  1. How'd you manage that, Was it right off the lot? Mine is under factory warranty until October of this year but i can't imagine they'd do anything more than laugh at me if i asked for a screen replacement.
  2. I agree, they must've cleaned it with sandpaper and toothpaste and finished it off with a wire brush. For now i'll live with it as my initial idea was to change the 7" screen with the 10.3".
  3. I'll attach some pics to show how bad it really is There are also a couple small chips right on the screen! i can't imagine what would possess someone to damage the screen that way considering it's not even touch screen. Fortunately this damage isn't really visibile unless it's in direct sunlight, and for the moment 80% of my drives are after sunset. I tried polishing the gear selector indicator as it was lightly scuffed but that didn't work and may've made the situation worse, unwilling to back down i also tried polishing the screen behind the drive mode selector in case it came out rubbish and lo and behold... it was. Seems polishing will likely ruin the antiglare and keep the scratches anyway. If i ever end up going to a professional i'll ask for a hail mary but in the mean time it's whatever.
  4. This is going to seem like a very stupid question, but would it be a good idea to polish the infotainment screen? My screen is fairly damaged, previous owner seemed to have not been careful around it. I figured a mild compound wouldn't be too aggressive and would remove a plethora of the damage. It's not a touchscreen, so there shouldn't be any olephobic coating to rub off?
  5. Figured you meant the 322F or 422F Im not familiar with the stock speaker dimensions, but i assume there are no clearence issues with these
  6. What JBLs did you swap in? Did you by any chance take some pics while installing? Thanks!
  7. I found the 6 speaker system surprisingly decent, in my experience all stock sound systems sound terrible but i found i was able to enjoy 90% of my spotify playlists. The BOSE system in my old S3 and the "Premium" Audio in my E are much better, this is missing some kick but nothing a subwoofer couldn't fix. I have some light, but equally noticable and annoying rattles in the door, close to the arm rest with certain frequencies. I'm close to installing sound isolation or wrapping all the wires in felt. Interesting, what speakers did you swap them with? Was it plug n play or did you DIY some mounting holes?
  8. The dealer ended up not touching up the chip as it was pouring out and i was in a rush, so they ended up giving me a container of paint instead I ordered a blending solution, some clear coat and decided to just tackle this as a DIY. Unfortunately, driving back from the dealer, a rock chipped my windshield, which i can't fix with the newly acquired paint
  9. I must've jinxed it.. i get in the car to go to the gym and im greeted by this error. Checking online it seems that it should resolve with a firmware update, however i was unsuccessful. Odd how it was working fine so far and then suddenly crapped itself without warning. I was able to return it as i was just within the month, but this was not ideal.
  10. Dell, I also wasn't able to find the adapter Ronnie mentioned anywhere online. I have a Carlinkit 5.0 bought for €70 on amazon (although i try to avoid buying from there) at a discount. You'll find some mixed reviews online but in my experience it has been working very well and am very happy with it.
  11. Hi Mike, Can you physically mount a 235 tyre on a 7J? Yes but this is dependent on the manufacturer. How the tyre fits on a wheel is a bit more nuanced than just looking at the size. I personally wouldn't do this, homologation issues aside (i assume the UK has approved sizes like we do in Italy), you're likely going to ruin your ride quality, throw off your speedo readings due to the diameter differences and it's potentially unsafe. If you absolutely have to go bigger, get some wider wheels too. If necessary, keep the F-Sports for winter tyres or sell them altogether.
  12. Unfortunately the "Midnight" trim doesn't have that option. I have to close the mirrors when entering the garage anyway so it wouldn't cover my use case 😁
  13. My main worry is substituting that crater with a blob of paint 😁 Figured it'd come out cleaner doing the whole shebang, albeit more complicated and time consuming. You're right however, if the touch up ends up being terrible i'll live with it or get it done professionally. Cheers
  14. Is "smart access" that credit card looking thing, or does that include the standard "keyless" key fob? You can hear the noise i'm referring to is in this video at 2:14. Allegedly other models (NX, RX etc) have a setting in the "Vehicle Customization" menu called "Lock/Unlock Feedback-Tone". It should be configurable, so if you don't want it you could always turn it off. I don't have this setting in my infotainment screen, i do have a power boot which does beep when opening/closing but i guess it's not the same speaker used for locking/unlocking. Sometimes i forget if i locked the car so it just would've been a more convenient way of making sure if it's locked 😁
  15. I understand why the boot capacity may seem poor, but in my case it could be conisdered "too much". More than fine for weekend trips where i don't need to load more than a few backpacks and other misc items. Length wise it seems about as long as my old S3, maybe just not as deep, but as Gary mentioned the flexible parcel shelf doesn't limit nearly as much as i thought it would. My main complaint is that my UX (maybe all?) doesn't have the audible feedback (beep/beep-beep) when locking/unlocking
  16. Last night post gym i came back to a nice surprise. Some meathead muppet took off a nice chunk of paint off of my passenger door handle. Replacing the handle seems excessive and expensive. Admittedly it's not the end of the world but my perfectionistic mindset is killing me . I asked my Lexus dealer for a touch up kit and was thinking about DIY-ing it with sandpaper, primer, the whole 9 yards. I have never done this before, does someone have experience doing this DIY and how were the results? If possible link the specific guide used Or should i just get this fixed professionally? Cheers
  17. Unfortunately i don't have the space to DIY it so i took it to my trusted mechanic. Apparently the entire system was gunked up, it's likely the previous owner put either low quality fluid or just straight up water. Was about a €50 job to clean everything but at least now it works.
  18. Not sure, will need to check if the invoice has a brand or whatever as the dealer i bought it from added 1L of fluid I gave the manual a once over and didn't read anything like that. If i need new jets that's a bummer but probably better than removing the tank and cleaning it. Car's not even 2.5 y/o
  19. I've found some topics related to this issue but mainly for other models. Washer fluid doesn't come out of either nozzle for the front windshield. Tried cleaning them by sticking a pin but nothing. What i know: - I hear the pump whirring and wipers are moving when pulling the stalk (except when the wipers are in "auto" mode, then nothing happens) - the rear nozzle sprays fine - i dont see any leaks under the car Any ideas?
  20. Also noticed this when i picked up my UX on saturday. Oil level on the dipstick was a bit higher than the "Hi" notch. Was also told this was normal. I checked the invoice and was billed for 4.3L of engine oil, which iirc is just about what this should take. i don't think they would add more oil than what was paid for...
  21. That's also a good idea, thanks. Any tips on how to find out the part number of the 10.3" screen for LHD vehicles? Kind of a newb at this 😁
  22. That's what i had initially planned, but Luxury trims in good shape in the year/mileage i was looking for were non existent, or they also had the 7" screen. Guess i'll just hope to find one parted out, or search for something aftermarket...
  23. After some consideration i ended up buying a used 2021 4WD "Midnight" trim UX250h instead of a CT200h. It felt more worth the money getting something a bit newer and with some more punch even if it meant paying a bit more. For me, this trim level had pretty much everything i cared about, e.g., heated seats, power boot, 4WD etc. The only downsides are the lackluster 6 speaker sound system (easy to improve with the addition of a subwoofer) and the sad 7" infotainment screen. Has anyone managed to upgrade their infotainment screen from the 7" to the optional 10.3"? I've found a few Android based HU that look very similar but they seem to be OOS and i'd rather go the "official" route. Is this upgrade possibile if i can somehow find an original 10.3" unit? Or order it directly from Lexus?
  24. I ended up chickening out for now, i don't want to go through the hassle of checking an accident vehicle if there are quite a few options on the market. Service history was always done in Lexus every 6-9k km so that's fine but the whole accident thing really throws any potential reliability aspects out the window. BTW i am in Italy. I started fancying the UX 250h so i might just splurge and get something a bit more modern, wallet be damned 😄
  25. Thanks for the insight, i do not intend to pay asking price (€19k) even if the PPI passes with flying colors. I know for certain it needs a oil change, battery and tires since they're both over 6 years old with 45k km. I intend on offering closer to €14k mainly due to the maintenance needed practically immediately and that accident vehicles are just not always worth the potential headache. That's if im convinced of the vehicle at all.
