  1. MOT doesn't cover speedo/instruments so no problem there. Personally I'd not be able to live with a lexus without the dash working. Shame about the BMW , but hope alls well and you like it!!
  2. well done on buying your lexus. I've had mine for 6 weeks (1994 M) and really love it!! I am an MOT tester by trade and can honestly say they have far superior build quality to just about anything else on the roads.. The sheer quality and superior ride etc , not to mention effortless V8 power will cost you only about 5p per mile more than an average hatchback shopping trolley! Its honestly worth every penny!
  3. Not sure about the throttle but it all sounds about right. The paint treatment is a lot of old hype!! Its basically a decent wax which anyone cando themselves-apparently they cut it back with G3 (used with plenty of water) or similar (not T cut as it contains ammonia which dulls the shine) which gives a "clean" surface for the wax to go onto.
  4. I have noticed on my recently purchased 94' LS400 that the passenger side back door and back bumper lower trims don't quite match the grey on the front door! I understand these are NOT painted but plastic finish-the ones on my car don't seem to be painted. Could it be that a panels been replaced in the past and the colour variation is due to differant batches? (the car has no eviendence at all of accident repair) The car is a very dark metallic green (looks black) with dark silver bottom panels. are there differant greys listed by lexus-or could it be the plastic ages like UPVC window frames? Anyone had experiance of this???? Many many thanks
  5. I'm new to lexus ownership but am fairly competant with the spanners! I have a 94 Mk2 with 106K , with a fully stamped lexus history (no reciepts though) The cam-belt was done at 61K back in 1999 and the discs don't look old either. I've always changed engine oil/filter at 3K on every car I've had and will do on this one too! how often should i flush the coolant and transmission fluids? Are there any other "service" items that lexus require over and above a more humble car? I've also read alot about the LCD screens going dark-quite a few i looked at had this-as mine are 100% OK is there anything that canbe done to keep them that way? Can i wait for the cambelt change to 120K bearing in mind its 6 years since the last one and I'll not cover that mileage for several more years? How much do plugs cost and how often should i change them? Are they easy to change? Sorry this is a long list-I'm so impressed with the lexus-its so much better than anything I;'ve ever had before-i just want to keep it that way but don't really want to pay main dealer prices and don't trust the back street boys to take care of it.
  6. hi, searching ebay today i found a chrome grill kit to fit a LS400-for under £20! seems to look OK in the photo (I think) but has anyone actually fitted one? Are they tacky quality?
  7. Thanks for all your replys. Picked the car up today no problems as you'd expect! £3700 doesn't exactly buy an "immaculate" car it seems! I suppose one mans immaculate is anothers good condition. However bar the odd stonechip and bird lime marks she is superb and drives like nothing I've driven before. How docile it all seems-rolls alot too but very comfortable and wow when you floor it!!! (you guys already know all this though!) Very quiet and super refined-seems very good quality too. 140 miles home (half motorway/half main A roads-aircon off)) at 26.7mpg so that doesn't seem too bad either! think i'm gonna enjoy this car!!!
  8. I actually got it via ebay but yes it is leicester way!!! so could well be that very car! can you remeber what the autotrader price was? cheers
  9. I've only got pictures of my new car as i don't collect it till sunday but its headlights look like the early model to me! Thanks for taking the trouble with the pictures. Are these cars really as good as everyone seems to say?
  10. Not sure if its Mk2 - it was reg 1st aug 1994 on an M reg so not sure - antone know
  11. :) Hello. Collecting my LS400 on sunday! It is a 1994 M reg in black metallic (green accoding to lexus!) with a cream interior. Condition is immaculate , covered 106K and has a full lexus history and only 2 owners from new. Was £3700 about right?? I have 2 questions which I'm not able to find anwsers too-does anyone know- 1. What the differance is between MK1 and Mk2 LS400s? 2. realistically what mpg can i expect ? Many thanks.
