  1. I cant recall as mine were being replaced under a warranty deal with garage. I think they may have been £125 each but I found Inchcape very helpful. Had to ring them to see if the garage were telling me porkies about delivery etc (long story)
  2. Your local dealer may not stock it but they can order you one ?? I got my last pair through:Name: Inchcape Nottingham Address: 406 Derby Road Nottingham Nottinghamshire NG7 2GQ Tel: 0115 942 1700 Fax: 0115 942 4489 Website: www.toyota.co.uk/inchcape-nottingham EMail: im@inchcape-nottingham.toyota.co.uk who were kind enough to offer a discount when prompted for one They will only deliever to a 'business' address as far as Im aware though - give em a try :mat:
  3. 'ere is everyone having the same probs I am, with the autotrader website? - get to the front page of autotrader and 9 times out of ten it locks me browser window. Ive knocked everyhting off thats running at the same time. e.g. Virus checker, firewalls and anything else thats running including all other browsers windows. Sometimes - when it feels like it it will let me use it but most of the time it won't. :duh: Nothing else is misbehaving on the old WWW.
  4. No question mate - go for it. Finding the exact spot would help and if the cover is in the same condition your case would be strengthened. Photograph it and also get estimtes for repairs. As a caring motorist you should report the incident for the reasons as above e.g. someone else may have done. But in any case the authority responsible should be informed in case the same fate befalls anyone else. (also shows goodwill on your part) Also have a good read of you insurnace policy and looks for words that include uninsured loss recoverey and legal representation - this sometimes is only in the event of you being sued, but the compnay may have the means to represent you. Are you a member of the AA or RAC - they have legal departments as part of your memberships. Also try looking at the your household insurance policy for any sort of legal representation. At the end of the day it will only cost you a phone call or two. Above all get the evidence gathered as soon as possible before the person(s) responsible have the time to get rid of anything incriminating. Put an add in the area paper for witnesses or others that may have suffered from this. In other words go for the gonads - the biggest thing you will be asked to prove is neglegence on somones part. Best of luck
  5. Speaking of car adverts - how do rate the new Audi one (the fish as part of the traffic)
  6. Does that infer then that post 02 models dont have paint probs? Thats the one big disappointment with my 99 that the paint seems not to be up to the job... :duh:
  7. I wonder if everyone might just put their locations in their details. I for one have seen a number of Lex in my area and would be interested to know if they are members etc. Mr admin person has been approached to see if there will be a way of searching on locations in the future. Could have all sorts of uses like mini meets - moving stuff about one member to another sort of thing. I know that there may be very good reasons for not disclosing locations but thats every individuals right. Just a thought....... :hocus-pokus:
  8. I hate to do this to you guys but the converstion of rear fog lamps for use to other than fog lamps i.e. into brake lights is an offence under the Road Vehicles Lighting regulations 1989 (extract from the act): as in may not be used in the following circumstances: Rear fog lamp (a) Used so as to cause undue dazzle or discomfort to the driver of a following vehicle. (B) Used so as to be lit at any time other than in conditions of seriously reduced visibility © Save in the case of an emergency vehicle, used so as to be lit when a vehicle is parked. And as if that was not enough the act also states specifically: No rear fog lamp shall be fitted to any vehicle so that it can be illuminated by the application of any braking system on the vehicle
  9. Have used Autoglym products for years on a number of cars and bikes. Ive also tried the MERs, Turtle Wax etc. But I always come back to Autoglym. Last car a black Saab and now the Kensington Green IS. I also use it on me Sunday car a Gold Jaguar Sovereign (which is going to be used as a wedding motor) It may seem expensive but like everything else in this world you get what you pay for. Overall I would say that its about as good as it gets and the rest just try to imitate its benchmark
  10. Whilst lexicon may have a point in that he considers the wording to be misleading, I imagine that most if not all of us can make up our minds before parting with £25. Lets face it the majority of us who are members have had enough nous to buy a Lexus and part with hard earned cash after long consideration. I have just joined gold but not exactly for the discounts alone. I have only had my Lexus since November and in browsing this site I have learnt more about the car and its faults and been given more assistance from the membership about questions that even Lexus cant or wont answer which had enabled me to get my wheels replaced on a 3 year+ car just for a start. Having been given enough information by people on this site to give me the informed ammunition I need to press my case. I have rarely experineced such a helpful bunch of people all with a common interest - and all of this was completley free and given in the spirit for which this club has been formed. I think £25 is nothing if it helps keep this site going for all our benefits. I have just ordered parts from Inchcape at Nottingham and 'told' them I expected to get 15% discount which they gladly granted me. I made no mention of gold memberships or anything else. So really I think we are all big enough to make our own minds up and I for one wasn't the least bit fooled by the wording of a suggestion to join gold
  11. ee by gum eck !! Well at least not that much - and when I join Gold after all the help I've been given on here - it will cost a little less :D
  12. They do spring but take it from me the glass does not always stay in one piece and I have just learned that it alone is 'kin expensive to replace :(
  13. Thanks for that Mat - at least its smashed at the moment so no fears of breaking it then...
  14. Anyone recommend a thread or other instructions for removing the old glass and popping the new one in please
  15. Just got back to the car in the supermarket car park AND someone had clumped the offisde door mirror and smashed the glass. Note left on windscreen as in 'sorry mate heres my address - bill me when you get it fixed' - NOT Anyway guys and gals: Cost of glass please and part number if anyone knows and a quick resume of how to get the old glass out and refit the new piece (IS200 SE 1999 AUTO) I haven't got a LEXUS dealer near me, but my usual garage is a spot on mob - so if I can help them out with part numbers etc and have an idea of the cost of doing the job :D
