  1.

    Hi All.

I'm Posting in here to get a few veiws on the IS250 SE auto head lamps they are useless i have taken the car back to the dealer to have them set but they seem so low you just can't see in the dark country lanes the coreners just appear out of nowhere with on coming traffic high beam which is good you can't use with out a few waved fists and other graphic signals.

Do others who own this car have the same issues and is there a manual way of tweaking them up a bit.

This is the wifes car and believe me she needs all the help she can get when driving (scares the crap out of me !!!!) i dont have the same issues with my IS250 Sport MM the HID are just that bit brighter and a bit higher i thought she was just being silly so i took her car out last nite and i have to agree with her they are down right dangerous.

    Any help would be appreciated

    Martin

This might sound silly but does the SE have self level headlights

The SE is the lightest car in the range

Try loading up the boot could be SE suspension setting that needs adjustment not the lights

    Do comparision below : V

  2. As I am relocating to the UK, I thought I'd do some research and comparisons between SA and UK.

Using today's exchange rate of 15.24 pounds to the rand,

A BMW 330i Steptronic in SA will cost R407,000-00 (converted 26,706). IN UK it costs 30,575 (14.49% variance)

A Audi A5 3.2 FSI Quattro will cost R467,500-00 (converted 30,675). In UK it costs 33,625 (9.61% variance)

    A Merc C350 A will Cost R432,000-00 (converted 28,346). In UK it costs 33,385 (17.77% variance)

    A Lexus IS250 SE A will cost R377,600-00 (converted 24,776). In UK it costs 29,637 (19.62% variance)

What's worse is that all the cars in SA come standard with a 5 year (lexus - 4 yr) maintenance plan and on the Lexus, the "multimedia packet" is standard and I haven't built this into the UK price.

If I was to trade my vehicle in here in SA, at max, I'd get about R288,000, that's a mere 18,897 pounds. What would I get if I sold my 2007 Lexus IS250 SE-L with multimedia pack in the UK?

    Interesting......

Why would you want to come to this country ?

Can't be crime / murder / robbery / violence / etc: that you want to get away from.

  3. :shifty: There I was on a lovely sunny day just having paddled down a couple of cogs to feel & hear the grunt from that beautiful V6 to pass a couple of cars when I thought 'ain't life grand'. My kids when they visit find an excuse to drive it, my grandchildren fight to get in the front seat (the reverse camera is "real cool"). Yes the Bridgestones are noisy but the Mark Lev takes care of that & the rear view mirror vibrates but only in time to the sub woofer. I write this as a retired 67 yr old & believe me when I push that little green start button I loose all my wrinkles & at least 20 years, so you see ain't life just grand.

P.S. Sorry if your reading this and you've got the diesel.

And even better when you knock off the safety and hit "ETC".

Only problem is forgetting its off and accelerating in gear 1 into ( Dougnut World ).

There's a lot of power in there for us older boilers.

  4. Since weve changed the batteries in our remote for the keyless entry, our car has started playing up majorly.

We cant get into the car without setting the alarm off - and thats by using the actual key and turning the lock (its the only way we can get into the car at the moment - even with the new batteries fitted).

Also i can have started the engine and set off on my journey only to have 'KEY NOT DETECTED' flash up on the dash. Bit worrying when you know it will cut out if you drive off without the keys actually in the car.

Last friday i couldnt get the car started at all as it wouldnt register either sets of keys as being near the start button!

This morning only the drivers door would open (with the alarm going on its second round) so i shut the door and tried to lock it and unlock it to get the rear doors open for the kids. WHen i shut the door it locked automatically with my keys still inside. It was only by fluke that i'd brought hubbys keys to the car with me that i could get inside again (yep alarm went off again) and get my own keys back.

Anyways, to cut a long story short i found myself at a LEXUS dealer in hannover at lunchtime, only for them to find no problem with the car. TYPICAL. So i drive all the way home get out and try to lock the car - only to find that the car wont lock with the keyless system again.

Has anyone else had similar problems? Or is it really just genuine fluke that this is happening?

Not had a problem with keyless until this weekend

My son has gone away on holiday so he has parked his car where I normally park.

Key system shut down completely being closer to the house

Decided my Wireless network was blocking key being only about 8ft from router.

Switched network off and all ok once I had reset key.

Parking on the road till he gets back !

  5. My 2007 IS250 SE-L's rear view mirror would not auto dip fully resulting in the need to push it out of the way

when following car's headlights were dazzling.

Lexus Hull changed it under warranty but now it vibrates on anything but smooth roads.

The after sales service manager drove it back to back with another IS250 and told me there was

no difference. I know the diesels had this problem but has anybody else had this on the petrol versions.

Lexus will order another for me if I'm not happy but there is little point if the new one will do the same thing.

The last time I had this problem was 30 years ago and the car had Morris Marina written on the back.

( We all make mistakes )

Mine Viberates when heavy bass on the superb sound system ?

"Hey" don't mock the Marina - I had two Marina 1.8 estates back to back - happy days !

  6. Since having my IS250 just over a week I've had loads of comments saying how smart the motor is, lucky sod etc etc.

Earlier today my boss at work was stood nearby and someone else came up to my desk to say nice motor.

My boss chirped in "it's an old man's car". He's got a Vectra. He has never once mentioned my new car.

So I was wondering what the average age of an IS250/IS220d driver is....

    Jealousy yet again !

I have had it all in the office

    Especially old mans car

Until they have been in it

Can't fault the sound of "SILENCE" afterwards

    51 by the way

  7. Shoggy asked "Why would Lexus consider Hybrid for the IS when they have targeted Diesel ?"

My dealer also said the diesel had had an upgrade earlier this year to "improve" things. he said if someone wants a diesel they will happily sell one to them but it was really aimed at the fleet market. Hybrid is the way Lexus is going with all its range apparently.

I was invited to a launch of the LS 600h

The Lexus GB Sales director said there was no plan for IS Hybrid for that very reason "Its The Reps Car"

  8. Collected my brand new IS 220d Sport this morning (the door sticker says 220SE!). Black with black interior.

Absolutely delighted. Surprised that it had a full tank of fuel, I probably paid for it in the delivery charge.

I had a sport diesel for a good test drive and was happy with it. Having driven other diesels I think this one is very quiet, and if it intrudes into the cabin the audio will blow it away. Having ordered the car, got mighty depressed with all the comments about fuel economy and 5th injector issues. Still my last car only gave me 20mpg so this has got to be an improvement.

The brochure goes nowhere near to explaining all the little toys including heated wiper elements in the windscreen.

So as far as day one is concerned, deep joy. Tomorrow it is getting the carnuba wax treatment. :)
