Drivers handbrake Stuk off in "Dust Cover"

Hi Everyone, wondering if you can help me.

So I had my lexus for about a year or 2 now, and well my drivers side handbrake hasn't been working and has been stuck off.

so when I yank the handbrake it isn't holding, or doing anything for that matter. I replaced my shoes and managed to get it unstuck it worked for so long but has came stuck again, wondering if anyone has had this problem before ? If they did how did you fix it ???

So just to clear up what part I am talking about the handbrake cable comes from the cover into the back plate, there is a part just before the back plate that the handbrake goes into, this can be removed but doesn't look like you can remove the hole brake cable from this part. I was thinking of cutting it somewhere along the line and well putting a connector block or similar to hold it in place, and drill out the part to make the hole bigger. What do you guys think ?

Thanks
