  1. Just a thought - could you install a battery isolator switch for when leaving the car for a week or more? I'm sure this could stop the battery drain, but would it affect the car's systems when you switched it back on? Be interested to know if anyone has done this. Thanks!
  2. Thanks for the replies - all very interesting, and good to know that (like all Lexus) it will take a high mileage. Think it's just a psychological thing really, I just like to see a small mileage on the odometer! Regards, Philip.
  3. Hi, I'm thinking of buying an RX400 hybrid, and have a budget of about 15K. At this price it seems like I could afford a lower mileage (35k miles) 2006 version or a higher mileage (60k miles) 2008 version. I was wondering which option is best - less miles or newer? Also is there a certain mileage above which it would be inadvisable to purchase? Appreciate your replies, Thanks!
  4. Thanks for the replies! Problem is - I will be leaving the vehicle unattended for 2-3 weeks as I work away from home. I have to say this has never been an issue with the GS450h, but I understood on the RX400h it was a different situation, which slightly put me off that option (although in all other respects it would seem to be the perfect choice!)
  5. Hi there, I have a 2009 GS450H which I think is probably the best car I have ever had - with one exception - the small boot. Now I am seriously thinking of selling, as although its OK in normal use, no way we will get enough gear for a camping holiday in! Just wondering if there are any ways around this such as roof bars / box which could be easily removable? Alternatively I was thinking about swapping for an RX400h of similar value, which would certainly provide a big boot, but I'm a bit worried about these due to the stories I have heard about them losing charge for the 12V battery? If anyone has any thoughts what I could do, or experience of putting roof bars on a GS450h could you let me know? Thanks, Philip.
  6. Yep, think I may be prepared to sacrifice a bit of performance for that V8 sound! B) I'm surprised that it makes a good noise though, as I believe the LS400 saloon with the 4.0 V8 is near silent. I take it the soarer has a different exhaust system then?
  7. Thank you for the quick replies! I have wanted a Soarer for a while, but was worried about rear seat access. A long while ago I had a MK.IV Supra TT, wouldn't have liked to put a babyseat in that! I currently have a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IV, which is a great car, but I'm thinking of changing to the Soarer for more refinement, and less running costs, as well as put the difference in cash into the mortgage! Now I just have to decide 2.5tt or 4.0...decisions, decisions!!!
  8. I am considering getting a soarer, but there is one important bit of information I need to know before considering a purchase. That is, would a childseat fit in the back seats of a Soarer. Also would it be a big hassle loading a toddler in and out of the back of the soarer. If any of you with kids have experience of this, please let me know! Thanks, Philip.
