  1. Ooh didnt know that, I had done 3 restarts before pulling the fuses tho, one to get to halfords, one to go get my hair cut straight from halfords and one to get from there home. The light was still lit? Ok the fuse thing worked great guys, did the spark plugs. However I had only just got back from getting my hair cut so the engine was a little on the mega boiling side of things. I covered in so many blisters. The original spark plugs (after 60k) looked absolutely fine, so much so that I've kept them incase the IK20's start dying on me. Car feels exactly the same as before, not a single problem. Should I be expecting any change at all in the engines behaviour? Idle level? anything? Just wondering thats all.
  2. Prompt as always guys :) Will pull them, gonna go change sparkies now
  3. Hey guys, Minor problem, I was going to change the spark plugs for ik20's took off the airbox, intake and cover to get to them (thanks to the guides here). Realised i had the wrong socket size so had to dash to halfords, put it all back together, started the car and the engine light stayed on, after a brown trowser moment realised I hadnt reconnected the wire to the airbox, doh. Plugged it back in but need to reset the error. Any quick ways to do this? a fuse to pull prefferably :) Thanks guys
  4. I got stitched 3 years ago for doing 38 in a 40 zone..... ....no-one told me that they had changed the limit to a 30 !! ← Rule still holds :), but bad luck. Rest of you naughty naughty speeders anyone break my 20% + rule?
  5. The courts give you a 10% leway for speedo errors and people have one cases with a further 10% on that due to the fact that they need to allow a 10% error for the actual detection equiptment. This happens so much that most police forces are told to only prosecute those over 20%, ie 37 in a 30, 49 in a 40, 61 in a 50, 73 in a 60 and 85 in a 70. I would be particularly suprised if anyone on this board has been done for anything less than 20% over. This info comes from a particularly reliable source in the police. Bear in mind that your speedo will almost definately read faster than you are actually going. In particular I have been told that highway patrol officers only chase those approaching 90mph now.
  6. No, they said 5 years and thats it. I just got a letter back from the europe guys they were rather harsh, saying particularly that I must have used cd-r's or been rough with it and that 5 years is all you get. Tough. Oh well, my new speakers are turning up this week, back to my full pioneer install from my civic :)
  7. Just throwing these out there, £250 each B17 GAY B16 FAG Both available from the dvla, lol Seriously tho I been looking for private plates so that my new V-reg IS200 Sport looks deceptivly new :) Any idea if you can still get oddities like 9999 XX or XXX 9X (where X is a letter and 9 is a number) or 9999 XXX?
  8. I am not to bothered if they just get my existing one fixed (although the power button and the frequency scan up arrow have stopped working too now so it may be something more serious than i first thought) I would be over the moon if they managed to get one fixed or replaced for me, that would be great. But i wouldnt harbour any hurt feelings towards the company if they dont.

  10. I will probably be keeping this for five years or till I break it :) so i dont think it matters if i have the stamps too much, spose i could always make one out of a potatoe anyway :)
  11. Mine is ready for its 60k service, it is over 5 years old and was lexus serviced up until the last one at 50k. Do you think it is worth getting it serviced by lexus or should i do it myself? Just oil, plugs water and filters at 60k isnt it?
  12. Nothing yet, but i dont hold much hope. And I heard from w very nice member of this forum who is willing to help me out :)
  13. K fax is away, here is the body of the fax i sent for you guys to look at Dear Mr Hattori, I am the proud owner of a Lexus IS200 Sport and member of the Lexus owners club living in the UK (Numberplate: XXXX XXX VIN: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX). Due to a known mechanical fault with the stereo (failing mechanics in the CD changer unit resulting in an Error 3 message) it was replaced on the 13th of November 2004. As of last week this error re-appeared, so given that the stereo was originally replaced 8 months before and it was the replaced part that failed I believed that it would be replaced again. After a trip to my nearest Lexus dealer I was told that this would not be the case as my car is 4 months outside of the 5-year warranty period for this part. I was aware of this when I went to the garage but assumed all replacement parts would be covered by a separate warranty to ensure the item is fit for purpose. I am unaware of any other manufacturer that does not offer a 12-month warranty on new parts and was particularly shocked to find that a division of Toyota doesn’t. I proceeded to contact the garage that originally replaced the radio (Lexus Bolton) who came to the same decision as well as the Lexus GB customer services phone line where I was told that even if the radio was changed the day before the 5 year warranty ran out on the car and broke down the day after it would not be replaced again. I have always understood that Toyota invented the Total Quality Management program, to ensure as close to zero defects as possible, and that they are renowned for being the world leader in technological advancement, I am disappointed that they are refusing to replace/repair a CD player that is well known and documented for this failure and is clearly not fit for purpose. I am also disappointed with my local dealer’s attitude and the way I was treated by Lexus customer services in particular. Ideally I would like a replacement stereo sent to me. I will quite happily get it fitted myself, as I have lost faith in my local Lexus garage, I believe it happened when one of the mechanics came out and started punching the centre console of my car to see if he could get the radio to work again. Apart from this slight hiccup with my local Lexus personnel I have been greatly enjoying Lexus ownership. Every part of the car, bar the radio, is in as good a condition today as the day I bought it. Yours sincerely I wonder if this will get a responce :)
  14. Ok i've explored every avenue, and its a definate No. The guy at lexus GB said even if they had replaced the stereo 1 month before the 5 year deadline and it died 1 day after they wouldnt replace it :( its an understandible policy, but a little frustrating :) so i guess im looking to buy a new one definately, thanks for all the help and advice tho guys, it means alot :)
  15. Yeah, I've bought quite alot of things on ebay (my feedback is 102 possitive) I been caught a couple of times before tho, and the whole "its brand new" phrase scares the bejeebers out of me. If he said i just got an aftermarket radio or something i would have snapped it up, i guess i will watch it this weekend while waiting to see if someone here is willing to sell one that they have swapped out
  16. Is it you thats selling that? I saw that earlier and wasnt sure if it was worth the risk, I am more than happy to pay that much, but without knowing if the guy is trustworthy it may be just as broke as mine. Any ways you would suggest i can find out?
  17. As the topic says, after being messed around by lexus i guess i will nee to replace it myself, does anyone have one left over from doing an install? Thanks in advance guys :)
  18. Any idea of who to speak to as the 2 lexus garages I have spoken to and the lady on the customer service line kinda just said 5 years, give us £600 and we will do it. Does anyone here have a direct route to get these fixed? I spent most of today on the phone again :( Push comes to shove, does anyone have one in good nick that they are willing to sell? Or do you know of a method of sourcing em from scrap? I got the bottom cd version
  19. Hey again guys, You probably read my other post a couple of posts down but I really need advice on this problem. My Radio (Err3 and nothing will fix it) is completely gone. I have spoken to lexus and customer service line and they both say it is out of warenty, tough. However it was replaced on the 13/11/04 by Lexus Bolton, does this not give a 1 year extension on the warenty like most replacements? Is there anyone i can speak to about this, lexus cardiff, bolton and customer service line have been really unhelpful, bouncing me around helplines or saying you are out of 5year warenty, tough. I was lead to believe that all repairs like this have a 1 year warenty?? Advice please guys, any help would be greatly appreciated :(
  20. Nope done everything suggested, its a gonner me thinks :( Another thing that i was hoping you guys could help me with when i was taking the stereo out i was sure there were 2 wires plugged in the back of the stereo, when putting it back in one seems to have dissapeared? the one on the left as you are looking at the front of the stereo, is this the amp output? does the sport have an external amp? i have the "lexus" logo on the speakers on the back shelf, i looked quite hard but couldnt find the cable, any idea where it has gone? or did i miss count and that is the connector for the sat nav?
  21. Guess a new head unit it is then :( any advise on these items, are they a good buy? is this a con? Also how easy is it to get hold of a loom adaptor? Double din dvd Double set up? Another cheap double set up I would really appreciate some advice guys :)
  22. Just so you know I have called all local garages and been into a few of them, i also called the customer service line. I was very polite, but the second i mentin it is V-reg they say no. so im looking for a new stereo :(
  23. As i mentioned above, dealer says no. Too far over the 5year deadline :(
  24. Been there already (i had a busy first day of lexus ownership) guy said no, it is 5 months over the 5 year extension :(
