    Really?
The map send to car feature is still missing on mine. And can't plot a route, so basically useless.

The send to car feature never worked properly on my previous RX and I found the satnav completely useless anyway.

When I purchased the NX it was made clear to me that the app did not support the old “send to car” feature although it was hoped that it would do at some point in the future.

I still find the on board satnav pretty useless so just use Google maps hence I can pre plan a route if I need to.

Hi, Anyone had any update or success in resolving this matter. It is the most useless App going. For a Prestige Brand its a shocking afterthought. I have had no end of issues from day one with this App. My first and last Lexus!

No problems with the app here, everything works just fine 👍

Feels MUCH bigger than the NX and more than the actual additional dimensions with supermarket car park spaces tight. The parking aids (camera etc) a huge help.

Ken, that was exactly the point I was trying to make to the wife when we were changing from the RX to the NX. The RX only feels much bigger when in fact it is only slightly bigger. I think that the more curved lines of the NX on the bonnet and from the mid doors upwards is the reason why it feels much smaller.

Oh, and I do miss the boot space of the RX and the retractable boot cover. On paper the RX and NX are similar but practically the RX can consume more.

I'm not at all convinced that underwriters any longer recognise the financial consequences that used to differentiate between 'fault' and 'no fault' claims.  It seems to be more a question of finding any reason to load your premium ... even if there isn't one!!

    Exactly that ^^^^^^^^^^

Its the way of most companies these days, always trying to find a way of increasing director’s bonuses, sorry, I mean profits by using whatever means they can to screw their customers.

So that aside, in answer to your question you get a bigger car (strangely looks and feels much, much bigger than the fairly minimal extra dimensions in comparison to the NX), a quieter, more refined cabin, more comfortable seats (possibly the same very comfortable seats of the NX but with extra padding), superior ride thanks to the longer wheelbase  more presence on the road and styling that sets it apart. It also gives a panoramic roof option which wasnt available on the NX450h+. The NX is a fantastic car and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend however the RX is a Lexus that truly wafts along the road

Having moved from a RX 4th gen to a NX450 I would agree with every one of your observations Ken, particularly looking and feeling much larger over the NX that the dimensions suggest.
As for the seats I found the them to be a little larger and longer in under thigh area than the NX

  6. I knew you couldn’t resist and I don’t need to tell you to enjoy your RX450h since I know you will 👍.
One thing I can assure you of is that I still miss our RX450. TBH the drive in the NX450h, as good as it is, is a fair way off the RX. I do regret giving in to the wife and changing to the NX but in the end it made sense, even more so over the past 12 months since she has had to do all of the driving after I had to surrender my license because of a medical condition.

However that now changes, I started being able to drive again this week and after sitting in the RX again today which the dealer was doing a map update on the NX has rekindled my thoughts to change back.

I haven’t noticed any apparent drop in standards by my dealership. Indeed I can't praise them highly enough.

That’s been my experience too, Ken.  And I don’t think the dealerships are connected.

Exactly my experience, it really does appear to be specific dealership dependent because I’ve heard negative comments about one other dealership operated by the same parent company

UK's Council is a sick joke, they charge us huge amount of council tax every month and do nothing. In my city the pot holes are so deep and big that a cat can sleep in it.

You will probably find that a large percentage of the council tax levy is used towards funding their gold plated defined benefit pension schemes.

This is one area of spend breakdown that they never provide. These schemes are so costly to keep funded that they were closed by private businesses many years ago.

  9. Ken, I moved from a RX to an NX but only because we didn’t need a big car any longer and my wife wanted something more easy for her to judge when doing manoeuvres.
I had no issues with the RX, in fact I found it easier to manoeuvre and park than the NX because I could see the bonnet on the RX from my driving position, something that I can’t do in the NX since it isn’t as long and slopes more downwards. The 360deg cameras help in both cars.

TBH I would go back to the RX in a heartbeat, but since we decided to go down to one car I also have to consider the other half.

  10. The fact that some are experiencing problems after the update and others aren’t is baffling.

The only effect that the update has had on mine is deleting the satnav favourites and changing the order of radio stations in the presets. The latter took me 2 minutes to change back again and the former I will save again when next doing those journeys. Everything else seems to be working just as it did prior to the update.

  11. Thinkware can supply side cameras to compliment their dashcams.

As pointed out though, the 12v Battery isn’t much use for parking mode - I think I get about 5 mins with my Thinkware dashcam before the camera shuts itself down due to the low 12v Battery charge (it monitors the 12v Battery. However, if you want an all singing all dancing system they also supply auxiliary back up batteries. Anything is possible, all depends how much you want to spend.

Disclaimer: I have no association with Thinkware, It has just been my dashcam of choice over the past 6 years

So they can tax us more. If they didn't tax it here they would just implement a tax elsewhere to make up the numbers.

Unfortunately motorists are considered fair game by all bodies who wish to raise cash. Always have been and always will be.

Its not just central government, just looks at all of the sce Hermes being dreamt up by local authorities.

Good example is the QE2 crossings at Datford. The tolls paid for their constructions many years ago but they just keep dreaming up new reasons why the tolls should not be abolished whilst charging U.K. motorists but ignoring all of the foreign visitors who leave without paying the toll.

At least the Severn Bridge tolls were scrapped.

    No mistake there

Any car over the £40k band pays an extra £390 which I believe is for the first 5 years. This has been ongoing since 2017

Exactly, and in true fashion inflation doesn’t happen to elements of our government’s taxation policy.
The £40k threshold was set in 2017 and will no doubt still be here in 2030 so that every new car is captured by it.

  14. Just to rectify the view that all the NX’s are the same, the reason I went for the F-Sport was for the AVS, which isn’t available on any other NX.

After experiencing AVS on the RX for 5 years I decided that it was something that I wanted to retain if downsizing to the NX.

Additionally I deduced that the Takumi only provided me with one option which I would have liked which is “Front cross alert assist,” but I wasn’t willing to shell out a further £4k and give up the AVS just to have front cross alert assist. I decided I could make do with the side view from the front cameras.

The seats in the F-Sport I find to be very comfortable and hugging, not quite as deep in the cushion as the RX F-Sport seats, but seats I can and have spent the biggest part of a day in.

As advised by the AA and others on these forums, I have been putting the car into ‘Ready Mode’ when hoovering the floor mats or loading / unloading the boot - something I have never had to do with any other car!

I have raised the matter with Lexus again.

As others have pointed out, the 12v Battery does not have the capacity that one would have fitted to ICE cars. I found this out the hard way when fitting front & rear dash cams during which I found myself locked inside the car on 2 occasions.
Yes, before the Battery fully depletes it goes in to “protect” mode and locks the car. Not fun having to climb from the front seat through to the boot to be able to use the manual release.
The low capacity 12v Battery works fine though after leaving the car for 3 weeks at an airport so I guess it does what it is designed to do & now I know what its limitations are I plan accordingly, it doesn’t really present any hardship.

  16. I think I’d be asking the after sales manager to explain how this can be ok and why, if it is ok, there is a mandated level that manufacturers have for filling the oil level to.
If it’s a mixture of petrol and oil in there then they need to look at it. 1 inch of petrol just doesn’t naturally appear in the sump.
