  1. Thank you everyone for replies. Some cars do rattle a little on cold start up, although I don't know what's normal/ok, but I suppose a lot depends upon how loud and how much. Hard to know without hearing it. It was n't a rattle. When the dealer turned on the engine, it sounded more like a diesel tractor. If it was a diesel car, it would have been perfectly normal. In fairness it was cold. It was unexpected, as I remember those adverts with the Lexus engine and the stack of champagne glasses.....
  2. I am sorry this has happened to you. How things go, really depends on who you were insured with. You need to read the small print. What happens when a car is a writen off, do they cancel your insurance?. Let say you have a 12 month policy, and have 1 month left, before renewal, it is n't an issue. However, if you just renewed, you loose 12 months worth of policy cover. It depends on insurers. Idealy, they should continue the cover to the new car (or continue if you buy it back). It is a pain when they cancel the insurance, so you can't drive your car to see other cars and you can't borrow other people's cars. You become carless! Sadly, something similar happened to me. In my case, it was n't worth claiming, so I got it repaired myself, but I was asked to a new MOT.
  3. I saw a RX 450h. 10 years old, just over 70,000miles. When I got in, I loved the car. I was n't able to test drive. Rust on underside I was surprised by the amount of rust on the underside at the rear (if you zoom in). It was first registered in Scotland, so can imagine the salt on the roads don't help. Should I be worried? Should I look for a better example? Engine Noise When he stared up the engine, and popped-up the bonnet, it sounded like a really noisy diesel engine (may be it is cold 8C). Is this normal?. I had heard so much about how smooth engine is. So I was surprise by that. Car Service history The car booklet only had two service stamps (at 10k and 20k) at Lexus. However, I noted it had private number plates (which I don't have details of). If I ring up the Lexus dealer, how can they validate the mileage as authentic?. If I give the Lexus dealer the current car registration number, they might not have a record of it? I know people can buy car booklets on ebay and may be rubber stamps might not be hard to fake. There is a gap in service history and then again a service by previous owner 60k and 70k (those are backed up with invoice and stapled credit card receipt, so look authentic).
  4. Thanks for your help. I managed to get the download and a thousand thank yous to those who put the list together and the brochure update.
  5. I was contemplating the RX450h. It ticks a lot of boxes for me. Is there an equipment list and specifications somewhere?. There is a link from this forum to a PDF file, but that link is broken. It would have been useful to me as a potential buyer. Is a 2010 model adequate? or should I pay a little more to get a newer model due to improvement in equipment levels or facelifts etc.... Should I be looking for out a specific variant? I saw some RX450h come with sun roof and others models came with roof rails..... I note some come with a Mark Levinson audio. I do like my music. DAB radio is on my wishlist. I like the idea of a smooth comfortable car. Is Lexus service history important? Some seem to come with it and others not. I am also worried about buying a clocked car. Are there any tell tale signs on the Lexus or its true mileage?
