  1. Bad ground at battery side will caused alot electricals problem or damage. The electrical items will act like fuses to the battery when resistance build up at the battery's cable connection. A body ECU control all doors lock/unlock near the glove box.
  2. Hi Gill, The battery issues may be caused by old rusted battery Negative cable's chassis connection which located deep under the battery tray.
  3. It could be shock absorber and/or the top mount. I learned from this post at #52 : http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/58984-does-your-is200-have-a-rattle-knocking-suspension/?p=671125 OR #77 fixed the noise by replaced/refurbed slide pins http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/58984-does-your-is200-have-a-rattle-knocking-suspension/?p=736044 http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/69693-osf-nsf-mystery-knocking-noise-problem-solved/?p=736042 Both problem are hard to find from outside. Hope you find it soon!
  4. Hi Lee, shock absorber??? Why not ask the garage (you just been) what went wrong and how much to fix (part+labour)?
  5. Hi wayneyboy, I am new here too. I agree with you Is200 "drives like a dream" I think maybe engine breathing problem. Check breather pipe or PCV valve http://www.shoarmateam.nl/upload/Lexus/IS200+IS300/manual-is200/Emission%20Control%20System/m_ec_0004.pdf
  6. Hi Rich, I noticed that Pollen/cabin filter not on your lists. But it is worth to check it too. You can check it yourself to decide change it or not. Normally replace it every 2 years. It located behide grove box above fan motor. I personally change it every year because it is quite important to the air I breath when windows closed.
  7. I think I will change the oil + oil filter and air filter only. I will check them too: Check AT oil if your is AUTO transmission. Check engine coolant , replace it every 3 years
  8. Worst case scenario is front lower arm worn. At 2011, renew both L/R , only 26K miles on clock (2005 RX400h SE model)
  9. Colin: I don't want to restore it because I think the original connection allow electric noise / interference from the engine block to the chassis. Steve: Thankyou for point out the important about earth points. Toyota/Lexus hiding it so well under the battery tray
  10. My IS200SE is year 2000 model. Recently, it take me long time to find where the battery negative-post to chassis connection. I want to find it out to check connection good or bad. First: I can’t find it. I only saw one heavy lead is connected between battery negative-post and engine block. Later: I found the connection until I took the battery and the battery tray out. It is a L shape metal clamped to the heavy lead to engine block on one side , bolt to the chassis on other side. The connection is bad after 15 years. Copper wires show corrosion at clamp side and bolt rusting the other side. I don’t like this kind of connection sharing. It maybe for cost cutting. Fix the connection problem: I isolated the L shape metal clamp by electric tape. Then I replace it by a new lead “25mm2 (#4 AWG) AUTOMOTIVE CABLE” connected between battery negative-post and chassis. After the fix, engine run better. Also, electric window/seat etc... move faster and better. Very happy after this :)
  11. Hi, Check earth wire connected between engine block and firewall. Check the engine ground points. 2 of them connected on top of the camshaft cover. I have no idea why they connect there because a gasket between the cover / camshaft engine block . So only 11 bolts provided earth path back to engine block. Think about it when they all rusted. I think it is a not a good engine earth locations. I did a quick fix by connected cover/block by copper tube.
  12. My IS200 owner's manual printed 'The outside rear mirror heater will operate while the ignition switch is "ON" Maybe same as IS300. or You can check if your IS300 had a "15A MIR HTR" fuse installed at passenger side , left kick panel fuses box.(left side under the grove box)
  13. May be my internet too slow for me to signup member 10 years ago. :D Recently , I fixed some of the car electric because of the age of the car. My IS200's engine / driving experiment improved after that. May sharing it later... yuen
