  1. Rob, A few days have passed BUT I do have a digital pic of the unit and you can see where to put in the SIM-card...only question is how to post the pic in this posting....help anyone? Speedy J
  2. Mr/Ms Jones, The telephone central unit is built in in the trunk (see other photos in this forum). In this unit the SIM-card needs to be put in. So not in the phone in the armrest. And also you need to have a big sim-card, the card used in your regular mobile (just a small golded piece) is too small. A big SIM-card can be bought (well here in Holland it can, so i assume it aslo is available in UK) This descripton is about my own built in phone (Motorola) in a 95 LS400...hope you are helped with it... Greets, peedy J
  3. :D Haha I wouldn't dare call you a muppet, I will take the pic tonight and email it to you tomorrow. I will try to draw (I am a muppet in drawing...) an arrow towards the slot. Speedy J
  4. Rob, The big black box in the trunk looks like it is built up by two parts. A big one and on top of it a smaller one. The slot is on the small side faced towards you (faced towards back of the car) in the small one, at the bottem of it. Chek if that's the case, if you cant find i'll take a digi pic of it and send it to you. Good luck, greets Speedy J
  5. Furthermore, if it is the same problem it has nothing to do with your starter, that's for sure! J.
  6. Cenwesi, Your problem sounds similar to mine. I have a 95 ls and in the last few months it happened 3 times that my motor stoppd. Similar situation each time; after a long drive (highway) I leave the highway and brake to stand still. Normally the RPM drops to around 500 RPM (A/C on between 500 and 750). In these cases; the RPM needle drops till ZERO....and the motor shuts down (logical). Put the gear in N, start again and no problem, no hesitation (in my case). The dealer picked up the car, checked it completely (technically, computer, logs and so on) but couldnt find a solution. Maybe, they said, ih has something to do with some part of the fuel "system" which somewhere disturbes the fuelsupply or maybe something needs cleaning like Colin says. My dealer spent a day on the car and I know they are very strict and well trained / ecquiped.... Since october it happened once. If it is gonna happen more often or when it creates unsafety (no motor runing means no brake- or steering assist) I will have it picked up and checked again. Sounds like your problem? Coz I think I redue my chances of motor quitting by always have A/C switched on (i didnt have it on always, now I do) Greets, Speedy J
  7. Alain, I own a 95 LS with the same phone, built in the armrest as Steevee mentioned. Also the functions Steevee mentions are the same as on my phone/steeringwheel. If you want to have the manual PM me your adress and I will copy it and send it to you. I will have to check if my manual is in Dutch or English but translating it into english, if needed, wouldnt be much of a problem for me. In my car there is a telephone unit installed in the trunk, where I had to put in my SIM-card (so: not in the phone itself!), is this the case in your car too? Kind regards, Speedy J
  8. Hi to all, I am wondering if anyone can help me (for another LS-driver) get the serial number or model number of the pioneer cd-changer which belongs to the 1993 LS400. It is placed in the trunk of the car. It is the whole unit that is missing, not only the cd-cassette. So I would be glad to get the information.... Thanks in advance, greetings, Speedy J
  9. Hi to you all, My car will go to the dealer in two weeks. One of the things to happen is that I will have new tyres; Dunlop SP 2000 E (or something like that). I cant find any info on the net about this tyre. Does anyone have info (for instance testresults) about or experience with this tyre? Thanks in advance, Speedy J
  10. Fortunately I do have a manual so as long as we can help each other, right Flotsam ;) Ah well, maybe when an LS driver says goodbye to his/her belovered car he/she wants to keep the manual...I can imagine... My filter is also behind a panel at the bottem / behind (by the way is it bottem or bottom, I know one of them means someones behind. However I dont man thát!) of the glove compartment. Be carefull with opening the panel coz it might break if you are to rough. By the way, mine is a MKIII 1995 so maybe (regarding to Flotsam's system) the '90 LS place for the filter is the same as in the MK II, III and IV. Hope so, good luck, Speedy J
  11. Hi Jamie, I had GS300 mats in my LS400 for a while coz new mats were ordered and hadnt arrived when I picked up my car at the dealer. I found the GS mats not fitting in the LS400, yeah if you dont know better maybe, but they are a little too small for the LS I thought.... Greets Speedy J
  12. Strange, mine is a LS400 MK III too (1995). The belt is to be changed every 150000 km which is about 100.000 miles...So says the manual and so says the Lexus dealer. I never heard that time would be an issue but I agree...prevention is better (and cheaper ;-)) Speedy J
  13. Aha now I know what you mean...well, mine don't. But it is possible to close the windows from the outside by putting the key in the keyhole and switch it. Speedy J
  14. Congratulations Andy! I own a 95 MKIII which also has an (original Lexus) phone in the front armrest. I had problems making it work coz of the network on which the phone operates. I found one provider in Holland that supplies such a network (900/1800 over here but that is probably different in the UK;ask your dealer). I took my car there and they placed the SIM-card in the telephone-unit in the trunk. NB: Not in the phone itself in the armrest; a SIM-card fittes in there allright but that doesnt make the phone work!!! The telephone unit (in my car) is positioned on the bottem of the trunk, at the right side. You should stick your SIMcard in that unit somewhere. There is no extra SIMcard needed for the telephone in the armrest. Well, all of the above was in case of my car. I hope it can help you with making your phone (ahum, sorry, phoneS ) work. In the meanwhile; enjoy your buy! I own mine for 6 months now and it (she haha) is the best car I ever drove. Enjoy it every day, hope you will too! About the display, sorry cant help you. About the alarm; what do you mean by a total losure alarm? Cheers, Speedy J Holland
  15. @ Colin, What do you mean by idle speed with A/C off being too low? My LS400 III from 95 shows about 500 rpm when warm, in N or D with A/C switched off. I assumed a low idle speed was a good sign. Do you disagree? And what about the 500? Thanks, SpeedyJ PS My LS does have air suspension, was an option here on the LS400 III over here (Holland)
