  1. I am looking to but an IS200, and just wondering about the advantages/disadvantages of buying an altezza. The main ones I can think of are parts would probably be harder to source/more expensive, the insurance would be more expensive, there are usually less extras and I would presume finance is much harder to get on an import. These are just assumptions, i'd apprecaite some advice.
  2. I'm looking for a genuine IS200 SE or Sport for about £7k, anyone have one to sell pm me, thanks.
  3. Thanks Chris was a big help, it does have a diagnostic port under the sterring wheel above the pedals, if anyone could look at the following page and see if they can match it to any of the diagrams I would be eternally grateful. http://www.digimoto.com/which_of_the_three_obd.htm Thanks in advance to anyone who helps, can't wait to get my lexus, :).
  4. Must appologise for not looking at the pdf file before posting my previous message, was actually downloading adobe reader as I just changed the OS on this PC.
  5. oops, I believed the tinted glass and alloy pedals were standard in the se, looked in glasses guide checkbook for the specs, I actually not so keen on the two-tone steering wheel. Had no idea about the others, I know i'm going to look a fool for saying this, but isn't lsd the inspiration for the 60's? I now really want the sport, is the navigator based on the se with satnav?
  6. Thats what I was thinking, and I love toys, 120k car should be fine, and I should be able to get a sport for £7k. Although from what I believe there isn't too much different from the SE to the sport (spoiler and exhaust tip?).
  7. I would do, but won't the car be waterlogged? IS200's were not made for driving underwater by sponges, amazed you got 43k out of it. 9.5k is a little too much for me right now, even if it was supercharged with 200 miles on the clock.
  8. done searches all over the place, but theres not too much information. The OBD-2 can do 1/4 mile stats, translate any error messages and clear the engine warning light amongst other things. The equipment only costs about £70, but its £70 down the drain if the IS doesn't support it.
  9. Have been looking, seen a few nice ones, just wondered how important the mileage is, if i'm prepared to put up with nearly 100k miles I can get a sport or navigator, otherwise i'm stuck with the S.
  10. I have about 7k to spend and wish to get an early IS200, whats your opinions of the best spec to go for, higher spec and higher mileage, or lower spec and lower mileage? Anything to worry about on an older engine and how about imports are parts easy to get? I'm looking to mod the car eventually, but as i'm no mechanic it'll be mostly cosmetic at first.
  11. Just changing my car for an IS200 and I will be swapping my In-Car PC to the lexus. I want to put diagnostic software on the PC and connect it into the cars electrics. This is easy to do if the IS200 supports OBD-2, but I can't find out one way or the other. Does anyone know if it is, and if its not, does anyone know how to connect diagnostic equipment to the car, and what can be read from it?
  12. I actually do a windows based touch screen version of the same design, together with gps, 5.1 surround sound through the car speakers etc etc. Also use OBD-II equipment to take readings from the engine, including 1/4 miles stats, error messages and other statistics whilst driving. Anyone know if the lexus is200 is OBD-II compatible? Can't find info anywhere on it.
