  1. UPDATE; Just spoke to my garage, fault codes showing coil 1 & 2. But part and parcel is changing all the plugs at the same time, for warranty purposes. Having a flush, oil and filter at the same time. Looking like £350 all in. Which ain't the end of the world. Thanks for the help.
  2. Coils and plugs have a service life of 120,000 so they were changed as part of service, with genuine parts. At the garage now, should find out this soon whats up. thought process is starting to go towards injector as it seems to be more of an issue under load.
  3. Hi all got an 05 GS300 (MK3) 124,000. plugs and coils were changed at 118,000, at the time one coil failed and was replaced by lexus (before i owned it). Intended to go to the shop today, got to the junction at the end of the road went to pull out and began to misfire, engine was warm. no warning lights came on. Pulled over as soon as i could, turned off and back on hoping to clear it, still there. turned round to head home, still no warning lights. Got about a mile towards home and then the VSC and engine management light came on, but only between 1500-2500RPM. Managed to coax it home, checked the basics (oil water petrol), got the engine cover off to check all the connections to the coils and plugs. Also checked all the fuses to the EFI, ING and INJ points. all seem fine. Having looked through the forums can only find VSC light issues but with no mention of misfires, anybody have any idea what could cause any of this? half expecting failed coil pack or injector. On another point in the top fuse box by the battery i noticed that all the ABS fuses were not were they should be, looks like they have never been there, any clues? KR Ben
  4. Hi tom, I bought a GS300 a few weeks ago, and to be honest i wish i would have got a 430. the 300 uses oil like there is no tommorrow, just had a s/s custom exhaust done for it and brakes all round. the alloys always look crap because of the poor painting from factory. and the laquer always flakes on the paint work. Buy the GS430 and make sure its got good service history with a recent cambelt. Hope that helps Ben
  5. Is it when the shade is closed or open? Ive really struggled with the opening and closing sequence with mine. Pressing close to long will open it up vertically, and if you dont get it just right when you close it from fully open it sits slightly lower than the profile of the roof.
  6. Hi, So after owning my GS300 for a month, the center silencer exit pipe has developed a terminal hole in it. Only one option (after being quoted £955.16 +VAT for the centre section from lexus lincoln) is to have a custom stainless cat back. How have you got on with the system after running it for a couple of months? is it that much different from the stock systems? KR Ben
  7. Hi peter, Just bought a '05 GS300 with 119000 on the clock. You are right about the quality and Spec of the car, the equivalent Merc or BMW would be about £2-3k more. Ive come across the problems with the piston rings aswell, and mine is using alot of oil at the moment but i did find a bit of advice regarding this, First being a really good engine flush/ Terraclean (donno if you have that out there) and changing the oil from 5w-30 to 5w-40. Apart from that i cant fault the car, with maybe the exception of a couple of crap repairs from previous incidents. getting serviced beggining of next month then going to do a run to Germany in it. Exhaust and CATS can be expensive and custon stainless exhaust are cheaper. Hope that helps. KR Ben
