Dvd Hack - Working Just Partly

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm new to this forum, just bought a second-hand Lexus and been doing some basic research. Apparently the previous owner had the DVD hack partially completed as I can 1) enter destinations into nav, 2) change MP3 folders and 3) dial phone numbers while moving. What I can't do though is to play movies on DVD without the parking brake being engaged - which is fortunataly the least useful of the bunch but still can come in handy when a fellow passanger wants to watch a movie on a long-haul drive. Is it possible that the hacking was incomplete? Without studying the various hack guides in too much detail so far (would need a technician to pull this off anyway) my naive thinking was that all the locks would be switched off with just one wire?

Thanks

David

Hi David

It could be thet the previous owner just installed a new map CD. The latest map CDs allow you to enter nav destinations and change MP3 folders when driving. You can also dial numbers when driving (speed dial numbers only - not through the phonebook). If that soulds like your car, then I think it might just be a new map, rather than a half-completed DVD hack. Maybe check the year of your map DVD on the ML screen first to be sure?
