Hi,

My first forum post -so hopefully this isn't a daft question.

I have a good insurance quote for my first LS400, ( from Royal Sun alliance)but they need the vehicle to have been fitted with a CAT 2 immobiliser.

Does the std anti-theft system cover this spec?

Does anyone have any recommendations for insurance?

Cheers for your help.

Something called "Thatcham Approval" was introduced about 1996 for alarm/immobilisers and some insurance companies insist on this. Sadly, the pre 1996 Lexus standard fit alarms/immobilisers are not covered.

2 options...go and buy one...... go to a different insurance copmany.

If you buy one, it has to be professionally fitted and a certificate issued which then has to be forwarded to the insurance company.

I ended up going with Direct Dial Insurance and are ok!!

No daft questions here... only daft responses :whistling:

Are you after comprehensive cover? I only have 3rd party for mine but given the cost of fitting the approved units and the discount you then get wasn't worth it for me.

I used a website that I saw here on one of the old insurance threads,

http://www.moneysupermarket.com/insuranced...t.asp?Source=MS

and found a reasonable deal.

Good luck.
