  1. That makes me feel better about doing it! did you get a US one or just cut it out? Did you also smooth it? I can’t help but feel they wouldn’t waste plastic (money) in the fins if it didn’t help airflow!
  2. Hi, I’m suspicious my Lexus is250 has had an undeclared accident. It’s clear on vCheck. No auction no salvage etc, and bought from an indi dealer so I’m hoping I’m wrong. Car has good service history (one small gap) and only 2 previous owners. But. - Bonnet has strange paint chipping at the top edge that looks to me link a poorly respray. - Outdoor temp sensor is bodged with a space connector rather than the factor plug that makes me thing the bumper has been heavy handedly removed - Both mounts in the airbox are snapped - The engine cover has a breakers yard part number written on it in chalk and none of the engine plastics are pinned down. - Possible there’s a few MM less bonnet gap on drivers side compared to passenger. - Factory splitter split in the middle, doesn’t match up It could be innocent. - It’s recently had a water pump which (I assume) requires the air box being removed and they’re often brittle or over tightened - Front bumper being removed breaking the ambient sensor again could be down to other non-damage repair work. Water pump or exhaust? - Bonnet edge could be common problem or just ware over time - Its a 14 year old splitter that will have touched many a kerb. - previous owner or dealer could have lost the engine covers and decided to replace them before PXing/selling on. I just need opinions before I rage and accuse a reputable dealer. Am I looking for issues where there aren’t any?
  3. MPG improved after a hydrogen carbon cleaning. 24mpg there 36mpg back. More traffic back too. Could be a coincidence though Outdoor temp sensor is connected by two spade plugs. Bodge job. Not sure why. No other sign of potential crash damage apart from the fact the air box is snapped from both mounts. Weird!
  4. I've just realised my airbox is snapped at both brackets so I need a new one anyway. Might as well drill it out before fitting!
  5. Highly unlikely, to be honest. Unless there’s a reason to do so they don’t tend to pick over with a fine tooth comb. I know people who have crashed with undeclared induction kits and it’s not been mentioned. Illegal LED headlight bulbs, even ECU remaps (which I do not condone)! If it can give a nice whoosh without impacting performance I’d do it. If they can come stock with a hole on the F then surely it can’t hurt?
  6. excellent I’ll go look for it today and see if I can wiggle it back to health. I’m having it carbon cleaned today as well. It’s done very few miles over the past few years so I’m guessing short journeys. It might not do a thing but it will give me peace of mind!
  7. Right. I feel like a muppet even asking this, but is there any argument for drilling a hole in the air box being a good idea? My immediate thought is no. It’s just welcoming hot air into the engine. Stupid idea. BUT. If the F sport comes like that at stock, without a separate feed surely there’s an argument that it shouldn’t negatively impact. Is it worth the gamble for a bit of noise? Can I learn from someone else’s mistakes/achievements? Thanks in advance!
  8. That’s not the chrome flaking it’s a black strip of wrap around the chrome! Could still be plastic though I’m not sure
  9. I’ve noticed the window trim on my car is degraded and peeling off. It’s the one messy part of another wise very nice car. How would I go about fixing or replacing this? Thanks!
  10. Thanks so much for the replies. Ive found a niggle! The ambient temperature sensor is very wrong. It’s been telling me it’s -16 degrees Celsius outside. Is it common for these to go wrong?
  11. Oh, and what MPG are people getting? I’m at 23mpg since getting it (suburb driving). Is this normal? If so OUCH!
  12. I have a singing brake too, so perhaps they just need bleeding and the pedal will get a little less stiff. I agree, I like a bit of travel before locking on too! This has eased my mind a lot. I’m going to give it a while to let any niggles present themselves before I spend any money on head units, or any mild modifications (I thought the SR style spoiler, wind deflectors, and the mesh type grille WITH a badge would look nice!) Thanks!
  13. Thanks! I’m hoping to have this car long term so I should stick around. Glad you’ve said that about the brakes! Mine are probably fine then. Im looking to upgrade to a head unit that can do Apple car play, use Waze etc ideally. I just want to make sure the head unit won’t impact on the sound quality. I’ve been told the MS kit is quite desirable so I don’t want to ruin the experience! Battery has been changed, as have the water pump, exhaust, brake disks etc. hopefully this will keep it ticking along 🙂 Thanks!
  14. Hi all, I've just picked up a lovely, well maintained but high mileage (140k) is250 after our car was stolen at the weekend. I’m obviously worried about the mileage but it has 6 months warranty and of course a 30 day rejection period should anything go wrong It had 1 previous owner (so i’m #3), very good condition visually, and I’m pretty happy with it so far. The one thing I have noticed is the brake pedal seems pretty hard. I’m used to feather soft bmw brakes but with this there seems to be a bit of push before they engage. The dealer suggested it’s just a Lexus thing so I wanted to ask some experienced owners! My second question is about the the head unit. Is there a decent head unit I could upgrade the standard nav to to modernise it a bit WITHOUT compromising on audio quality? I have the MS sound system so I don’t want to ruin that, but the sat nav is clunky and I don’t own any CDs! Finally, is there anything I should be looking out for in a is250 of this mileage? It seems to run well, exhaust recently replaced, water pump done last year etc. I’ve just never had such a high mileage car before! thanks in advance CMcK.
