Hi all. Just bought some roof bars for my IS200 and need to get a roof box to increase luggage space for holidays etc. Has anyone any particular recommendations of styles/brands of boxes you have found particularly good - any pitfalls to look out for? Many thanks.

Thanks very much for the info. This all started because I had 4 new Sp9000's put on by Lexus Guildford about 4 weeks ago. Didn't think anything of it until last weekend when I drove up a kerb to get out of the way of an ambulance. In the process I scratched the alloy and ripped a lump out of the sidewall of the tyre (it always happens when you have new tyres!!!!). I then put the spare on SP9000 which had a large rim of rubber to protect the alloy. This is when I looked at the new SP9000's and found they didn't appear to have the rim protector. They are made in Japan so at least they are the right one for the car! Just need to fork out another £100+ at some point to change the spare!!!! V Frustrating!!!!!

Hi all I have found two listings for the Dunlop SP 9000 tyre. One is shown as "Dunlop SP9000" and one as "Dunlop SP 9000 Lexus". Can anyone confirm that the lexus one has a wider sidewall that covers the edge of the wheel rim to protect it? Many thanks. :)

Debadged my IS200 and I think that it cleans up the boot lid and makes the rear end much smarter. Used a hot air gun to remove the Lexus and IS200 badges leaving the centre "L". I have debadged my last 3 cars and not regretted it - look how many manufacturers now offer a badge delete option on new car options lists!!!

If you can't find mineral spirits and alcohol, I can recommend the Autoglym intensive tar remover. I used to live in a flat where the allocated parking space was under pine trees. The car was forever being covered in goo which went solid after a couple of days. I found it was best to put a bit of remover on the goo first and leave for a couple of minutes. Then go back and apply more remover and start to rub gently and the goo would start to rub off. I did this on my VW Bora for almost 2 years with no effect on the paintwork. Now I have a Lexus, I bought a house with no trees in the garden!!!! Problem solved! Hope this helps.

Hi all I am trying to source a metal bracket that allows you to fit a phone holder to the dash of the IS200. The bracket fits in the gap between the edge of the radio and the dash so that you don't have to screw holes into the dash. The phone cradle is then attached to the bracket. I saw one on ebay a couple of months ago, but haven't seen one since. Any ideas where I can get them from? Many thanks.

Hi All I have got 4 reversing sensors on the rear bumper of my IS200. They are the big black plastic ones not the nice small colour coded ones. I am thinking of painting them. Is it as easy as using plastic primer and then painting? Has anyone tried this before? Thanks for your help.

Hi All The time has come for me to accept that my pride and joy is to be the family transport for wife and baby. I need to see if anyone has info on the following to help me make up my mind as to whether I should get an isofix child seat. Has anyone used the ISOFIX fittings for securing a child seat? Do they work well? What brand of seats have you used? Are the isofix fittings the same on all cars that state they are isofix? Your help is much appreciated. Many thanks.

Hi I have got a 2001 200 se, and as far as I know, the only way not to set the alarm is to lock the passenger front and rear doors by using the locking button on each door and then finally locking the drivers door with the key. Other members have spoken about pressing the key fob button twice to disable the interior sensor, but on mine pressing twice sets the deadlocks. Get the wiring checked out as there is a known problem with alarm wiring failure. My 200 had to have part of the wiring loom replaced to sort out false alarming. Hope that helps.

Hi Had a similar problem on my 2001 200se about 2 years ago. Problem traced to faulty wiring in the headlining near to interior light and had to be replaced under warranty. At the time the dealer said that this was known to have happened in other cars. There was no pattern to when the alarm went off - just random.

Hi. I've seen adverts for flash car wash, which may be the same thing. Apparently it uses de-ionised water for the rinsing the shampoo off, which means that no streaks are left on the paintwork etc. Not sure that it would beat a flexi-aqua blade and a good old chamois leather though!!!!!!
