  1. If anyone decides to 'go for it' after reading this post, I'd love to know. As an oldie I prefer to use the built-in satnav as the screen is bigger!
  2. Here we go, then. These are the instructions from Lexus, plus my own observations as I did the reset. N.B. This will only work if you use the switch on the affected door, not the combined switch on the driver's door. * Ignition on.* 1. Open window fully and release button. 2. Press the window open button for at least 5 seconds, then release. (I heard a faint 'thunk' as the limit switch reset). 3. Close window fully and release button. (If, like mine, the window goes down again, start back at #1, but this time keep holding the button for 'close'). 4. Press the window close button for at least 5 seconds, then release. (I heard a faint 'thunk' as the window switch reset). 5. Silicon spray into channels of window frame. -( but this should only be necessary if the window motor is labouring.)
  3. I have to be careful not to tread on anyone's toes at Satnavishop here; I chose to download the update, and instructions on what to do were provided once I'd ordered and paid. Assuming you'd sent a photo of your current map data prior to order, there should also be instructions on how to install the update. It does say that it will take c.100 minutes, and that's what it took. There are also some reviews of this particular update and others which are worth reading. You may have to send another photo of the map update screen in order to get the install code. I'm 70+ and more used to working with tools than software, but I managed it by going slowly and following the instructions carefully. You can also check if you've succeeded by following #1. path as above.
  4. Usual apologies if this has been covered before ...... On a recent visit to Swindon I ordered some wiper blades to collect from Lexus Parts Direct, thus saving the postage. On the journey down, the O/S rear window was accidentally lowered and then refused to stay up again unless by small touches to the control. While at Lexus Swindon I boldly enquired if the Service Manager would give me the reset procedure. He willingly did so, and it works! If any other member/owner thinks it would be useful, I'll gladly give full details, maybe a 'How to'? BIG shout-out and thanks to all at Lexus Swindon!!
  5. And now, the moment you've all been waiting for ..... Just spent the afternoon installing the update and it all went according to the instructions supplied. As mentioned previously, I chose the update from Satnavishop. https://www.satnavishop.co.uk/lexus-13cy-gen8-sat-nav-map-update-europe-2022-2023-709-p.asp?page=1&_= but I suppose other sources are available. If you're OK to use Satnavishop, the procedure is: 1. Take photo of current map data. "MENU - SETUP - Navigation - Map data. " then photo. 2. Send to Satnavishop for confirmation of correct update. 3. Decide which option (download or post) you want. I have to say David is very prompt with replies to queries, and if an oldie like me can do it, I'm sure all you tech savvy folks will have no problem. I have NO connection at all to Satnavishop. Go for it! and Good Luck!
  6. At the risk of raining on someone's parade, my efforts over more than 2 years to fit an oem reversing camera that displays on the 'big screen' have failed. N.B. my car is a 300h Executive Edition so this may not apply to upper level versions! On the net I found a detailed account of a plug and play fitting, and removed the boot lid trim to find THE connector sitting there. Deep joy! As new cameras from Lexus were £250, and used ones weren't available, I located a company called Hushan in Taiwan who listed an OEM camera with the right part number for c.£100. I successfully negotiated the language and customs barriers; well done, me. When the camera arrived I found that the connector on this camera was completely different and would not connect to the one in the boot. DOOM! Then I bought a complete (damaged) bootlid with camera etc. Removed the camera and plugged it in. Nothing! When the car next went in for service I asked the Service Dept. To identify the connector in the boot and explained why. Reply was that this was the connector for the camera, but a lot more electrical bits would be needed, dashboard out, possibly a new infotainment unit, so economically unviable. Next I bought a connector adaptor from Ukraine (!) which piggybacks onto the back of the radio unit and includes a camera connector. To date I have not got this to work, and when in place, the MAP option on the menu carousel disappears! However, my son is a genius on all this sort of thing, and has the Carista software which he's had plugged into my car previously, so I will try to persuade him to have a go. However, he's very busy and lives far away. The temporary solution that does work is a basic eBay reversing camera connected to a wireless transmitter in the boot lid. Wireless receiver is hidden under the gearshift cover, and displays on a 5" screen mounted between the seat heating switches. But I still want to get a setup that displays on the big screen!
  7. Started using E10 when it was introduced, but noticed a 10 mpg drop in consumption, and the car felt more sluggish, so back to E5, unless it's unavailable and I'm desperate. Always use E5 plus ethanol inhibitor/preserver in all my garden machinery.
  8. I contacted David at Satnavishop, and he said he didn't know, which was honest. Still, if it's updated to 2022 it will be a big improvement on the current mappin, which is 07/2014. Waiting now for my shiny new USB stick to arrive.
  9. Think I'll be going with this one, as the pic looks exactly like the menu on my car. https://www.satnavishop.co.uk/lexus-13cy-gen8-sat-nav-map-update-europe-2022-2023-709-p.asp?page=1&_= Will report back on progress as and when.
  10. Thanks for this. There are two USB ports inside the arm rest. Which one would be used for the update? Meanwhile I'll see what I can out there that's suitable.
  11. Firstly, apologies if this topic has been dealt with before; as a newbie I couldn't see away to search the forum. My IS300h Executive Edition recently went for service at Lexus Bolton. As I'd noticed that the speed limits shown on the satnav weren't up to date with the many changes in my area, I asked the service manager if the database could be updated. I was told that a specific CD (later changed to SD card) would have to be ordered for my car, and that it would need to be installed by them at a cost of £250. Some research on the net indicates that the apparently OEM SD cards are readily available for £40 to £50, and they are plug and play. So far so good! On searching for the location for said SD card slot, the only info I could find was for the upper level models, where there is a pull-down flap below the CD player slot. This is not present on my car. So I'd love to know where the slot is on my car, whether the update is possible this way, and if anyone has successfully done it. Thanks, Oldcarman.
