I've got quite a lot of surface scratches on the drivers bumper. When I rum my finger over them you can't feel the scratch. I've used Scratch X and then T-cutted it but I can still see the scratches it hasn'r worked. Any Advice? Also I'm going to use the touchup paint for a large scrape any tips? Cheers :zee:

Hi, I've had my IS200 serviced and the cambelt changed. It's got 90K on the clock. I was thinking of using Slick50 and cataclean. Has anyne used any additives and did it makeany difference? cheers

I've got an SE. I'm not sure if it is Chrome it looks black probably with all the dirt. ← Does anyone have a Chrome/Stainless Steel tailpipe they want to sell. I have a 2001 IS200, I don't want to risk the one from Halfords. Cheers Sunil

The end of my exhaust looks a bit dirty (I'm refering to the car and not me!!!) I'm looking on ebay and was thinking of getting one of those chrome tailpipe covers. Have anyone bought one of those? Could anyone recommend a place where I should get it? Can they do any damage to the exhaust? Does the chrome get dirty and peel off? Cheers

The lileage is 90,000. The belt has been changed but it's still at the garage as the mechanic doesn't know what caused it. My worry is it may happen again and very quickly. Any thoughts

Hi, Just been told my cam belt has been sheered in half!!!, although it's being replaced, the mechanic has no idea what caused it. My worry is that the same could happen again, any idea as to what could be causing the sheering eg pulleys tensioners, waterpump etc Any wild guesses as what could be causing it? Thanks in advance

I've used wonder wheels to clean the alloys and they came up a treat. I'm thinking if I rub a little vaseline on the alloys will be help with dirt sticking. I'm hoping it will create a barrier and then I simple wipe them......am I being daft?

Chaps, The car does have 90,000 with full service history but the last 3 were independent garages. I've been quotes: £180 inc VAT for labour £130 inc VAT for the Cam belt Kit (I'm assuming it's the tensioners etc) £95 inc VAt for the water pump which they insist should be changed. I'be been told that the cam belt is being held by a thin piece of belt. Does this sound about right? I said change the water pump if it's faulty or you think it's looking ropey but they kept saying it must be changed. They are going to start tomorrow so any advice is most appeciated. Thanks Sunil

Just been told my cambelt has "sheered" and the garage won't drive it they've pushed it out onto the forcourt. Does the Tensioners and pulleys need changing? Should this have been the reason for my rattly engine? Shall I get just the cambelt changed or the pulley as well? Thanks

Anyone interested in getting their Lexus serviced at an independent should look at Nationwideautovcentre. http://www.nationwideautocentre.com/services_servicing.asp Just take a look at what they cover!!! for my local centre been quoted £65 for the interim service (including parts and labour) £130 for a full service (including parts and labour) £165 for a major service (including parts and labour) There's a 10% voucher from their website. Just take a look at the PDF document that tells you what they cover and they give you a full report. I know they will use third party products but they said I can buy original oil and air filters and they will knock it off the quote. Is this too good to be true? Cheers

Why did you have to get yours changed?

The cambely cost £23 from lexus can I just give it to the local garage and get them to change it or does other parts need to be changed as well. Is there likely to be a big charge for replacing the belt as well? Cheers

its the bearing in the pulley that makes the noise ← if it is the water pump will the noise problem be sorted out? Will it have done any damage to the car?

Lexus in Edgware are charge £98 + VAT a hour. It's incredible. My fear is what happens if it's not the water pump what's a water pump got to do with an engine rattle?

Just been told that the water pump is the cause of my loud engine rattle!! Can this be right? what's a water pump got to do with a rattle in the engine? how do I go about getting the ecu reset? Does it have to be at a lexus garage or can an indementend do it? How much are we looking at? Thnaks Sunil

I fuelled up which I thing cost ne £55 and I've done £280 miles with just a tiny bit left. I might get another 15 miles if I'm lucky. I've just had a full service on it and specifically the air filter and fuel filters were changed. The engine seems really slow on take off especuially on 1st and 2nd could one of the cyclinder/valves (pardon my stupid question) be broken? My wife has also complained it's slow, I told her don't be stupid it's a 2.0 litre car but she's right. Thanks for the advice as always I really appreciate it.

I've been driving mainly combined but I'm only getting 20 miles pergallon. I drive like a granny and even allow it to free wheel when going downhill. What are you getting? Anything I can do to increase the MPG. Cheers

Thanks for the replies. I have no mods but the car has done 90000miles. I had the mechanic take off the top of the engine and he said it's the valves and tappets. Just trying to get a feel for it so I don't get ripped off. He charges £35 a hour. Wat do you guys think I shoud be looking at? Thanks

Hi The bumpers on my IS200 (Platinum Ice) have sctaches some deep, some shallow and some scuffs. The corner bumpers have also lost their shine. What you you recommend I use or do? Cheer
