  1. I always set mine on lowest setting on previous vehicles otherwise it used to shut down when I had heated seats on etc in winter - never had an issue with starting after parking
  2. I got a dashcam after a woman reversed into me while I was stopped and claimed I ran in the back of her - took me 18 months of fighting until she backed down - she should of been done for fraud but nothing happened to her On the PHEV forum they remove dashcam footage if you post it I've caught a few incidents over the years but thankfully not needed to use them yet This clip was just posted on a LR forum I frequent - MUTE THE SOUND https://youtu.be/YitRBrokzhI
  3. Haven't had time to wash it yet but will be doing it before weekend and report back
  4. Now I've checked in the sun light looks like scratches to bumper, wing and bonnet from impact Will have to see if they'll polish out
  5. My Mitsubishi has a dented bonnet from one of those pigeons - happened about 3 months old - guess my Lexus just wanted to beat the record at 2 weeks old There's an estate near us where they run shoots and breed pheasants for that purpose - most of the little b*+@#*s appear to make a run for it and end up as roadkill on the passing road - I lost a headlamp on a Discovery some years ago and a friend did £1000 of damage to a Mercedes I have left many skid marks in and out of my vehicles on that road - we've nicknamed the stretch death alley
  6. The RC is the first vehicle I've owned since I can remember where tyre roar on course tarmac has been irritating and swmbo pointed it out too - and she's never wrong - on anything I appreciate an increase in noise is to be expected on course tarmac but this vehicle it's like being in a LR Defender It's not the end of the world though as it's a fantastic vehicle - I just thought there would be better sound proofing or perhaps different tyres might solve it
  7. Good to know - definitely considering replacement with alternatives in future
  8. We did a 24 hour test drive before taking plunge but didn't plan a proper trip on different roads etc so it's good this weekend trip confirmed we made right choice It's a superb tourer but still feels sporty and planted if you want some fun
  9. Just returned from a 400 miles round trip this weekend to visit family in Scotland and first proper test drive of my new RC On board computer read 48 mpg at end of trip mostly 70 mph motorway with some country roads at start and end of each leg Suspension and comfort were excellent - certainly better than my Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV and previous Discovery Sport - possibly as good as my last Range Rover Sport Starting to open her up overtaking and it's good to have some power once more as well as a pretty sweet engine/exhaust soundtrack imho Now done 500 miles and no regrets - love it Did have a heart stopping moment as we got near home when a kamikaze pheasant came from nowhere and hit front corner of wing/headlight at 60 mph - thankfully no signs of damage but I don't think that pheasant survived
  10. Just returned from 400 miles round trip this weekend visiting family in Scotland and like Tony I found tyre noise on course tarmac awful with fitted Dunlop tyres Love everything else about the RC though
  11. Just fitted a Thinkware F770 dual camera and it was an absolute PITA so thought I'd share my findings as it may help someone else! The cover to top of windscreen/mirror housing slides down towards dash to remove if you are hiding cables like I was - don't pull it or you will break the lugs WHO THOUGHT IT WAS A GOOD IDEA TO FIT FUSEBOX UPSIDE DOWN IN FOOTWELL Underside of glovebox area is removable which is essential - took me a while to realise working upside down and getting nowhere fast There was an empty fuse slot LH side marked on attached photo which is permanently live so I used that for parking mode supply The switched supply turned out to be difficult as nearly everything I would normally use ie aux outlet and radio were constantly live at fuse but not at appliances - in the end I was able to piggyback off S/HTR F/L which is only live when ignition live ie engine/EV mode Negative ground - I loosened bolt to bottom R/H side of glovebox and tightened it again after inserting forked terminal I had planned to do a photo guide but it was so difficult I lost the will I'm afraid - always done these on big suvs never a cramped sports car - I will take some pics when I get a chance if anyone would like anything explaining further
  12. Sorry I didn't see any - can you point me in right direction please
  13. Unfortunately I don't do facebook but I will look on website - dealer was supposed to be contacting tech support but have not come back My phone is mirrorlink compatible but it's just not connecting and the screen in car looks greyed out
  14. I'm no further forward on setting up mirrorlink - dealer hasn't been able to help either Is anyone using this feature
  15. Ah - sorry I thought you meant the Lexus - I'm not very knowledgable on Beemers but I do know it's a well known design flaw and scumbags can access obd this way and disable alarm/programme key, etc Double locking is usually two presses of the fob lock button or keyless sensor on door to deadlock doors - ie prevents ability to open vehicle by breaking windows and unlocking - although some manufacturers it's 1 press to confuse matters
  16. Sorry to read above posts about thefts Richard & Bernard - were your vehicles double locked - I thought this stopped doors opening from inside through broken windows?
  17. It just keeps getting better I used 3 day free insurance on collection and been shopping around for good deal - result only £70 more to insure the RC and the Mitsubishi together on multi car after discounts and £100 refund from my old insurer for unused months up to xmas I have used no claim bonus on the Mitsubishi but have none yet on second vehicle as my previous bonus has lapsed
  18. Oh and keyless is still more secure than using buttons on fob from my research and forum discussions The only thing more secure is going back to a good old fashioned key but that will never happen now
  19. Again good points - since ditching the RR Sports which were the most stolen vehicles according to the press I have worried less I couldn't see anyone queuing up to steal the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV I have disabled the spare at home and will do it to the main key when I remember because it's easy but not going to lose sleep over it - it's just a nice simple feature that deserves a pat on the back The RC got me worrying again but agree it's not in the same league to them - just to me
  20. I get what you are saying Peter - it is an argument I've heard before Most thieves are after a quick easy job and nothing is easier than taking a keyless luxury car using a £80 device bought on eBay The type that resort to violence are usually stealing high value vehicles to order and will take it whatever you do Disabling my key is easier than fitting a disklok or using a fob guard so I'm happy Lexus came up with something LR are still working on after 7+ years
  21. http://www.fleetnews.co.uk/news/car-industry-news/2017/08/10/thieves-target-keyless-entry-cars-with-relay-attack To protect against this you can place keys in tins at home or a Faraday pouch available on amazon http://www.foxnews.com/tech/2015/10/24/why-should-wrap-your-keys-in-aluminum-foil.html Lexus is the first car I've owned where disabling key is option to protect against this
  22. The thieves intercept the signal from the fob by using a device to boost the signal to the vehicle and drive away I've just tested it and you can't open the doors using keyless after disabling the fob People I know have lost brand new Range Rovers worth over £100k because of keyless attacks
  23. Got you now Page 157 in my handbook - This should secure against relay attack method used to steal keyless vehicles
  24. Are you asking how they're stolen or how to disable the key
  25. Coming from LR ownership I am painfully aware of the problem with keyless thefts and have used fob gaurds and disklocks to protect my vehicles in recent years so I am very impressed to read in the handbook you can disable this when leaving the vehicle via the fob and reactivate when you return - Brilliant
