Is200 Not Revving Properly

Hi everyone, I just bought a 2002 is200 sport which drove perfectly when I bought it but I noticed it is not revving very well. If I floor it in neutral it only revs up to 3500-4000 then backs off even with my foot still down...

I had the car scanned but no faults were recorded although since I've had it scanned the engine management light has come on.

I've replaced the throttle body but has had no effect at all on the drive.

Anybody have any clue what else could be causing this problem?!

Got it scanned again since engine light was on.

showed a 171 and 174 code.

Mechanic translated that as engine running too lean.

He advised to change the throttle body again as he thinks the one i got was also a dud,

although the car was behaving the same as it was before i changed the throttle body which leads me to believe that something else is causing this trouble...

Anyway... Yes indeed those codes are related and normally come together. It is indeed to lean (too much oxygen detected)

Normally this points to a dirty MAF sensor but as the 200 doesn't have a MAF sensor it can't be that lol.

Possible cracked vacuum or PCV line/connection Faulty or stuck open PCV valve Failed or faulty oxygen sensor (bank 1, sensor 1) Sticking/plugged or failed fuel injector Low fuel pressure (possible plugged/dirty fuel filter!) Exhaust leak between engine and first oxygen sensor

That's the info I have on those codes^ in my obd2 code book thingy lol. Good luck :)

Guys I got another scan today and I've been told the lamda sensor in bank 1 is showing a fault. Am I right that there is 2 sensors for banks 1-2?. Also does bank 1 cover cylinders 1-3 or 4-6?. Thanks

So I guess going by the previous codes, it's the bank 1 sensor 1 lamda sensor that has failed. Is this the one that is visible to the left as you look in the engine bay?

For anyone reading this with similar symptoms just to confirm the problem has been resolved with a second hand catylytic converter. I replaced the exhaust manifold which has got 2 built in cats. When I peered in one of them, it was clear the insides had broken apart and blocked the cat.

I still have the engine light on but car drives perfect now. Thanks for all the help guys!
