  1. I have moaned on this forum about finding my RX450h F Sport seats uncomfortable. I'm not that big but the inward squeeze from the seat side cushions causes my thighs to ache due to the inward pressure. Can anyone tell me if there is a difference in F Sport seats? Do they hug your body tighter than non Sport models?
  2. Well I fixed it (thanks Paul) by going into my phone's contact list and editing every number, dropping the leading zero on the numbers and replacing it with +44. The +44 numbers work ok in the phone. Now the car shows the call history and incoming calls with the right name attached. The infotainment system has certainly taken the shine off my ownership experience. You would think Lexus could have taken care of this. I'm sure some owners never fix this and will just live with it. The cars keep getting good reviews with no mention of the infotainment.
  3. When I receive a phone call from my wife the screen says unknown number although she is in the contact list on my phone and I can call her using the voice control. This situation applies to others in my call list. When I look at call history I see a couple of names which is what I expect but many more calls appear as just a number although nearly all are in my phone contacts list. The one unexpected thing about the calls appearing as numbers is they all start with the country identifier +44. The +44 does not actually appear on my phone and maybe it is this that stops it being a perfect match. Am I right to expect the system to display the name of the person calling if they are in my contacts list? Any info appreciated.
  4. I have finally got the internet connectivity in the car. For others who want to do the same thing I recommended this YouTube video. I found some things not in the same places as on this video but they were to be found on my screen
  5. I am warming to the car. It certainly drives like a dream and I am getting past the disappointments of what the infotainment does badly. I suppose I am learning not to expect it. The bum ache from the seats is not quite so bad so I'm hoping it will eventually go away. Because the car has such a quality reputation I never expected to have to overlook the issues I have moaned about. However the way it drives and the build quality is the ace up it's sleeve. I have a SIM only unlimited data deal on my phone with Tesco (O2) for £17.50 a month. I hope I'll get a similar deal when the contract runs out. Thanks Paul and Herbie for the advice.
  6. Thanks to everyone for the information supplied. Am I right in thinking Android Auto does not need the car to have internet connectivity because it uses the phone's internet and the phone is plugged into the system with a cable? If this is correct then it may have been confusing me when trying to understand what car internet connectivity brings to the party. I did realise that the car could get it's internet by by using a phone's hot spot WiFi provision. Thanks Paul for listing the features that the car built in system uses the internet for. (Fuel, weather, live traffic info etc)
  7. I am aware that my RX450h Sport has internet connectivity but I don't have an understanding of it. I have seen that I can locate my car on a phone app and I have seen that it is possible to pay for connectivity using Miracast but I don't intend paying for that when I have unlimited data on my phone. I have taken the step of connecting the car to my phone's hot spot but now what can it be used for? I have asked the car to show me the weather but it says Username or password is not correct. Try again. I don't understand what username or password it is referring to, or where to find them to correct them. In general what could this internet connectivity be used for? I hope some one can educate me a bit.
  8. I have thought of that but I would lose the effect of the heated seat in the winter. I am persevering hoping that my backside will either become used to it or the seat will submit to my bum. I'm a pretty average build so I'm surprised other people don't mention this. However it seems to be just me.
  9. Hi Ed I come to the RX from a Kia Sorento so I can't help comparing. As for muting audio being ridiculous, I am hard of hearing and I have a common problem for people who are hard of hearing. Any background noise makes it hard to hear what you are trying to listen to. So not so ridiculous. If your suggestion to move on was a cost free option I would be highly inclined to go that way. I may have to anyway because the sport seat continues to cause my hips to ache. It hugs my backside so tight it's like sitting in a wedge and the inward pressure eventually causes a nagging ache. I'll say it for you. Just get another Sorento.
  10. I've had my RX for just under a month and I'm trying to love it but as can be seen from my other posts here I think there are some disappointments. The latest may prove to be the worst issue for me. After making a few 2 hour journeys I am finding that my hips hurt and I have have a pain caused by the side bolsters digging in to my bum on each side. The constant pressure causes an unpleasant ache. I'm not that big, 13 1/2 stone, 190 pounds. When I test drove the car the seat just felt snug but now it just feels unpleasant. When I look down I now notice that the seat is hardly any wider than my backside and then there are the bolsters tipping in on each side applying inward pressure. There are some things that the car does very well but other things are disappointing. I am starting to think I have made an expensive mistake. The car keeps getting good reviews but I'm thinking that they are all based on short term trials that only look at the way it drives which is very good but other than that other things are glossed over.
  11. I am a new 450h owner (3 weeks) and as you can see from my posts here I'm trying to get past the niggles of the infotainment system, the cruise control overspeeding downhill and the audio system not muting for sat nav instructions. There is no doubt the car is a lovely drive and the fuel economy is shaping up well for a 3.5 litre car. However I feel annoyed that these shortcomings are there in a car with a quality reputation. I notice none of these things are mentioned in the many YouTube reviews I have watched on this car.
  12. I have noticed something recently. When I reduce the set cruise control speed while going down hill I can feel active retardation but then it goes away and the car is allowed to overspeed so I have to brake which knocks off cruise control. What an annoying omission by Lexus.
  13. Hi Paul, I can us the phone fairly well but today I put Smooth radio into my favourites and then said Station Smooth radio and it failed to recognise it. Just to try something else I said Station BBC 2 and it played it. I can see the system showing station names but when I say play them it says they are not recognised. I tried to say an address for the sat nav and I gave several versions of the same address before it worked. I'm hoping the frustration will go with familiarisation.
  14. I have had my Lexus RX450h for two weeks now and I have to say I am finding the infotainment system very disappointing. The mouse is awful to use and the voice control seems hell bent on raising my blood pressure. Tha car is lovely to drive but the media system is just plain difficult to use. I have seen many good reviews of the car but nothing is said about the media systems. It seems to offer facilities which are hard to make work. I am hoping familiarity will make these issues go away but right now I could make a list of disappointments.
