First Lexus

Recommended Posts

Hi, I've just brought my first lexus, is200 and couldn't be happier. Just a couple of bits with it so far, engine management light came on saying (coolant temperature low...) but I'd driven at least half hour distance. Also the orange in the front headlamps can it be removed so they are just clear?

What's the actual fault code?

Sounds like your coolant temp sensor has gone. This means the car can't tell when it's at optimum operating temperature therefore it's unable to go into closed looped fuelling. Your mpg will suffer as it'll run rich because the car thinks the engine is cold. Running rich for a long time can also lead to further problems such as the catalytic converters dying.

Yes that's exactly what it said about the close loop. So it needs a new temp sensor? Easy to get to? Expensive?

And thought that'd b the case with the lights, hate splitting them smell in the over afterwards never goes away haha.
