for some considerable time.

The figure of 67 dB is not far from the website figure. I really do not know how accurate the sound meter apps are in comparison to a properly calibrated dB meter. Several factors can influence dB levels - road surface, type of tyre fitted to the vehicle, and weather conditions.

Hello John, I am very curious to find out how the new RX ride/comfort compares with the older model. I have read several American reviews about the new RX350H,they all have said that the new 4 cylinder engine tends to be noisy. In my opinion they should never have discontinued the silky smooth 6 cylinder engine, it was perfectly suited to the vehicle. I would love to hear your comments after the test drive.

I have just been reading an Autocar review of the new Range Rover Sport D300 Dynamic SE. In the review Autocar said that the Range Rover Sport registered just 60dBA of cabin noise at a 50mph cruise. They then went on to compare the dBA levels with an Audi Q8 and BMW X5, each registered at the same speed 2dBA more than the Range Rover Sport. I own a RX450H and I am extremely impressed with how quiet the vehicle is, even when travelling over uneven road surfaces the noise within the cabin is minimal. I was very curious about the db levels within the RX450H cabin. From an independent source I found that the Lexus 450H recorded 54.3db at 65mph, (nearly 6db lower than the Range Rover Sport) I was truly impressed. What I have noticed is that most UK automotive reviews seem to be obsessed with 0-60 times and tend to favour German cars, when it comes to Lexus they mostly look on the negative side, (mainly condemning the CVT drive system). I have nothing but praise for my RX 450H, the drive and refinement levels are superb, far better than my previous Range Rover. It is a pity that Autocar did not compare the Range Rover Sport dBA levels with the Lexus 450H, (people would then realise that the RX450H is a truly refined car).

According to the technical specifications and various road test reviews the NX450H has a 18.1 kwh battery with an all electric driving speed of up to 83mph.The NX350H has a smaller 1.6kwh battery with an all electric driving speed of approximately 43mph.The RX450H all electric driving speed would be < 43mph due to the fact that it is a heavier vehicle.

Hello Dimi, Yes, the waiting times for the new NX350H are ridiculous. Since the new model was launched there has been two price increases, I wonder if the dealerships will honour the original price of the vehicle when the order was placed? The last time that I spoke to my Lexus dealer, I was informed that they were no longer taking orders for the NX350H. I know that some dealerships bought some new stock of the RX450H before it was discontinued, you might be lucky and still obtain a new RX450H (old model) at are greatly reduced price. There are also some very good low mileage preowned RX models on the market, and I am sure the dealerships would give you a very good deal at this time of the year. I was quite lucky as I managed to buy one of the last older models of RX450H at a greatly reduced price. The price that I paid for the car was virtually the same a new NX350H with premium pack plus. In my opinion the RX 450H just feels a little more premium than the NX 350H.The RX450H does not have the same new technology as the NX350H, but instead is fitted with older style controls, it retains all of the character of a classic well-built vehicle. The RX is powered by a V6 engine which delivers the power in a silky smooth manner, and is effortless to drive. All the best.

Having owned my RX450H for less than a month, my average fuel consumption is around 35mpg.My journeys consist of a mixture of short stop start trips and longer motorway journeys. I think that 35mpg is remarkable, considering that it is powered by a 3.5 litre engine. The fuel consumption is far better than my previous Range Rover. I am absolutely delighted with the car.

The car that I was driving a year ago was a Range Rover. The vehicle was approaching 3 years old, so I and was looking to replace the vehicle with a newer model. A test drive was arranged for me at the local Land Rover dealership. After the test drive I wanted to place an order for the vehicle, I was told that due to silicone chip shortages certain items would be omitted from the vehicle - HUD/ interactive driver display/surround camera view/only 1 vehicle key supplied. The delivery time for the vehicle would be over 1 year. The price of the vehicle was the full RRP, without any reduction for the items that were omitted. I walked away without placing an order. One week later I walked into the local Lexus dealership in order to view the new NX350H which was in their showroom for one day only. I was very impressed by the car and decided to place an order for the vehicle, (subject to a test drive at a later date). Several months later I went for a test drive in the NX350H. The vehicle was very easy to drive, road noise was a little louder than I had expected (run flat tyres), seats were fairly comfortable, infotainment was provided by a huge flat screen facing the driver, this was loaded with new technology. I am a traditionalist; I prefer physical buttons and dials to control settings within the car. I decided to proceed with the order, dealer informed me that delivery would be in May 2022. The month of May came, no delivery, dealership now saying expected delivery date July. The month of July came, no delivery, dealership now saying expected delivery date October. The month of October came, no delivery, dealership now saying December. By this time, I had lost my patience, so I cancelled the order. On the forecourt of the same Lexus dealership, I had seen a very nice second hand RX450H. I took the car for a test drive, I was hugely impressed by the vehicle, it was quiet, luxurious, had good visibility, and driver controls that could easily be operated. I found that the combination of the 6-cylinder engine and the CVT transmission provided a silky-smooth experience (far better than my Range Rover 9 speed auto box). After the test drive I decided to place an order for the older model RX fitted with the 6-cylinder engine. In November I received my new RX450h, and I am absolutely delighted with the car. I would say that it is the best car that I have ever owned, the build quality and comfort are far superior to my previous Range Rover. I have no regrets about cancelling my order for the NX350H. I was searching the internet in order to find some more information, about a new Lexus car that I was interested in purchasing. Whilst searching the internet,I came across the Lexus Owners Club. The information that I have received from club members has been invaluable.

Thanks for the information Peter.From the information that has been provided,I would say that my average fuel consumption should be between 34-35 mpg.I think that the later models of RX 450h 2020-2022,are a little more economical than the earlier models. One of the reasons I am buying the car is because of its silky smooth 6 cylinder engine,and the seamless way it delivers it's power from battery to ICE. Not sure about the new model of RX.From what I can see it is loaded with new technology,and has a 4 cylinder engine. I think that the vehicle is supplied with run flat tyres as standard ( not good for road noise). As far as buying a new RX 450h is concerned, I managed to negotiate a really good price,it worked out cheaper than buying a 5 month old model.
